Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball-and-chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she’s not writing, she’s editing or reading, proving most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. This is a very well-written story with a hero and heroine I quickly came to care about. Robin knows how to hook the reader and draw them into the story. I especially liked Ginny…well, I especially liked Kade, too. Ginny is looking for someone to love her, but she has a hard time trusting because of her family background. And Kade is trying to live up to the family’s standards–at least his perception of the standards.

This book is a perfect blend of romance, suspense, and a spiritual thread. Ginny is a new Christian who doesn’t know how to trust that God isn’t like her family. I loved watching her come to trust Him. And Kade is awesome — I love the way he stands up for Ginny when everyone turns against her. This is a great book. And there are more in the Legacy series! I already have the second one on my TBR table!

Legacy Rejected begins a new suspense series tied to Nutfield, New Hampshire. Main character Ginny is easy to like due to overcoming a childhood filled with insecurity and little love. While I enjoyed the novel overall, there were a few things that I found difficult to believe.

I enjoy Robin Patchen's writing and look forward to the next in the series. My gratitude to the author for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

4.5 stars for this new release by Robin Patchen! Legacy Rejected is the first book in the Legacy series, but fans of her Hidden Truth series and Beauty in Flight series will be glad to visit some old friends in Nutfield again. Those aren't at all necessary to enjoy this novel, but if you've read them, you will recognize more side characters than if you haven't.

This book follows Ginny Lamont, a real estate agent who has recently settled in the small town of Nutfield, NH (she was a minor character in the Beauty in Flight series), and finally feels "at home" there after a nomadic childhood. When she is warned by her sister to leave, she disregards the warning and fights for her home. Her budding relationship with the handsome Kade Powers helps that decision along. This book is filled with intense action and suspense, a blossoming romance, family drama, and a strong faith thread as Ginny's new faith is tried and tested throughout this book. I felt like the romance moved a bit too quickly (and even the characters affirmed that), but because the characters had history and the intensity of the time together in the book, I find it acceptable - however, that is what made me list this as 4.5 instead of 5 stars.

I would strongly recommend this book to lovers of inspirational romantic suspense. You won't be disappointed!

Special thanks to the author for an advanced e-copy of this book. I was not obligated to write a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

“It’s just a matter of time before they come after you.”

-‘He opened the car door and, when she was settled in the driver’s seat, handed her the keys. “Be prepared to drive away if you need to. Don’t worry about me—I’ll be fine.” He added that last part with as much confidence as he could. She was probably right, and the house was probably safe. But there were no guarantees, and though he didn’t have the finely tuned instincts of a soldier or a spy, something had felt very wrong. After meeting her eyes one last time, he ran back inside.’- ... “There was somebody in the basement.”’

-‘“Kathryn warned me that someone followed me here, that someone’s after me. She told me to run.”’-...

Eeee! Deliciously creepy, as always. This author is the queen of suspense! I love her books. Not a good idea to read them late at night, or just before bed, or when home alone... 😵 They aren’t too scary but sometimes they get a little intense. And there’s always that underlying suggestion that someone is watching... she writes it so well that the reader feels immersed in it, as though we are there with the characters. I love it!

-‘“Don’t dig in someone else’s graveyard. Let it go.”
“I can’t. Somebody’s after me.”
The man uttered a curse word under his breath. “Then you’re as good as dead.”’-

Fantastic story. I loved it. Definitely recommend it. Clean, Christian romantic suspense.

This was a fast-moving suspense with a few twists and turns.

Though I did enjoy getting to know both characters, I did find myself very frustrated with Kade. I just could not see how he was never once suspicious of one specific character who were clearly shady.

The story did keep me interested and engaged, though some elements were easy to guess.

The Theme that you create your own legacy, that you are not defined by the mistakes and history of your parents, was strong.

Every time I read a new Robin Patchen book my husband has to listen to me go on about how she really deserves greater exposure. She is one of my favorite Christian mystery/suspense authors, along with Lynette Eason, Irene Hannon, Patricia Bradley and Colleen Coble. If you are fans of any of those authors, please treat yourself to a book by Robin Patchen, or better yet purchase a series. You will be so glad that you did.

