I’ve been running my entire life, and I never found a place where I felt safe. Until I found Snow Haven.
Shifters, witches, and others have been trying to kill me my entire life – but not for anything I’ve done. It’s because of who I am. I’m a very powerful witch.
Some want to capture me because they want to use me and use my magic for their own benefit. Some want to kill me because they are afraid that I will get in the way of their evil magic. One wants me out of the way because he thinks I’m encroaching on his territory – the alpha of the dragon clan.
Snow Haven was supposed to be my safe haven, a place to hide until I turned twenty-one when my magical powers would grow exponentially and I would be the most powerful witch to exist in more than a century. The hunters have found me even here and they threaten the lives of those I love most — including Luke.
Luke, the alpha of his dragon clan, saved me while I was being attacked. Then, he demanded answers. When he learned of the danger I was in, he appointed himself my protector. The chemistry between us was instant.
His touch, his kisses, and his love were overwhelming. He captured my heart and my soul.
Even as the rogue shifters, evil witches, and one very jealous dragon shifter try to destroy me and those I love most, I can’t make myself leave.
A bear shifter — who was my mother’s best friend
A pit bull – my familiar and best friend
A dragon shifter – the alpha of his clan and the love of my life
I knew I should leave Snow Haven and disappear to protect those I’ve come to love. Yet, I was compelled to stay.
Every day, the evil grew and threatened to destroy me. Could I live long enough to save those I love and find true happiness with my soulmate?
I began writing short stories for family and friends. My vivid imagination and love of mysteries and romance eventually led me to following my own dreams of becoming a published author.

I stopped at 15%. I tried to get into it, but it just wasn’t happening. It’s incredibly fast paced in the sense that very little is expounded upon. Like others said, the characters are very one dimensional with no depth whatsoever. He said this. She replied that. No descriptive words showing us HOW they said those things. Nothing to tell us how they’re feeling when they’re speaking. You just have to figure it out for yourself. Also the phrases which I cannot stand in any book whether it be paranormal or not, “what is it about her?” And “there’s just something about him”. Those phrases make me cringe. There are much better ways to explain an unexplainable pull towards a person. Drives me nuts.
It’s very much meant for teenagers. I won’t be reading any more of the series.
I think the author has good intentions and good ideas. The story read as if a high schooler wrote it with "look what I learned!" big words. The reading level of terms was like someone who's had a little college education but didn't go to school for writing in itself wrote the book. The storyline moved way too fast and the intimate scenes were written with the wrong descriptors such as "apple head c0ck" and "his touch tickled her but not in the way you tickle a child." Why, I beg of you to explain, would you be describing an intimate moment between two consenting adults and bringing a descriptor involving a child into it? *cringe* I would hope the author would look into obtaining an educated editor into her life to help her fine-tune her writing. With some fine-tuning, this story could be a really good one as it does have potential.
Great start to a new series! The author brings strong characters and weaves an action packed romance. Rowen is a witch and Luke is the dragon who saves her. Turns out they are fated mates. It's well written with perfectly painted scenes, moves fluidly and is a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This has great potential but is somehow lacking in depth. It’s difficult in writing to straddle the line of describing things effectively and over describing. In my opinion, Ms White erred on the side of too little description and what there was of it, fell flat.
The story itself was intriguing and promise. The execution of telling the story fell short of the mark and felt forced.
I’m an avid reader and while I enjoyed the premise of the book, the characters and plot lacked depth. Sometime the writing seemed almost juvenile. Several typos, although I can usually ignore those.
DNF. The storyline had potential, however, the whole thing could use a good editor. Errors pulled me out of the story enough that I gave up midway through.
I was held captivated right up till the very end with this book and I’ve be never been disappointed by this author ever. Rowena is a witch that’s been running all her life with he pet pit bull Poseidon when they end up in Snow Haven think it’s a safe place she is attacked but is saved by a dragon shifter. Luke is a Dragon shifter and the Alpha of his pack when he stubbles upon a female being attacked and saves her life but he wants to know why she is in his territory and why she was attacked. After explaining everything to Luke about being a witch and how very powerful she will be once she turns 21 yrs and that’s why they either want her dead or to use her powers and Luke tells her he will protect her but not everyone is happy about his decision especially a female Dragon Shifter who believes that she was going to be his mate until the witch arrived. Luke will do everything he can to protect his mate as will some of the town’s people and his clan. How does it all turn out can Luke save his mate or does she run again. Brilliant book
I’m sorry I seriously tried to like this book. The characters are very one dimensional and rather boring. There are many spelling errors and the storyline is grossly overdone. I just did not enjoy it.
