Legacy Reclaimed

Rate this book
She’ll risk anything to save the company her parents built. He’ll risk anything to save her. Her enemies will stop at nothing to make sure they both fail.

Chelsea Hamilton spent her life preparing to run the international clothing business her parents started, but she’s still caught off guard when she learns of her mother’s untimely death. Chelsea returns to New Hampshire, buries her mother, and prepares to take the helm at the business. When a stranger attempts to kill her, she realizes somebody doesn’t want her to inherit her legacy.

Since quitting the police force and opening his own private investigation agency, Dylan O’Donnell has spent most of his time searching for lost teens. He doesn’t know what to think of the beautiful woman seeking his services, and he’s even more surprised when she tells him her story. Hers isn’t the kind of case he’s accustomed to handling, and she isn’t the kind of client he quit his steady job to help, but something about the woman—with her high-end purse and designer clothes—pulls at him. She’s in danger, and he can’t turn her away.

Together, they dig into her family secrets. The closer they get to the truth, the closer they grow to one another. Can Chelsea save the legacy her parents fought to leave her? Can Dylan save Chelsea from the enemies determined to see her dead?

Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball-and-chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she’s not writing, she’s editing or reading, proving most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. Interesting legacy in this third novel of the series. Chelsea Hamilton is well off financially due to the company built by her parents: a clothing line that manufactures clothes in small Coventry, New Hampshire. So many in the town rely on the company for their livelihood. Chelsea finds herself unexpectedly at the helm following her mother's death. She then becomes a target, but who would want to harm the CEO of the town's largest employer? Unraveling the mystery with the aid of Private Investigator Dylan O'Donnell was an enjoyable journey.

I look forward to continuing this solid series. My gratitude to author Robin Patchen for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Robin Patchen does it again! Another spectacular romantic suspsense novel that you won't want to miss! This is the 3rd book in the Legacy series, but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Fans of the series will be glad to see Angel and Donovan again, but their history is not important to the story-line of this book. Also, fans of the Hidden Truth series will be glad to see Eric and Kelsey Nolan again as well (again, their history is not important to this story, but it's fun to see some "familiar faces").

In this story, Chelsea Hamilton returns to Coventry, NH after her mom's death to take over the family business. When an attempt is made on her life as well, Chelsea hides at her dad's old fishing cabin in Nutfield (another "familiar" place to fans of the author). It's in Nutfield that she meets PI Dylan O'Donnell and feels the Lord's prompting to trust him to help her figure out who's targeting her. Every answer they obtain raises more questions and Chelsea's circle of those she can trust continues to dwindle. Will they be able to find out who has placed a target on Chelsea's back before it's too late?

This is another intensely suspenseful story line by Ms. Patchen. Though I thought I knew the bad guy pretty early on, there were several twists and turns that threw me off. And though I was kinda sorta right about it, there was a lot more than met the eye going on. The action kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were well developed, compatible and likable. I found Dylan to be endearing and I'm pretty sure Chelsea and I would have been great friends. There was also a strong faith thread as both characters relied on God to guide them and bring help. While the romance element of romantic suspense is not my favorite part, Ms. Patchen always does a great job of keeping it realistic. I loved how Dylan handled expressing his feelings to Chelsea and the freedom he gave her in responding. The suspense and romance were well balanced in this one, I felt. Overall, I would strongly recommend this one to fans of inspirational romantic suspense.

