Great clean read full of hope, family, and solid relationships. Set in a time where super powers or elements are possessed by normal people. But not all elements are used for good. There is also a little Romeo and Juliet story line. Suspense builds between the different elemental groups, who will prevail?

As these two navigate life as Elementals they face territory battles, an enemy that wants to put an end to their bond, and a sweet and tender budding romance. Pretty good!
The Christian part was done really well, and I was surprised there were actually some Bible verses quoted!

Reader’s Notes:

– this is the first of a series & must be read in order

– this is told from Vela’s point of view

– it is mentioned that Vela’s family’s home had burnt down in a fire, Vela gained scars from the burns, & a pet was lost to it

– there are many mentions of God, belief in Him, prayer, & other things to do with following the God of the Bible

– there is some fantasy violence (battles, kidnapping, injuries, almost death from injuries)

Review:

I’d rate this more like a 4.5, but only because Vela’s back & forth emotions about her connection to Linc (and what kind of Elemental he is) got a bit annoying. Though since this was a me thing (as her emotional changes with the subject made sense despite it annoying me a bit), I rounded up for sites that only allow ratings with full stars.

I enjoyed getting to learn about this world! I loved the star-crossed/enemies to love aspect of Vela & Linc’s story so far. Linc was a great love interest & I loved that he was fairly patient with Vela’s feelings on his element. I loved the odds that were against the two of them and the mysterious/dangerous secret organization. I also loved Vela’s relationship with her family & her best friend. I loved that Elia (her best friend) was rooting for a real relationship to grow from the bond between the two of them and tried pushing them together whenever possible! There were a few surprising twists that I didn’t expect that also came in the story & I’m curious what will happen in the coming books with this new knowledge! I also liked the elements of the Christian faith throughout the story and I wonder what other lessons/realizations Vela will have in that regard!

Summary:

Vela is an Earth Elemental and dreams of using her powers to run a flower shop when she gets older. But when a Fire Elemental moves into the area, everything that Vela planned and thought she knew is thrown. Because no matter how much Vela knows she hates those of the fire element, something is drawing her to Linc. That something being a bond that is rarely found by any Elemental. It is drawing her to Linc and causing a war within herself. Can she let go of her past hurt to be able to move forward in this fated relationship?

A bond like this is rare enough, but a bond between two different types of Elementals is not only unheard of but cause for alarm for those who like the division between all types of Elementals. So not only does Vela have to decide if she wants to keep or reject this unexpected bond, but she has to be careful who discovers their secret. Because if their bond is discovered by the wrong people, both Vela & Linc could be in danger from a secret organization bent on keeping everyone separated. Especially since their bond could be the fated pairing told in a prophecy that says they’ll unite all Elementals…

I was very intrigued and excited to read the first book of an Elemental Series by Sofia Simpson.

Vela, an earth elemental, wants to focus on graduating high school so she can then open her own flower shop. When she meets a new classmate, Linc, she is determined to avoid him at all costs since is a fire elemental, one of the earth elemental’s sworn enemies. Vela realizes that Linc is her Intended Bond, which means their lives are instinctively drawn together. Linc realizes this too, and pursues Vela. When they both discover that their bond might be one to fulfill a prophecy, Vela and Linc must keep their relationship a secret, as many people will stop at nothing to tear them apart.

This story gave me all the feels! From the conflicting emotions Vela felt for Linc, to Linc’s mysterious appearance in Vela’s life, to the territory wars between the elementals, and Vela’s own journey to finding peace, forgiveness, and love-I was enthralled by everything and every moment in between. I absolutely loved the faith aspects and how the fantastical elements were interwoven with faith and biblical themes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first novel and cannot wait to read book 2.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but I am leaving my thoughts and review voluntarily and happily.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the first book of the author's that I've read and I would like to read more from her. This is the first book in the An Elemental Series and isn't a standalone. The book's blurb lets you know what to expect. Terra is told through third person Vela's pov and is a great story about forgiveness and acceptance.

Terra is a Christian fantasy so faith elements are included throughout the book. As long as you don't have negative feelings towards God, then this book can still be enjoyed even if you don't believe in Him. Of course, believers will be very satisfied with the discussions and the importance of prayer that the characters and story present.

Because of her past, Vela was carrying anger and hatred towards Fire Elementals so meeting Linc and realizing that they share a bond is the last thing she could want. Aside from who he is, she's focused on finishing high school and her dreams of owning a flower shop. All those things make it difficult for her to want to accept Linc as her Intended but it doesn't scare him off. He's confident, when it comes to knowing she feels the same way that he does, but is persistently patient. As he finds ways to get closer to her, Vela begins to wonder if she can trust him and say yes to their bond.