Rowena has been hunted her whole life just because of her birth. It seems like every baddie wants her dead before her 21st birthday when she comes into her full powers. She is tired of being on the run, but her faithful companion and familiar, Poseidon, keeps her going. She ends up in Luke’s territory, a dragon shifter, he appoints himself her protector after he feels the undeniable pull towards her. Luke doesn’t know he has to protect Rowena from rogue shifters, dark witches, and other beings but he is up to the challenge. Will Rowena live long enough to explore the fated mate bond between her and Luke?
Seventh daughter, of a seventh daughter, super witch, Rowena and alpha dragon, Luke are a great couple. She has been chased her entire life for her powers, and is finally rewarded with her true love, Luke, and a found family of different shifters. Their story is fast, strong, sexy, funny, and very sweet. Her familiar, Poseidon is her steadfast friend and guard. I think you'll enjoy it. My only con was there was no big show of her super powers after she turned 21 years old. I was expecting this big explosion of her powers and everyone to be in awe. It was kind of a letdown.
Her Alpha Dragon Protector begins the Snow Haven Shifters with an interesting romance between a witch on the run for her life, and the dragon shifter alpha of the small, magical town she’s run to for sanctuary. Rowena and her pit bull familiar, Poseidon, have traveled the world, staying (for the most part) one step ahead of those who would capture her because of her unique magical abilities or see her dead. She just has to reach her birthday in a few weeks’ time when her complete abilities descend upon her and from that point onward, she’s protected and so very capable of handling anything that comes her way… but she has to survive until her birthday, and that’s looking less likely with every day that passes.
In Snow Haven, she’s run to her mother’s friend for sanctuary in the final weeks leading up to her birthday. She knows those witches and shifters who are always on her heels will eventually find her here; in fact, they’re already beginning to show up in town. But she and Poseidon are making their last stand here. The last thing she expected to find was the alpha dragon shifter, Luke… her mate. And while she’s fallen, quite easily in love with this protective man, she also will not allow the town to be destroyed or others harmed because of her.
Luke and Rowena make an intriguing couple, both powerful in their own ways. Witty, with banter flowing between them often, with an underlying sexual awareness that cannot be denied… and they do not deny that chemistry at all. There are some powerful enemies to be dealt with, one jealous ‘mean girl’ and her crew as well. But there are also those who would defend Rowena and Poseidon for all the right reasons, let alone that she is the mate of their alpha.
I enjoyed their storyline, while admittedly I did do a lot of skimming in some areas. Frankly, I’ve come back to this author after years of not picking up her books to see if I can finish one of her more recent series. That’s not to say that the previous stories that I have read weren’t good – they simply weren’t in a style that I enjoy as her descriptive prose isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I mean, there’s well endowed, and then there’s… well if you’ve read this one then you know what I’m referring to. Not even for a dragon shifter could I imagine that. I did enjoy the story, the villains, definitely Poseiden, and, in general, their sexy moments (minus some of those descriptions). I’ll return to see what the next story brings us.

What book did the 5 star reviews read - read on KU
This book is pretty badly written. There are errors everywhere. The chemistry is flat. The word choice is often poor. I really hate that it is in 3rd person, but that is personal preference.
The steamy scenes were like something written decades ago and were boring.
Several reviewers stated it read like something a high school student would write, but I wonder if it was written by AI. Or at least the first draft was.
The rest of the review has some minor spoilers.
At the beginning of the book, she has 2 weeks until her birthday. In the middle of the book, we're at least 5 days in, if not 8 or 9 days and people keep saying she has 2 weeks left. Then we're told she has 11 days left. 2 or 3 days later, we're on the day before her birthday. 8 days later, which is the most concrete and accurate passage of time we're ever given, she finds out she's pregnant and due in 5 months. She was a virgin at the beginning of the story. A month later and no one can tell she's pregnant even though she supposedly only has 4 mo the left? Also, Luke says he has known for a very long time she was his fated mate. Since when is less than 3 weeks a "very long time?"
The story had potential. The execution was horrible. I won't read another book by this author intentionally.
Rowena is a very special witch who will come into her full powers when she reaches the age of twenty one. Her mother and grandparents were killed protecting her and she has been running and fighting her whole life. Luke meets Rowena and the two of them have feelings for each other right away. Evil witches and bad shifters arrive in town and track Rowena down. You have to read the book to find out if Rowena and Luke find their forever happiness or if Rowena dies fighting for her life before she reaches the age of twenty one when she has her full powers and others can't hurt her anymore!!