Special thanks to the author for an advanced ecopy of this book. I was under no obligation to write a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

I spent my rainy Saturday on the edge of my sofa reading Legacy Reclaimed by author Robin Patchen. The beginning hooked me as I desperately wanted to help Chelsea Hamilton climb up from the wall of the cliff after someone pushed her over! Chelsea is home for her mother's funeral and not only is she trying to cope with the grief, but something has happened to all of her accounts. She has no access to her money and ends up nearly starving. She goes to a food pantry hoping for a few cans of food to sustain her until she can find out what has happened to her accounts. It seems things happen for a reason because she meets PI Dylan O’Donnell as she waits, and after he hears her story he offers to help.
Chelsea learns the clothing company that her mother and father started seems to be in trouble. How could this have happened? Dylan suspects that her father's murder twelve years earlier and now her mother's death are not coincidences.
Legacy Reclaimed has wonderful characters and keeps the reader turning the pages guessing if Chelsea will survive the attempts on her life. The faith-based suspense is intriguing and can be read as a stand-alone book, even though it is part of the 'Legacy' series. Yes, more of Chelsea and Dylan, please!
Thank you to Robin Patchen for the opportunity to read and post an honest review of this book.

Oh Robin, I loved this book! It is so full of excitement, drama, humor, and love. Well of course there has to be some pain thrown in to make it complete and it is a complete story. I could hardly put it down to get a little sleep! Thank you for the great story Robin!

When Chelsea returns to the little town of Coventry after being gone for 13 years she can't believe the attitude of the people towards her. When she finds her cell has no reception and her credit and debit cards won't work she can't imagine what is going on. After 3 days of no food she looks to see if she could get something from a food bank. When she meets a man there and God tells her to trust him she doesn't understand but she knows to listen to God's voice. Dylan can't believe his eyes when he sees a woman at the food bank, he is sure is carrying a Louis Vuitton purse. What in the world is she doing here? When God tells him to help her he attempts to talk to her. Chelsea has a world of hurt going on inside her and she isn't sure who she can trust. When Dylan tells her he doesn't want her to trust anyone,, she doesn't know whether to listen to him or not. As usual Ms. Patchen writes a book that I am unable to put down. I got so interested in what was going on in Chelsea's life that I had to keep turning the page, until I fell asleep and my phone fell to the floor. This story has everything I enjoy in a great book. There is the mystery of who is after Chelsea and why. There is suspense as they try to stay one step ahead and there is a natural way in how she and Dylan come to know each other and learn to trust as they lean on God to help them. And the location of the story is described as a beautiful, magical place where the mountains are a backdrop to the lakes, rivers and forests that surround the tourist town of Coventry. I totally recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a book that keeps their attention from beginning to end.
I received a free download of this book from the publisher.. I am leaving a review because I totally enjoyed this book and wanted to share my own honest opinion of it.

I fell in love with Robin Patchen’s writing style when I read 'Convenient Lies'. She got me hooked then, and every time I begin another of her books I keep thinking, ‘she’ll never top the last one’… but then she comes up with a new storyline that lures me in. Legacy Reclaimed is no different. It’s another page turner. You might want to clear your schedule for a day because this third book in the Legacy series is hard to put down. Don’t be surprised if it grabs you at page one. And there’s no need to try to guess who the ‘bad guy’ is because just as soon as you ‘think’ you know, you just may find yourself surprised.

This is a story of faith but also of betrayal, of loss. It’s a story with plot twists, but easy to follow. As as reader you’’ll probably be so drawn into the storyline that it seems like you are there witnessing it all. Although this is the third in the Legacy series, it can be read as a stand alone.

It’s Romantic Suspense at it’s best… true Robin Patchen style. This is not a ‘preachy’ book at all, but it doesn’t need to be. The characters themselves are a testament of faith, of overcoming hardships and struggles.

While I wasn't able to read the two earlier books in this series, I was thankful to get an opportunity to read #3 through being an ARC reader. And for anyone else who missed the others, don't be concerned about needing that background to enjoy book 3. I didn't find myself at all at a loss as I enjoyed Robin Patchen's weaving her romance through suspense on this one. One thing I didn't like was the seeming love at first sight that often occurs in her novels, nor the fact that both of the major participants were extremely good looking. Life just isn't like that. But-with those two things keeping me from adding a fifth star to my review, the story line definitely held my attention and I was amazed to not find ANY editing errors. As an ARC reader for a number of authors, I don't recall ever having that happen before. Don't miss this series, even if you only get in on the last of it (or IS this the last book of this series?).

