Spoiler warning: This book contains spoilers for the Light of Faerie series, as this villainous story matches up with the journeys of Sevelle, Jae, and Liza in Brave the Dark (Light of Faerie Book 3), but read on if you are ready.
She lies in wait—the one who bathed Faerie in darkness.
Shayna struggles to keep the courtiers of the Day in hiding, hoping to rejoin the rest of Faerie once they beg her to end the oppressive dark. However, her goals slip further away as she slowly loses her grip on her power and reality. And a confrontation with an old adversary in a forbidden world may just push her over the edge and release the chaotic and dangerous power inside her.
But the real enemy lies within Shayna’s own mind, an enemy she thought she’d beaten—the spirit of her mother.
This tale continues the stunningly complicated mother-daughter relationship revealed in The Glorious (Light of Faerie Book 2.5) and explores another side of the events that lead to the conclusion of Brave the Dark (Light of Faerie Book 3).
Experience Faerie through the eyes of The Glorious, ruler of the Day, wielder of power and lies, beloved and feared, enemy and mother figure, embodiment of light and dark, in this cunningly engaging villain story.
Driven by a lifelong passion for words and reading fantasy novels, Allison Rose writes YA fantasy stories featuring otherworldly beings, magic, and strong heroines. She has a BA in psychology and is fascinated by how other people think, but her love for reading and writing is greater. When Allison isn’t writing, she is editing and proofreading the works of others. Allison lives with her husband, daughter, and various animals in the place of wild weather also known as Buffalo, New York.
The end of The Glorious after she has taken the sun’s power into herself and left Faerie dark. The thirst for power and control over everyone has finally consumed The Glorious and she is losing her mind besides finding it harder and harder to control the energy, heat and light of the sun inside her. She hears her mother’s voice inside her mind and then realizing she is not going to be missed when her mother’s voice tells her what Sevelle has done and her daughters are beyond her control now.
These two series by Allison show how that all too human thirst for power and control over others can only end up eventually. History is replete with the stories and the ends of people such as The Glorious.
I have enjoyed both series about Faerie Allison has crafted and heartily recommend them both to you! The world of Faerie comes alive as you read these books and we see and learn the struggles faeries have are much the same as we humans face!
I encourage you to get both series that Allison has written for you’ll see the main characters overlap in both and I can assure you that you will enjoy these books immensely!
Bravo Allison for creating a world I have enjoyed reading about and one I will reread again and again! I hope in the future you’ll revisit faerie so I can see what has happened to my faerie friends both in faerie and in the human realm!
Loved this book I love a good villain story now and then. The glorious yet again has done something to her court and all of faerie she has bathed them into darkness. She will do anything to stop sevelle from being a good ruler of her court so she can stay the top faerie ruler.she wants the faeries To save them from the darkness but she's slowly losing her control on her power and fighting an internal battle with the spirit of her mother. Read the book to find out what happens to the glorious and how it affects sevelle and jae.
An amazing fantasy story that will draw you in and not let go until the end. There’s danger lurking and the words help you feel what is happening. Loved the characters.
A companion novella to Brave The Dark (Book 3 of Light of Faerie), Firestorm reveals what The Glorious is up to while Sevelle, Jae, and Liza are busy trying to sort out the mess she created at the end of Capture The Sky. And based on the events in this story, it’s clear that she had quite the ambitious plan in mind!
Like with The Glorious (the companion novella to Capture The Sky), I loved seeing the events of the main novel recounted from the villain’s point of view. Given that she’s absent from the page for most of the main story, Firestorm helps to shed some light (pun intended) on The Glorious’s motives while giving a little more depth to her character, which made it easier for me to sympathize with her even if I didn’t agree with her actions. There’s also some crossover with the author’s other series set in the same world, so it was fun to see some familiar characters make an appearance. And without spoiling the end of the Light of Faerie series, I can say that this companion story makes the end of The Glorious’s tale all the more satisfying!
Overall, Firestorm is a fitting conclusion to the story of Faerie’s most notorious villain. These novellas have been so much fun to read, and I only hope the author will make a habit of writing companion stories for her future villains as well!
The Glorious' POV during the 3rd book. We get to see how she thought things would work and how quickly things can go downhill when you do not think about and work with others. Kinda wish we could have seen a bit from Drake's POV but love the end.