Legacy Rejected is the story of Ginny Lamont. Having lived through a less than desirable childhood, Ginny has found a sense of home in Nutville, New Hampshire. Her sister lives in the town, and Ginny is making friends. Her real estate business is growing, and she is remodeling an older home into her dream home one project at a time. The man who has drawn her attention seems to be drawn to her as well. Life is good, at least until it begins to fall apart piece by piece. Her sister takes her family and flees, her friends abandon her, someone breaks into her home, and she is being followed. How could life change so quickly? Who is behind it? How can she protect herself and those she loves?

If Robin Patchen's books are new to you, after reading this one you will want to read her Hidden Truth and Beauty in Flight series. I recommend reading her series in order for the greatest enjoyment. I am grateful to have received a complementary copy of Legacy Rejected from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.

Robin Patchen’s “Legacy Rejected” is a solid 5+ that I loved. It has the perfect balance of suspense and romance while keeping the characters real and believable.

Ginny grabbed my heart from the very beginning. Coming from a bad background, rejected by her family and told to run she has no idea what she’s hiding from. Yet, in the midst of her trials she sees things in a positive light, determined to keep her new life in Nutfield. In her weaknesses she finds strength and determines not to give up. Of course, meeting Kade couldn’t hurt.

Kade is a hometown boy trying to live up to his dad’s perceived expectations and reaching for success to prove himself. For months he’s been interested in Ginny, but as his attraction grows, so does his worry. Things just aren’t right, and he gets pulled in deep as danger creeps ever closer.

Will Ginny’s budding faith be able to stand the test of the lies and circumstances surrounding her? Can Kade keep Ginny safe long enough to figure out whose after her? Will they avoid danger and get their happily ever after?

Come along for the ride. You won’t be disappointed, and along the way you get to revisit some favorite characters from previous series. If you haven’t read the “Hidden Truth” or “Beauty in Flight” series pick them up today and get to know the people of Nutfield.
I highly recommend this book.

Realtor Ginny Lamont moved to Nutfield, NH to be near her sister. She decides to go visit her sister only to find a moving van in front of the house. Her sister is leaving and she tells Ginny she should run and change her name because someone is after her.

Ginny becomes the assistant to Real Estate Developer, Kade Powers. Kade is trying to develop land he owns but the city council President needs him to have funding in place first. A Russian comes over and wishes to invest in Kade's project but only if Kade uses a particular construction company. The council allows the project to start. The project starts and is getting people interested in buying properties until an article comes out about Ginny's past. Ginny's parents were owners of strip clubs and laundered money. Ginny had suspected that her parents had laundered money and knew about one strip club. Things are going downhill and the bank even wants to call in Kade's loan. The Russian agrees to fund the whole project.

Who is this Russian and who had the info about Ginny's parents? I liked this romance which has a slight element of mystery. I don't want to say more as I want to leave incentive for others to find out what happens.

I discovered author Robin Patchen a few years ago with her Hidden Truth series; Legacy Rejected is the first in her newest series, The Legacy. I was hooked from the first page of the very first book by Patchen I read, and I’m still hooked.

Ginny Lamont, a realtor, has chosen Nutfield, New Hampshire as her forever home; after years of moving here and there as a child, she has set down her roots, built a home and there is nothing that will induce her to leave. Not even when her sister suddenly packs up her children and belongings, disappearing without a word or a trace. Nor will Ginny succumb to leaving Nutfield when she finds herself the object of someone’s evil claims and a determination to see her dead for who she knows and what she knows.

Except who she knows are either dead or in hiding; and what she knows? She doesn’t know anything, making the entire series of events so much more baffling.

Kade Powers is a handsome and talented real estate developer; from the moment of their first date, Kade is hooked. Protecting Ginny and getting his new development the backing it needs is his focus, but somehow the two end up entangled in a way neither Ginny or Kade foresee.

Fast-paced with small town values, Legacy Rejected is a great read! I highly recommend it!

Legacy Rejected by Robin Patchen
The Legacy Series Book One
Kade Powers is a real estate developer. His dream is getting close to being realized...building a country club and houses on the land his father gave him in his hometown of Nutfield. He needed to make his father proud. Prove his self to his family.

