Klaus Kordon wuchs im Ostberliner Stadtteil Prenzlauer Berg auf. Da sein Vater im Krieg umgekommen war, wurde er alleine von seiner Mutter erzogen. Nach dem Tod der Mutter im Jahr 1956 lebte Kordon in verschiedenen Heimen. Klaus Kordon absolvierte in der DDR eine Ausbildung als Fernsehmechaniker, arbeitete in verschiedenen Berufen und machte schließlich das Abitur. Nach einem Fernstudium zum Exportkaufmann unternahm er berufliche Reisen, die ihn unter anderem nach Indien, Indonesien und Nordafrika führten. Zu dieser Zeit begann er mit dem Schreiben. Seine zunehmende Distanz zur politischen Praxis in der DDR mündete 1972 in einem Fluchtversuch über Bulgarien in den Westen. Kordon wurde festgenommen und in das zentrale Untersuchungsgefängnis des MfS im geheimen Sperrgebiet von Berlin-Hohenschönhausen eingeliefert; er blieb ein Jahr in Stasi-Haft. 1973 kaufte ihn die Bundesrepublik Deutschland frei. Sein erstes Buch, der Jugendroman Tadaki, erschien 1977. In seinem autobiographischen Roman Krokodil im Nacken verarbeitete er die Hafterfahrung.
Klaus Kordon ist Mitglied des PEN-Zentrums der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und der Deutschen Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur.
Kordon schreibt Romane, Erzählungen, Märchen und Gedichte. In seinen Büchern verarbeitet er geschichtliche Stoffe. Seine Akteure sind meist Arbeiter oder von der Gesellschaft marginalisierte Gruppen. Andere Werke sind von seinen Reisen inspiriert. Mit Die Zeit ist kaputt schrieb Kordon eine Biografie von Erich Kästner für Jugendliche und Erwachsene.

Kindheitserinnerungen! Auch diesmal hab ich das Buch 2x hintereinander gelesen. Freue mich, dass meine Kinder es auch bald lesen werden. Möchte mit ihren diese Erinnerungen teilen.

Brothers Like Friends by Klaus Kordon is set in 1950. Seven Year Old Frank lives in Berlin and hes very humorous. "There! Another one! Frank couldn't help laughing" on pg. 12 Frank also is smart. "Frankie decided to stay on the balcony. They wouldn't look for him there is nothing to steal." pg. 145 Frank is also very thoughtful "Frank could already see Bukhara playing with his new soccer ball with the blue and white Hertha jersey, of course." on pg. 145. Brothers like friends is about Frankie and his brother Burkie who are getting a new dad Uncle Willi. The mother likes Uncle Willi but the boys don't, they think he's trouble. This book is about working together as a family. There will be some ups and downs but family and friends can always help you no matter what situation. Willi does some bad stuff to the mother and the kids but they have to fight through it like a family.
The point of view is third person. It makes it harder to see how the person actually feels. It may say what's in there mind but it's not saying "I" its saying "He". I still think its nice to know what there thinking. The Message of the story would be family always sticks together and make the best out of the worst situation. I think the world Loving would really sum this book up. The family loves each other even when they don't know it. "Burkie Nodded. He's not gonna take on the three of us everyday."Also the word Intense because the book can be tense at some times like when Uncle Willi beats Burkie. "Then Uncle Willi struck him hard. The cane hit Burkies bent back." I think the most important quote is probably "She would have said more if Uncle Willi hadn't interrupted them. He wanted her to come back out front right away. She brushed Frank's cheek and turned and left the room" This quote is the last sentence in the book and it shows this man is still in control of her and that he didn't have to be. It's kinda sad because it never shows the mother divorcing Willi and maybe she will be stuck like that forever. But I think its the most important because it shows the problem and the solution of the book. I don't think that Frankie will understand what is going on at this point he is only 7.
The main character Frankie cares about his mom and wants her to be happy. I am the same way, if I dont like something my mom likes but she does i'll go through it for her because I want her to be happy just like Frank wants his mom to be happy. I think a trait that we share is Loving. "Really all'd he want is a soccer ball." Frankie loves and cares about his brother enough he would get him the soccer ball he wanted. I would recommend this book to older people that would understand more. It may not look like it but the book is very complex. Somethings I didn't even understand. I did like the relationship between the brothers and how the family stuck together till the end. I liked the side characters and the little bit of action. I liked Burkies girl friend Moni she was very nice to Frankie. "I used to be afraid," Moni declared. "Now it doesn't bother me, We'll try it again later, Ok" I would rate this book a 9 out of 10 for being such a good book.

The climax of the story is that the brother of Frankie, Burkie dies from an accident at soccer practice. The family is distraught and very depressed. There's very few chapters left but Frankie and his family go to the funeral and Aunt Lucy comes back from far away. It's very sad at the end like Frankie finding some of Burkies stuff and he try's to play soccer for Burkie

Ich habe ein Regal mit Büchern, die ich noch lesen wollte, um zu sehen, ob ich sie behalte oder nicht. Ich war bei der Auswahl überfordert, da ich es ernst meine, wenn ich sage, dass das Regel sehr sehr voll ist. Deswegen bat ich meine Schwester mir zu helfen, und siehe da, statt mir eins der neusten Stephen King Bücher, die sie mir zu Weihnachten geschenkt hat, zu geben, drückte sie mir Kordons "Brüder wie Freunde" in die Hand und versicherte mir, als sie meine Zweifel bemerkte, dass dieses Buch großartig sei.
Noch nicht oft habe ich ein Buch aus der Sicht eines Kindes gelesen. Ehrlich gesagt, ich kann mich nicht dran erinnern, wann das letzte Mal war. Aber ich war schnell fasziniert davon, wie Klaus Korden, von dem ich bereits andere Bücher gelesen hatte, die mir sogar noch besser gefallen haben, es immer wieder geschafft hat, die Gedanken eines 7-jährigen wiederzugeben. Diese typische kindische Naivität, diese simple Ausdrucksweise, diese Ratlosigkeit des Jungen jenen Situationen,in denen er sich überfordert fühlt, kauft man dem Autor sofort ab. Es ist einfach genial, wie man sich selbst in die Lage des Protagonisten, Frank, versetzen kann und so hautnah miterlebt, welche Schwierigkeiten der Alltag in der Nachkriegszeit für einen Zweitklässler zu bieten hatte.

translated into brothers like friends a very heart warming yet a little boring tho i would recomend it