Legacy Reclaimed is incredible. Robin has written a very suspenseful and enjoyable book for this next in the Legacy Series. It moved along at a good and believable pace. As per normal with Robin’s books, I had a difficult time putting it down and completed it in one day. I loved Dylan in the second book of this series and was pleased that he is our hero in this book. Dylan is a man very committed to his faith. Chelsea also is a committed Christian and her faith was put to the test in all the hardships she faced in life. Instead of brooding and putting blame on others for these hardships, she gave them up to God. She is a terrific testament and example of a strong faith. I cannot recommend this book enough. It deserves a rating of much higher than a 5. This is one book I will pick up and read again. Highly recommend.

I received an advance copy from the author. This review is my honest opinion.

Upon the death of her mother, Chelsea returns to the US from Paris to attend the funeral and to take over running HCI. But someone is out to see that she doesn’t do that. Multiple attempts are made on her life. In order to thwart her death, she and her PI must uncover who is behind all that has happened.
Spellbinding and lots of action contribute to this fast-paced story. ENJOY!
Well done, Robin Patchen!

Legacy Reclaimed starts out with nail biting, heart pounding suspense. Chelsea has returned to America for her mother’s funeral. Little does she know the danger that awaits.
Dylan is intrigued by the young woman he sees outside the food bank. Wearing expensive clothes, with a designer handbag, she isn’t the typical client. His instincts spur him to help her.
Can loss set your life on a course of action that cannot be changed, or is that the direction you were always meant to go? Do things happen by coincidence, or is God at work in every circumstance?
These are questions that Chelsea and Dylan must ask themselves as as they navigate their growing interest in each other, and search for the person who’s trying to kill Chelsea.
This book has the perfect balance of suspense and romance. The characters are real and well written. A great read!

Excellent book. Love the Legacy series. Another winner by Robin. Couldn't put the book down. It grabs you right in the beginning and you just have to keep reading. Has suspense, betrayal, twist and turns and romance. Who is killing off the Hamilton family, one at a time and why? You will be engrossed in the journey Chelsea and Dylan take to discover the answers. Will Chelsea be able to come to grips with the truth and move on? Can her love and trust of God and Dylan bring her comfort in her hour of need? You will have to read to find out. Highly recommend the book. You will find you have spent your time wisely reading this story. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Received an ARC and this is my honest voluntary review.

If you love a book that keeps you engaged and on the edge of your seat to the end, Robin Patchen is your author.

Chelsea’s life is a roller coaster of pain and danger everywhere. Luckily God has provided her a protection.

You won’t be able to put the book down. High excitement, danger at every turn and God’s provision keeping her safe. You might not guess who all are behind the evil against Chelsea and her parent’s business. A must read!

Legacy Reclaimed is such a good book. I was able to guess the plot from close to the beginning but that is fine. The story and characters are intriguing.
The fact that God was the guiding force in the main characters story was heartwarming and substantial to the nature of the book.
Looking at the bad guys and their refusal to believe in God is also very relevant to the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a mysterious thriller with good characters and a little love thrown in!
This book was with waiting for!
I was given this book with the hope that I might leave a review. I will purchase it as soon as it is available.

Another great read from Robin Patchen. You are hooked from the beginning and it's another "can't put it down" until you are finished mystery. You will get to know Chelsea and Dylan as they get to know each other and attempt to solve several strange happenings and deaths. If you have read Robin before you know the great character development her stories have and you feel as if you know each person. You will be cheering for some relationships and questioning others, all while trying to figure out just who is trustworthy and who may not be. As with Robins other books just don't start reading before bed or you will miss a night of sleep because you will not put the book down.