I loved the story as a whole picture. The place, was magical, everyone, with a few exceptions was content, and happy to be in this safe place for all manner of supernatural beings. Luke was a great Dragon Alpha, but also he was a strong, protective man. Rowena was a beacon of positive energy, even though she spent her life hiding, and fighting to stay alive. The connection between her and her Pit bull familiar is strong. They have been together all her life, and he served her mother before her. How they come together, is worth all the battles they have to fight.
I absolutely love this book it had me on my toes on my nerves trying to figure out what’s going to happen next it was exhilarating romance passion drama it’s all the things in a book that you want including A happy ever after they are some parts I wish you would included into the book part of the story I guess why did you have to end the story the way you did it was so good I want to know what she’s having next and this is most definitely in our collection of books to share I think you for it I appreciate it
Her Alpha Dragon Protector, written by Brittany White, is the first book in her Snow Haven Shifters series. The book held me captive from the first page to the last. The story is well written with a strong female and strong male main character, detailed world building, mystery, intrigue, adventure, danger, magic, witches, shifters, a canine familiar, friendship, family and love. There are spicy parts with detailed scenes, so definitely an adult rated read. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
The author has a good idea for the story but lacks the details to making it a good story. It reminds me of a young high schooler writing the book, where they rush through the subtle details and nuances that make people care about characters and storylines. These are important to connect the readers to the book. the numerous sex scenes that are in the book have more details than anything else but are very fake and use the same words over and over again. The author needs to slow down take more time developing.
I really enjoyed this story it had me enthralled from the moment that I started reading it until the very last page. I loved Rowena and Luke in how they recognised each other as their fated mates. I loved the powerplay that was involved in protecting Rowena from the shifters and witches that were after her. There was a great happy ending for Rowena and Luke and their baby.
I was given a copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
She's a witch and he is a dragon. Rowena has been on the run her whole life looking for a place to rest. she finds herself in Lukes's territory. He finds her when she is under attack and when he finds out the reason of the attack, he appoints himself her protector! This action-packed story kept me glued to the pages and cheering for Luke and Rowena! I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Story is smooth, easy read and good. So thumbs up. Running for her life and finally reaching a safe place even for a little while ( until her birthday arrives) was be a relief. Until hiding inside too long makes her desperate to go outside longing to be around nature, being seen brought good and bad outcomes. She meets a dragon whom happens to be her fated mate but afraid to trust and everyone with bad intentions comes to town.
The author has given us a heart pounding story that pulls us into the lives of Luke, dragon shifter, and Rowena, witch, and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with connection, fear, danger, action and steam.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Her Alpha Dragon Protector, Snow Haven Shifters book 1 by Brittany White has a true mix of characters. There's shifters, witches and humans. The love of community and each other come together to keep the town of Snow Haven and it's people safe. There are some editing issues throughout the book. The story is easy to read and full of ups and downs.
She's running for her life and hoping she makes it to her 21st birthday. She's come to a small town, a place her mother told her about, its her last safe haven or is it? He's the alpha of the dragon clan and wants to hate her for the trouble he senses follows her but he's drawn to protect her instead. How will their story unfold? Read and find out.
I really enjoyed the read , the characters were great their own personality was very well written they pulled you right into the character they were. I really liked Rowena she was awesome women Rock !!!! 😇😇 so again I really enjoyed this story oh let me not forget Luke he was pretty awesome to.
I had accidentally came across this series. I was looking for a book to read and found in. I must say, I loved the book. It had everything a book needed to keep me reading. There were equal parts of suspense, jokes, violence, and sex. Some of the sex scenes were very romantic. Others outright sexy as hell.
I enjoyed the book. Rowena came to Snow Haven to protect her from the dark witches and rogue shifters looking to kill or kidnap her. She found love and a community willing to protect her instead. I loved how Rowena was a strong character. She fought strong and still had an innocence to her. Poseidon's jokes and quirks were the highlight of the book.
It’s a decent enough story, but the constant third person point of view was confusing and kept pushing me out the story. I’ll be honest, I was half way through the book when I realised we were reading a dragon shifter male and not a wolf shifter - because they were in third person together at the beginning it really wasn’t that clear.
Great story! Loved the characters in this story! Snow Haven is pretty awesome! Luke is a dragon shifter and his mate will be a powerful witch . I loved the series I started with the fifth book before looking for this one. All the books are awesome!!
Brittany White did a good job with this story of a dragon and a witch that he fell in love with that needed protection until her 21st birthday. It was full of suspense and a HEA. Worth getting and reading. Can't wait to read more.