Ginny Lamont had an odd childhood once they lost their home to Katrina. After her dad's death and her mother kicking her out...she moves to Nutfield to be by her only sibling. After a cryptic message, her sister deserts her too. Leaving her to a fate to be aware of someone who was after her, but no clue to who or why.

Kade and Ginny are thrown into something they never expected when both of their lives get turned upside down. It's during a real crisis that people find out who their friends truly are...and these two are finding that most people run the other way. Another fantastic suspense romance from this author.

I loved reading Legacy Rejected by Robin Patchen. Ginny and Kade’s story is a road of twist and turns. Rejected is honestly poor Ginny’s middle name ok not really, but she deals with a lot of rejection in her life.

I’m jumping ahead, but I honestly cried at the end of the book. I don’t want to give anything away only to say it was a good cry. I loved the book, but I honestly I loved the end of the book the best. I’m usually not one to say the end of the book was the best part. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the book from beginning to the end. The end just touched me very personally and deeply.

Ginny and Kade meet up in the beginning of the book when poor Ginny is devastated, broken, vulnerable and lost. They went though a lot together, but through it all their love for each other stayed strong. Neither one gave up on the other one even when it seemed clear that they should have. I think that says a lot about how deeply in love they were with each other.
I have no doubt that You’ll love this book as much as I did!
Happy Reading!

I am really enjoying all these book series of Robin's that take place in Nutfield, N.H.. I like how the newer books pull in some of the characters from the early sets. In this one, Ginny really doesn't have a clue as to what her parent's business dealings are. So, as a result goons come after her for whatever her father had given her before he died. She meets Kade and they click right away. Ginny has had relationship woes in the past and with her parents marriage not the best she has trust issues. She tries
her best and prays for the best she can be. She just doesn't believe as much as Kade does right now, but she is getting there. A great book with a touch of romance and mystery. Looking forward to the next one.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and wouldn't let go. The characters were well developed and I felt like I knew them. I liked how this book played out. I felt Ginny's fears and her disappointments throughout the book. She had a strength of character that made her more endearing. Kade was tenacious in his pursuit of Ginny. I love how these two had to wade through their insecurities apart and with each other to become stronger. The suspense in the book made the story keep moving. I like how Ginny stands up for what she wants and tries her best to find out about her past. I recommend this book to those that have had a rough past and are trying to change their futures. It's also for those that love suspense romance.

Couldn't put it down!

Robin Patchen wrote an excellent book called Legacy Rejected. It's an incredible first in a series that I can't wait to continue reading. I have never heard of Christian romantic suspense before this one. It's my new favorite genre. I will read all of Robin Patchen's books. This was that good! Kade and Ginny were wonderfully written characters. You're drawn into their lives, their story. The romance was sweet and genuine. The suspense was well written. Even though I figured out several of the plot points beforehand, I was still interested because the story was gripping.
I loved the talk of God throughout the story. His goodness and grace in the face of hardships is what gets us through those times. I highly recommend Legacy Rejected!

LEGACY. REJECTED by Robin Patchen
A mother who shoved her out of the house when her Dad died. Ginny relocated to be closer to her sister Kathryn and the kids, it was a slow process. Kathryn had a hard shell about her, could she break through it, and know the sister when they were kids. A surprise visit and bringing a K C package, and a moving van is at the house. Sister giving her a warning to leave while she can, tell no one,.because of parents associates. She has no one now, and no answers so why run. Kade a real estate investor had bought the place, he had thought asking her out a number of times. Seeing how shocked she now looks, wonders what is really going on.
Good tense story with the mob after you, what will be the outcome.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Beautiful story about redemption, standing up for truth, and finding your true home. In this story Kade and Ginny meet and are drawn to one another. As their friendship develops, it is tested by the trials of life. How does one respond when someone you love is being locked at negatively to the point that it’s having a negative impact on you? Do you stand by then or cut ties and run? Kade and Ginny face that choice and you will have to get a copy to find out how they respond.

