This book SHINE is a philosophical dialogue novel that encapsulates the spirit of adventure, discovery, and spiritual mystery. It serves as a vehicle and conduit between the inner and outer worlds, both new and familiar realms, in the pursuit of higher degrees of knowledge. The dialogue tapestry is woven with the spirit of creativity, set in a man’s captivating meeting with the infamous serpent of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Each question evokes a sensation of discovery and enlightenment about the state of mind, and its manifestations in the world, leading to the incredible breakthrough of the man who dares to ask. The story is constructed in multiple layers of depth, from the underworld to the upper world, for each seeker to fathom the different qualities of gems in the ocean. Each question's depth and passion invokes youthful amazement, inner child innocence, and curiosity, in a play of darkness and light, of the known and unknown universe and cosmos. Every reader and self-inquirer are urged to explore the margins of their most ephemeral ideas, societal conceptions, existing knowledge, and fantasies about the self and society. It is a stepping stone and a wake-up call in the pursuit of knowledge, truth, and freedom. It is the revelation of an epic tale of good over evil in 2022 and beyond.
More than anything, I’m left with a feeling of peace and hope…
Shine is not just a book, it’s a journey. Exploring the pursuit of knowledge within both good and evil ways of thinking. This deep and meaningful book is a testament to both these forces in life – dark and light – with a touch of love from both sides.
This dichotomy reminds us to look inside, until we find all that is within us. The shine within is the most powerful thing in the world. The pursuit of knowledge, truth and freedom is what drives us to explore the world and understand its mysteries. We are all born with this drive. Maybe it’s not a book for those easily offended or for people who are looking for a quick thrill, it’s a book that might actually change you.
I’m happy to have read this book, and followed the authors quest for truth, perception and pathways for humanity. It promotes the importance of a dialogue about all the different ways we define ourselves and our world. The containing story set in a meeting with the fallen angel and a man’s quest for truth in an increasingly polarized world, his personal story of redemption, and his search for meaning in life is truly inspirational.
The book reminded me of many very enjoyable and wide-ranging lunchtime conversations in Geneva with the author, who has a high level perspective and spiritual connection to the topics at play in this book that I’ve always found fascinating.
If you feel, as I do, that we are at the cusp of a real societal change, and that the tenor of “what comes after” is still in play, then this book will build a framework around that feeling. In this imagined conversation with the Devil (who turns out to be quite thoughtful and sympathetic), we see how the major trend lines in the world (technology, government, finance, culture, religion) are being spun together to create a nullification of the human spirit. By running from reality (to drugs, the multiverse, or consumerism), we give up the divine struggle in ourselves.