Chelsea Hamilton is heir to a clothing manufacturing company. Her mother has died in a car accident and she is coming from Paris to take the reins of the company. Someone tries to push her off a cliff while hiking. She survives and tries to buy food and finds her credit cards are locked. She runs into Dylan O'Donnell, a PI, who helps her buy food. Her jeep will not start and he takes her to her cabin, only to be greeted with a gun shot. This is a suspenseful thriller with some romance. A page turning novel to keep you interested.

Robin did it again. An action filled story with a budding romance to make a great story. Action starts in the first chapter. An attempted murder, coupled with a handsome private investigator, and a autistic friend that hold the answers keeps you guessing. When you think it is over there is one more twist.

An heiress and a private investigator met at a food bank...

-‘Someone had tried to kill her.’-

Chelsea Hamilton returns to the States after living abroad for several years. She returns earlier than expected when she learns of her mother’s death and she inherits the family company. While out on a hike near her home, someone tries to kill her by knocking he off a cliff. When she’s nearly shot at her father’s cabin it’s obvious she is being targeted and these incidents are no accident. But who would want her dead? And why? She’s been out of the country for years. Unsure of who to trust, she relies on God’s leading and a virtual stranger to help her find out who is trying to kill her. As they come closer to finding out the truth, she just may find out more than she’d bargained for...

-‘“Why didn’t the God you trust so much keep it from happening at all?” He stared forward, lips pressed together. “First your father, then your mother, now you. After all that tragedy, how can you still believe there’s a God who loves you?”’-

Robin Patchen always provides a riveting read! I loved the characters, the pacing, the plot... all of it! So good! This is part of a series and some previous characters make a brief appearance, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. Christian romantic suspense at its best! I absolutely, highly recommend this book.

Chelsea Hamilton is back in her home town, but not for anything pleasant at all. Her mother has died most unexpectedly. Chelsea cannot imagine life without Mum, especially after losing her dad at the young age of ten.
Chelsea has been abroad studying to prepare her to run her parents' company one day.
Chelsea goes into hiding following an attempt on her life. She then discovers her debit card and credit cards no longer work. What is going on? Injured, scared, desperate and hungry drives her to a food bank where she meets Dylon. After learning that he was a cop, now turned private investigator, she hires him to help keep her safe and find the person who wants her dead.
Events lead them to begin to believe that maybe her mother's death was accidental, as believed by the authorities. But, who would possibly want her dead, and now Chelsea, as well? Her parents' company has done so much for the town of Coventry-employing many of them. Can it possibly be someone they know and care for?
Things really heat up after another attempt is made on Chelsea's life. I admire her faith and that she is not afraid to talk about it, even to her uncle who is a nonbeliever and scoffs at it.
This is a fast paced suspenseful story with some romance. What could be better?
Grateful to the author, Robin Patchen, who allowed me to read and advanced copy of this book. I was under no obligation to write a positive review, although, how could I not after reading this! Highly recommend!

Another enjoyable story by Robin Patchen set in the vicinity of the fictional town of Nutfield, New Hampshire. Several of the characters are familiar, having appeared first in one of her previous books. Chelsea is the heroine of this story. The story opens with her having just returned home from Paris for her mother’s funeral. Although she has lived a life of privilege, she has truly missed home and her mother. After getting pushed off a cliff the morning after her mother’s funeral and being left for dead, she tenaciously finds her way to safety, gets medical help, and leaves town to hide while the police search for her would-be murderer. Meeting Dylan O’Donnell, a private investigator, is providential. The action ramps up quickly from the first chapter and continues almost non-stop to the conclusion. I appreciated the strong faith shared by Chelsea and Dylan. I think the story would have had a different ending without their faith. The suspense was tangible and compelling, grabbing and holding the reader all the way, never knowing what would happen next while trying to figure things out. Even though I thought I was starting to figure out the guilty party two or three times, I had to wait until the end to get the answers to the who and why questions. I never want to meet any of the bad guys in Robin’s books, but I think I would enjoy spending some time visiting a place like Nutfield. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
