He thought he was on a mission to save the world, but then Greg Benedict vanished like billions of others across the globe. But, he didn’t die. He went … somewhere else.
Book Two is the wrap up sequel to the preceding book, Gone.
Chaos, fighting and the decimation of humanity ensue after a manmade disaster causes half the population to simply disappear.
There are those who struggle to go on day to day assuming those who have vanished have died and there are those who try to make a change.
It isn’t easy.
A second disaster is forthcoming in the wake of the first. While survivors try to prepare for the new extinction level event, scientist plot a way to reverse the damage. If that is even a possibility
I love Ms. Druga's stories, they're interesting and entertaining. My only complaint and it is a big one is the editing and spell checking. You have to do better because right now it looks like you're not doing anything. There are so many misspellings, grammatical errors and simply nonsensical sentences where words were left out, not full formed or brought in from left field. This should be stopped! For Pete's sake hire a proof reader; I would do it for free, and while not an English major, I believe I could catch 80-85% of the mistakes. This is unconscionable.
After the first book, I was looking forward to finding out where Nel and Greg ended up.
A characters name was changed/got mixed up with another character, which made things very confusing and I had to double check what character it was meant to be.
I loved the different POVs as they spanned different time periods. I would've liked to find out more about the past where Nel was and I had so many answers about Hamm - where he came from, why he said he wasn't human etc.
I did guess one of the little twists and what was different about the painting, but it was still good to see the characters' reactions.
The ending was good, I'm curious about what happened next though, especially with the next planned portal opening.
Book 2 continues right where the first one left off. The characters are trying to figure out what is happening, and are in different points in time. Good theory, great characters, but it feels rushed. The storyline could have been more spread out and dug a little more in depth into what was happening. The author could have definitely made this longer or stretched it into a third book to better explain what happened. There are many editing errors and they are quite distracting and annoying. Otherwise a good read.
Spoiler would give it 3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed the flow and the time traveling interactions. Went off the deep end after Harold created and loss control of the accelerator and wiped out 1/2 the population, the President let Harold take back controls on his own own, drinking 3 bottles of Johnny Walker, for another chance with no accountability. Some typos and wrong names made reading confusing sometimes.

Pretty good original story. There were so many characters that I had trouble keeping track of them. Like Book 1, this one was full of typos and such. The author could really use a beta reader to catch what a spell checker misses; Missing words, word order (“We need to it get information”), etc.
I enjoyed the two books. I thought the story line was similar to the Bleak/Bleaker books she had written. It was a satisfying ending, with a little twist that was quite enjoyable. Only problem is the left out words and typos, but I'm getting good at filling in the blanks after reading so many of her books.
Well I went against my better judgement and decided to read Book 2 thinking I might be better than Book 1. WRONG. This one was just as riddled with typos and grammatical errors. Disappointing to say the least. On top of that, the stories continued but only became more far fetched as it went on. Reads like a teen story. No real organization of plot, felt rushed and too much going on.
I really enjoyed gone book 1&2. The storyline was so unique and so interesting and the characters were very well defined. I really did not want it to end. The ending was well done and did not leave you wondering where it was going but did leave it open enough for a 3rd or 4th book if she were so inclined. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Jaqueline Druga has become my favorite author. She is an amazing storyteller and I feel bd her because I is easy to read and get immersed b the story and the characters. Once I started to his two books series I couldn’t put them down. I can say it is truly unlike anything else I have read. You will not be disappointed!
this surpassed Gone one. I was impressed with the author's cleverness and imagination. This was a combo of dystopian world, how the cream of humanity rises, time travel, annihilation time clock ticking . But, like so many of her other books, her editing is horrendous. Still, I can say I loved this book.
Book two explained a lot of unanswered questions. I like the parts of seeing how they were in the past by pictures and history books. Looking forward to part three. Definitely recommend.
Unusual sci-fi story based in science. When I finished the first book I was distressed I had to wait for book two. It was worth the wait. I absolutely love where Greg landed up !!
I like the concept but the amount of grammatical errors is way too distracting. If you are going to spend that much time writing why wouldn't you pay someone to proof it?
I love love both books. I was emotionally attached to some characters. Yet, some I couldn’t stand. Which is a good sign for me. I don’t want to love all the characters. Boring read. But this book, I cried, laughed and will miss them all. I highly recommend this book.
As before in book one, many grammatical errors. (Which incidentally didn't faze me) I enjoyed this second volume just as well as the first one and have already purchased another of her books (Bob) which looks to be interesting. Great little series, and well worthy of 5 stars.
Usually I can get sucked into this authors books very quickly and easily. But I slugged through the first in this series and at 25% I’m giving up on the second book. Life is too short and there are to many unread books to slug through a book.
The area was barren of life, but life was out there. He needed to know all about that life, so he could fit in and not stand out. He needed to find out if the beings were dangerous or good. He knew they were advanced.
Lost, was not what I expected. It followed a good story and had its characters that were interesting. It's a new idea that was hard to put down. Things followed through and most were not rushed. It does leave you wondering about the other that didn't return.
I enjoyed this story full of hope and heartache. The characters were interesting and amazing. I have enjoyed every story that I have read written by this author!!
This was the continuation of Druga's first novel. In the aftermath of the mass disappearances of most of the population, there is a glimmer of hope. The original inventor of the device that caused the event, believes he can reverse it. For a very brief moment, those few persons who were not killed, but simply transported to an alternate universe when the event happened, may have a chance at returning. This includes some of the characters from the first novel. Overall, was a very quick but fun read. My only issue is PLEASE hire a proofreader or at least find an English major at the local college looking to make a few bucks. I am the farthest from an English major, but the usage/grammar/spelling mistakes were very distracting to the story.