Because of Vela's feelings, their romance was one of enemies to lovers. However, it was one sided since Linc never viewed her as a foe. While some readers could be frustrated, I enjoyed the fact that Vela attempted to deny her feelings and their bond for as long as she could. With her anger and lack of trust, it was believable that the development of their relationship would be slow. But, they have plenty of fun interactions, and some arguments, to make things fun. Their romance is a clean one consisting of only kissing, that is more descriptive than saying "they kissed" but not steamy, and no curse words are used. Aside from the romance, I liked the fact that they both made mistakes and had to learn from them. Their reactions felt appropriate for their age too. As for the action part of the story, the violence is pg-13 level, which isn't overly graphic. I liked the concept of the story and the conflict. I was eager to find out more about Vela and Linc's bond and the prophecy. The author did a good job in world building too and I can't wait to continue the story with the next book in the series.

Terra is the first book in the Elemental series which combines all my favorite genres - Young Adult Christian Fantasy.

The book is very well written and even though it started rather slowly, I was intrigued by the story and all the mysteries that seem to appear out of nowhere.

One thing I had to get on board with is the bond between two people, some form of soul connection. I’ve read a few fated lovers stories and while I have to say it has its appeal, I am someone who thinks everything through. So I wondered a lot about what if two people fall in love, decide to marry and make a commitment only to find their intended later and are now completely helpless to the situation?
This book is obviously not about this scenario, but a big part of the story was about how Vela and Linc can’t fight their attraction and pull toward each other. So like I said, I just had to forget about all the kind of tragic possibilities this intended bond could bring - since finding this one special person is very rare - and just get on board with Vela’s and Linc’s story.

I did love the back and forth between Vela and Linc, but it got really interesting a bit later in the story when the action picked up and Vela is confronted with a real threat and something bigger that she could ever imagine.

Questions about faith are asked often and God is not a side note, but a central element (no pun intended) in this book. Vela is actually a quite judgemental person and I have to be honest, I’m not her biggest fan even though I could empathize with her and the reasons for her distrust. But she was full of prejudice and negativity, not really thinking through what her judgment of all fire elementals would say about a God who made all elementals alongside regular humans and how narrow-minded her hate actually was. I loved that this side of her was used for growth in character and in faith.

This is a clean YA Romance with a more than interesting beginning adventure, that I couldn’t wait to find out more about, so if you read this series starter, be prepared to jump into the next book right after!
* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.

🦋Terra🦋 by Sofia Simpson is the first book in her Christian YA Elemental Fantasy Series with lovely details such as:

✨ Fated Mates
💙 Twilight Vibes
⚔️ Enemies to Lovers
❄️ Minty Clean Romance
🌿 Plant Growing Powers
🕊️ Deep Themes of Faith
🏕️ Camping Adventures
🐾 Doberman Companion
🔥 Overcoming Prejudices

💙 This story was amazing from start to finish! I loved the way the main characters all had a strong faith, and showed what a God Honoring family should look like, loving and supporting each other unconditionally.

🦋 I loved that the themes of faith ran deep throughout the entire story, with biblical scriptures and life lessons woven throughout the storyline flawlessly. It was so refreshing to read a christian fantasy that really truly focuses on the faith elements. Vela is a relatable heroine who’s strong, yet knows how important it is to humble yourself in prayer and continually seek God’s will above your own, and how hard that is to do during painful, scary and confusing circumstances.
The way she continually prayed through it all was very inspiring!

💙 If you’re a Christian looking for a series with clean romance, elemental powers and fantasy adventures…That is not only God honoring but will also strengthen your faith in God...Then you need to add Terra to your TBR! Vela and Linc’s story is a whirlwind of emotion and the best part is; There’s two more books to read after Terra that are already available, so feel free to cancel your weekend plans and binge read this series!

🦋 Thank you @sofiasimpsonauthor for the honor of arc reading your book, I absolutely loved it and would rate it

In this YA novel we are introduced to a different sort of paranormal people. They are called elementals who have divided themselves into clans according to their elements. The elements being fire, earth, wind, and water. They have also divided up territories of earth and they are quite protective of their borders. This story focuses on an elemental family of earth, they call themselves gyans, in Colorado. The author does provide a map of the USA and how it looks to these beings in regard to their territory. And since they have divided themselves, they do not trust one another or get along. The humans know nothing of them.

Vela is a senior in high school and has a deep dislike for the fire elementals due to a very tragic past encounter with them. One that has left scars. So, when a new kid shows up at school and he is a festan (fire), well, Vela is determined to show him nothing but disdain. But her feelings soon change when she finds out he is basically her soul mate. His name is Link, and whether Vela wanted to like him or not, everyone else did. And he definitely likes her. Their banter and adventure were a nice break from the rest of the world for a while.

