The main characters are on vacation from school, and still logging into the game (at the vacation place) to gain experience points, levels and special abilities, skills and equipment. The main character, Ren, re-encounters an American friend from youth, Emily.
This light novel has an intrinsic flaw, in that DEVS (Developers/Programmers) are subjective and arbitrary in their design of their video games. Although most are based on probability, the choices, professions, abilities, skills, drops, monsters, loot, traps, etc. are "randomly" found... Once the DEVS find "exploits" they usually tend to seek the balance of the games that they develop and design. An "exploit" is a special benefit (overlooked) by the developers that players find while playing the game normally. Exploits are usually caused by "mistakes" or "bad oversight" by the programmers and developers of the game. "Exploits" make the game "easier" for the players that find and use it.
The author of this light novel series bases the theme of this Fantasy-VRMMORPG-game-academy on the idea that one student can create the new game trend, not by doing things traditionally, but by finding the "exploits" and "bad programming" (bugs) of the developers and programmers.
Where I'm going with this, is that the author plans the whole gaming interactions so that the main characters can find the exploits and cause the META (game trends) within the game. Because video games do not have to conform to science principles and laws (gravity, motion, thermodynamics, buoyancy, evolution, relativity, uncertainty, etc...) within their games, they can bend, remove, or manipulate/abuse the laws/rules/conceptions/common sense of the players... while they are in the game. For example, people cannot fly by themselves, but in a game, with a special ability or skill, the players can suddenly fly into the air...use magic, special skills or things that aren't normal on Earth.
The author to make the main character, Ren, win at the end, and seem "brilliant", always has to come up with a new, or several new "Tada" moments (when a magician pulls a live rabbit out of a hat that amazes viewers)...Most of the arguments written by the author are convoluted and complicated...and instead of making Ren, the main character, look "good" or "brilliant", the author falls way short. Especially if the main character, Ren, is going to this video-game academy to become a developer/programmer and not a professional E-Sports Gamer. The difference is like being a Chef and preparing the food, or being really good at eating the food (Foodie) and choosing the best food... So, being an excellent gamer will usually contradict, being a good developer/programmer.
This Book 5 does not have a resolution/ending. They play and play the game but do not get anywhere in this Book 5. Like if the author ran out of space or ideas...Because Book 5 has about 130+ pages, maybe the author/editor thought it would be a better idea to have this volume become a two-part volume. Book 5 does not have maps of the game, or the vacation place, does not have character summaries, with their names, abilities and equipment. I believe that after the third volume (book) the author ran out of "mental-gas" (ideas for this light novel series) and is currently "filling it up" with vacations, childhood friends, Culture Festivals, Hot-baths, and all of the regular light novel tropes...