My 2 favorite quotes are
Chapter 4: if you live your life, if you’re going after your dreams, you’re successful
Chapter 14: God could redeem all of this, make it work out for his good.

Legacy Rejected is a wonderful story of how a strong relationship between two people thrust together by a chance meeting developed, against all odds and despite many obstacles. It's heart warming to find such a well written, plausible - yet often harrowing - story. Robin Patchen draws you in and keeps you there right to the end. It is not your usual soppy romance but a story filled with intrigue, compassion and the enduring love of two people faced with many challenges. If you haven't read the Beauty In Flight Series, in which Ginny makes her first appearance, then I recommend you do, although Legacy Rejected can be read as a stand alone story. Highly Recommended.

The plot of this story is wonderful - of course - but it’s the lessons of personal value, of The God Who Sees Me, that leave the greatest impression. Ginny is a young woman who wants to create a home. She’s never known what most people take for granted so she sets out to make it for herself. Kade is a blessed man and he knows it, but he never really valued it until he saw things through Ginny’s eyes. When trouble comes, where will they turn? Kade has that foundation of faith but Ginny is still seeking. As evil comes closer Ginny’s recall of scripture inspired me to rely less on myself and more on God. Great story.

When Ginny arrived in New Hampshire she didn’t know her life would be in danger. Kathryn warns Ginny to leave town before Kathryn and her family left. Kade is a wonderful man that. The way he helps to protect Ginny is truly remarkable. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful story. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review.

Interesting tale

Legacy Rejected by Robin Patchen tells the convoluted tale of a woman whose parents' legacy to her was a crime-ridden existence of which she was unaware. There was a problem with her age, however, as she was 7 years old at the time of Hurricane Katrina (2005). This would make her 21, yet she had graduated from college and worked a few years. Her sister was 4 years older (25) yet she was married and had four children. These nitpicky things drive me around the bend. Aside from that the book was excellent.

Honestly, I was confused and thought I had already read this. What a great surprise to find there was a Robin Patchen book (and on my Kindle the whole time) that I hadn't read yet! The one moment in this narrative that stood out to me the most was when Ginny was held by two murderers who had definite plans to kill her. As she prayed continually, asking God for help, I found myself praying right along with her--that's how wrapped up I was in the story! Gotta love a book that keeps you mesmerized, yet reminds you of how important prayer is in one's life.

This may be my favorite installment yet. I love the characters but I especially love how the author incorporates God throughout their tests and trials. A Christian novel that doesn't share Christ is not worthy of being a Christian (in my humble opinion). I love the fact that the author shares with us, how we are not "where we come from". Our biological parents and family may fail us, as Ginny's did, but our heavenly Father will never fail.

Kade was a rock for Ginny even though that rock got a little weary at time. Our solid Rock, will never grow weary.

Another wonderful adventure in Nutfield from author Robin Patchen. As always, her characters are engaging and quirky, the setting is *the* small town we all wished we lived in, and there are parts of the story that keep you guessing. While it's fun to see the cameo appearances of characters from her other series, there's no need to read them before reading this. But if you haven't - you'll want to anyway!

Robin's characters are always interesting and believable, and her stories are complex. The mystery starts with the first few pages! In this story she outdoes herself with a very entangled backstory related to the main character, Ginny. It unfolds bit-by-bit, which had me turning pages quickly. Ginny is also portrayed as a person of integrity and heart. A sweet, clean romance with a man of character is also included. If you're looking for romance with mystery, this will fit the bill!

Legacy Rejected is a thrill ride. Ginny had no idea her parents were involved with mobsters until they came after her. Her sister and mother tell her to run but she likes her new home in New Hampshire so she decides to stand her ground. With help from friend, Kade, Ginny will fight to live her own life without the shadows of her past. Only problem is, the mob has different ideas. I highly recommend this and can't wait for Legacy Restored.

This was a good book. I loved it but not quite as much as some of the others in the Nutfield Saga but was still an excellent read. Looking forward to the next one in this series. I will say there was definitely more drama and build up in this book but that's only my opinion. I think you will enjoy it if you are looking to read a romance/suspense book and you will enjoy it even more if you are a Christian because as always the author shares her faith.
