What would it be like to enter someone's mind and see what they were thinking, to view their ideas. On the other hand, what if they were inside your mind? Antimatter had been controlled and was used for power of the spaceship that the scientist Nina remembered, when she woke up after the explosion. But being the only survivor of the crash, and deep in enemy territory was not her major problem. It was the voice on her head and the double vision in her eyes. As a Warrior who had spent his entire life fighting and protecting others, he had gone deep into enemy territory to cover the insertion of the technical people who needed to find out information on a new weapon. The explosion took out everything, all his people, all the buildings and even the ground, leaving a round hole in the ground. It also left him with a strange voice in his head and double vision of sights he didn’t understand. Had they both gone insane from the contact of Antimatter on two different worlds so far apart they weren’t even on each other’s star chart?

M. Garnet’s book “Merged Event” plunges you headfirst into a fascinating premise: what if you suddenly found yourself sharing a mind with someone light-years away?
We meet Nina Brice Gurten, a scientist, and Yez a Warrior, both survivors of catastrophic antimatter explosions on vastly different worlds.
Each has his or her own individual struggles after an explosion that somehow affected their minds.
There is distrust at first, but slowly a bond builds in both through their shared voice and double vision that allows each of them to see the other’s world. The ending of the novel reveals the depth of this trust.
Ms Garnet masterfully builds suspense around this connection, making you question along with the characters whether they've gone insane or if something far more profound (and dangerous) is at play.
The pacing feels quick and relentless, pulling you through the mystery of their shared consciousness and the broader implications of the antimatter incident. It’s a genuinely clever concept, executed with enough intrigue to keep the pages turning.
While the core mystery is incredibly engaging, there were a few moments where the narrative felt like it was setting up for a slightly more predictable path than I’d hoped, preventing it from being a full five-star read.
If you're looking for a sci-fi thriller that blends action with a deep dive into consciousness and identity, this is definitely one to pick up.
It's a strong, imaginative entry into the genre that leaves you eager for more.