There is a lot of world building in this story and the author does it quite well, but to fully understand it you really need to be immersed in the story. I was and I have touched only a bit on what the story is about because this is a very intricate world full of family, love, hate, and purpose, intense at times but worth the read.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

After finishing this book, I honestly have to say I am left with mixed feelings. There is much about the story that I enjoyed. I love that the premise of the novel centers around Elementals. I really enjoyed Simpson’s take on them, and how she weaved faith into it, as well. The idea of Vela and Linc also being part of a prophecy was incredibly intriguing, and I felt myself needing to know more about that. The ending itself was exciting but also left readers wanting to know more about what will happen to Vela and Linc.

However, it took me more than halfway into the book to really get into the story. I felt that there was not much depth to Vela’s character until way later in the novel. For the majority of it, her entire character centered around Linc, her bond with him, and her not wanting to be bonded with him. Anytime she got close or felt comfortable around him, he would do or say something that would upset her and she would try to run away from him again. I kept wanting more from her, from Linc, from their relationship. It took way too long to get to the prophecy because of that, and I would have enjoyed the story more if that hadn’t been the case.

Putting that aside, however, I would still recommend this book for any Christian teenage girls who love fantasy. Simpson is a talented author, and she creates a wonderful world with the Elementals. There’s also a strong thread of faith and a good message in the story.

I had received a copy of the book as part of the Celebrate Lit Blogging Team and was required to give an honest review.

I found this to be a really refreshing and pleasantly surprising fantasy read! What struck me most was the significant element of Christian theology. Going into reading this, I hadn’t really expected for it to be set in a Christian world, let alone that the theology would be so biblically based. I felt that it had a lot of depth to it and fit very well into the fantasy world that was established. It reinforces really positive messages about family, faith and relationships that are very wholesome to find in a fantasy book.

I also really liked the main character’s romance and felt that there was a good balance between focusing on it and on the greater plot. I loved Linc as the love interest! He was a very intriguing and mysterious character. I also liked how family was one of the central elements of the story.

There are only brief points that stood out to me as areas for improvement. I found a few small writing errors that could be easily rectified with further editing. I also felt that on occasion the dialogue between Vela and her best friend Elia wasn’t quite organic in reflecting their relationship.

I’d definitely recommend this to fans of Christian fantasy novels with a strong romance element! I hope to continue the series with Torch and read the independent story of Kane and Elia in Operation Kane.

Thank you to Victory Editing for providing a copy of this title on NetGalley for review!

A boy and girl with a magical bond that deems them fated as soulmates…Magical groups at war...And prophecy that leads to a plot-twisting book, full of gripping moments and swoony kisses.

First of all, thank you to @sofiasimpsonauthor for a free copy of Terra! I enjoyed this book. The romance made me blush and flip pages fast because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen between Linc and Vela. Sofia Simpson kept the romance clean, but easily addictive because of the banter and dreamy moments. I liked that Linc respected Vela, but also couldn’t help but pursue her. I enjoyed the YA feel of the romance and I think Sofia mastered the YA elements of the story. She showed a complicated romance between two teenagers in high school while also revealing their inner struggles and trials.

The magical groups/system greatly intrigued me as I read. Sofia depicted each power group and their individual powers well throughout the story. I also loved the prophecy aspect interwoven into the magical system, which caused mystery and suspense. I liked Vela and her family used their powers, but also included God in their created abilities. That impacted me and I loved the representation of faith elements and Christian idealisms within the book.

Read this book if you’re looking for YA romance, magical abilities, a faithful dog, and a main character who honors God!

Terra by Sofia Simpson was a delight to read. It was my first experience with books about elementals and their gifts.

There are a number of significant themes within the story. An important one is about what we learn as children and how it affects our adult decisions. So, too, are various degrees of prejudice and forgiveness. The idea of forgiveness as opposed to just forgetting or burying an experience was so spot on!

The deep faith of the main characters was so refreshing. How they trusted God’s will for their lives… or, in Vela’s case, came to understand trusting God completely. Vela’s conversations with God helped me look at my own conversations with God in a fresh way.

Terra would be a suitable book for teens, yet would not seem childish to adults. This book has it all… teenage grumpiness, sweet romance, adventure, and some scary stuff. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next books in the series. I was honored to receive an advance copy of this book from BookSprouts and this is my voluntary review.

What a great story with many illustrations of faith. I liked how we see the decision to be with someone who isn’t accepted by others is a big dilemma . When an unexpected death happens the question is asked, “ Why do bad things happen to good people? I love the answer. “Free will.” I know it is hard to understand but remember we make our own choices.

The adventures begins as we begin to look at prejudice and choices that can cause chaos. I loved how we watch the characters go through trials and trust God as they go on a journey where danger follows. I really liked Vela and how she turned to God for answers. Dealing with forgiveness is a definite plus in the story. Being blamed for something you didn’t do is hard and Vela realizes she has shown hatred towards a group unfairly.

