A good little starter for watercolours. I read the same author's book on acrylics - it is clear she is primarily a watercolour painter and I found this one more comprehensive.

It's a nice book for those who are learning how to use watercolor. It includes several tutorials, and the instructions are easy to follow.

A good introduction for a beginner like me as it makes starting out easier. After reading basic colour theory and paint selection from this book, I could choose painting supplies in a more informed manner. I now know that I only need 6 colours to paint the world and do not need to buy so many colours unless for convenience. This helped prepare me before I start my first class on water colour painting recently since the art teacher's style is not very structured (which is ok for me, just go with the flow).

There are many interesting methods and exercises in the book like using salt to create texture. I did not try all, since I am just starting out but it was really an eye opener on what is possible and that painting does not have to be as prescriptive as I thought but rather a journey of discovery and self-expression.