This would be a great book for young adults as well as adults who love fantasy, romance, faith and lessons in forgiveness and trusting God. I was impressed with the writing and look forward to more from this author.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Terra is a Young Adult Christian Fantasy that is written by Sofia Simpson. This is the first book that I have read by this author. While this is not my go to genre to read the author pulled me in within the first few pages.

Elementals don’t mix. They fight over territories constantly and news of their battles is everywhere. Our characters, Vela, an Earth Elemental and Linc, a Fire Elemental realize they have a bond when they meet. However, they have to keep it secret. The author has shown us the prejudice with the different elements. I loved the faith based element to the story - Vela seeks God to help make decisions. I loved the sweet romance and the danger that they faced.

The book is well written, the storyline intriguing. This is geared toward young adults, but I also enjoyed it. I am looking forward to book two. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

Terra gives me another reason why I should broaden my go to my book genre. I am not a huge fan of fantasy. However, Sofia Simpson, has written one that had me fascinated and discovering a whole new world. It was interesting to be transported away from the current chaos of life and diving into something different. It was full of adventure that made me feel as though I was part of the journey. I enjoyed getting to know the Elementals, Linc and Vela.

I am giving Terra four stars. I believe fans of clean Young Adult Christian Fantasy will want to give this one a read. I would be interested in reading more books like this from Sofia Simpson in the future.

I received a digital copy of Sofia Simpson’s Terra from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Terra by Sofia Simpson is a work of Young Adult Christian Fantasy. This book is the first book in a two-book series. Combining Christian beliefs with fantasy elements, this book will keep you reading.

Including ideas about trusting God, the act of forgiveness, prejudice, free will, and more.l The author does a good job developing the characters and storyline. I felt like the author did an excellent job weaving the various elements together to create a book worth reading.

Vela is a character who turns to God and faith when difficulties arise. I appreciated how the author took the time to build the storyline into one that kept me reading.

So, if you are looking for or are someone who enjoys Young Adult Christian Fantasy, check out Terra by Sofia Simpson.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved how Sofia threaded Christian beliefs into this book. The candid way that the characters discuss trusting in God, learning to forgive, and learning to let go for their own wants was beautiful. This is the second book in recent days that I have read that dealt with Elemental gifts, and I can say that I enjoyed Sofia's take on it much more than the other book I read.

My only criticism is that I wish there was a little better editing. There were times when characters were named wrong or the wording is a bit strange, but it did little to detract from the overall story. I look forward to seeing where this series ends up going!.

It's a life-long struggle for some; why bad things happen to "good" people. It's hard, this free will of ours. That's part of the theme of this story. It's advertised as a clean enemies-to-lovers book, and that's true. It was a clean read, and lovers might be taking that a bit far. The mix of Christian and fantasy was nice. I did have a hard time with Vela, but this is a two-book series. I really did like the great conversation about faith and God, life and getting through it, and a lot of forgiveness. I think this was a good YA read.

Thanks to Celebrate Lit for my digital copy of this book. This review is mine. A positive review is never required.

Holding on to anger is hard on your soul, it eats away at you and will hold you back from growing into the person whom you are supposed to be. This book explores that struggle of letting go of anger and giving it to God, in a sci fi fantasy YA novel. I admit I was skeptical of this premise going in to it most books that have a faith based message are also very juvenile and boring 🥱….. this book was not it might have started a bit slow but picked up pretty fast into a sweet story of love and what will hold you back from it….. I look forward to reading the next installment of this book releasing early 2024

I'm currently in my elemental fantasy era and this book did not disappoint. This book has everything from enemies to lovers, Christian faith, elemental fantasy, fated mates (Intended in this series), and a nice clean romance book. It follows Vela a Gyan who fears and hates Festans with a passion due to past events who ends up being Intended to a Festan. She has to come to terms with this fact and overcome her fears or reject the bond and continue with her life the way it is. I didn't know what to expect with this book but I have to say I'm glad I read it and I'm excited for book two to come out.

This is another book that I really thought I wouldn’t like but I have to say I was so wrong! I really ended up loving this and want to read the next one asap. This is a book filled with surprises and kept me turning the pages. This is a story that I think readers that don’t like fantasy or even Christian reads would like. This is a story that shows that sometimes things aren’t in our control but are meant to be.

I have to admit, I read this book in two days, ignoring many of my adult chores in the process. Even though my high school days are far behind me, Sofia Simpson somehow brought me back there and swept me up in the "enemies to lovers" romance of her main characters, Velia and Lincoln. The romance is just where the story starts. She somehow manages to weave the romance through secrets, faith, prejudices, and forgiveness.

I loved the way the author described the story. I could see the scenes in my mind. I felt that the use of the Bible verses were perfectly suited in the story so much so I searched some up in my bible :) great story I just finished this and am about to start the next one. Beautiful job Sofia!
