Killian du Pont is a regular Dom and manager at Fray, Melbourne’s premiere BDSM shifter club, but he only wants to play with one girl. A girl who craves pain over pleasure, soothing his beast, a gray buck kangaroo.

Problem: she isn’t his.

Emu shifter Lux belongs to no one. Her uniform consists of a collar she bought for herself, signature dark denim and a fluff of her own shifted feathers. Her loyalty belongs to her boss but her attention is drawn to Killian who irritates her with his overprotective streak but attracts her with his personal brand of dominance.

When Killian breaks through Lux’s edgy exterior, he discovers trauma and courage, but inner strength isn’t her weakness. Lux’s past haunts her to the club’s doorstep. Killian doesn’t know where Lux stands when Fray is threatened or if he’ll lose her just as he’s found her.

Shifters, Bigots and Surprising Rescues
Lux is a submissive masochist and bartender at Fray. Killian is the head of security at Fray, and a dominant sadist. What should be a perfect pair is complicated by personal rules, a painful past and some real bad characters. I found the book to be a rollercoaster, one that occasionally skipped the tracks, but with a thrilling ending. Overall, a good book.

Killian is a Dom and manager at club Fray, a BDSM club. He's also a kangaroo shifter. Lux is an emu shifter and a bartender at club Fray. Now let's just talk about these two for a second. An emu shifter and a kangaroo shifter, that's something I haven't read before and I loved that these were unique shifters that you don't hear a lot about. That was a lot of fun.

Killian is a sadist and likes to inflict pain but only on willing subs. While Lux is a masochist who likes pain and is a submissive. They've never played together or done a scene together though. Lux usually plays with someone else that she trusts but she belongs to no one and likes it that way. Killian is very much interested in Lux but keeps his distance because he has a rule for himself that he doesn't play with those he works with but it's getting harder and harder to keep this rule for himself since he really likes Lux and wants to be with her.

Lux had some secrets though and she keeps to herself for the most part and does her job. She doesn't want to get close to Killian because she doesn't trust others too easily because of something that happened in her past. When the truth comes out and we find out that some of the other shifters are racist against mixed breed shifters, it was sad. But I think it sent a really good message about accepting others for who they are and being nice to people because you never know what someone has gone through.

Thankfully Lux has the people she works with to help her and be there for her. Once Killian breaks through the wall she's put up and they get closer and he finds out all she's been through, I was actually shocked. The violence that she went though isn't something I was expecting but the connection between these two was strong and Killian ended up being such a great guy. I loved him and how great he was with her. This story gave me a few surprises and I really liked that. The romance was sweet even though their brand of BDSM was a bit too much for me, it worked for them and the story.

Club Fray is a safe place for shifters. It's become a safe haven and a family for this ragtag collection of shifter species. They aren't the "normal" shifters most of us are accustomed to. There's no bears, wolves or big cats. Instead there is an eagle, an emu, a swan, a kangaroo and some adorable baby quokkas. (I had to look up that last one. They are just sooo cute!)

Lux is an emu shifter who works at Club Fray's bar. She's a sub who craves pain. There's a lot in her past that most of her coworkers know nothing about. She's got a smart mouth and rarely backs down from a fight.

Killian is a kangaroo shifter who is a manager at the club. He's also a Dom with a sadist streak.

Trouble is brewing at the club. Some outside factions want only pure shifter strains, no cross breeding for them. They're becoming bolder with their actions. Lux survived an attack in the past. The group won't make that mistake again if they ever get a 2nd chance.

Killian finally got alone time with Lux on her birthday. Unfortunately, he didn't learn some of her secrets until it was too late. Will she forgive him? Will he be able to forgive himself?

This was a much darker story than "Kidnapped by Claws". It was a good story but I'm not into pain, so this book wasn't the best fit for me. But Killian did put a lot of thought and planning for his first night with Lux. Too bad he didn't know more of her history.

“The girl left me speechless, breathless.”

I really wish I could give this book a higher rating but unfortunately I can’t. The concept was unique and very interesting. The characters were fantastic. But that’s where it ends. To begin with there was way too much description and thoughts with not near enough dialogue. The characters acted contradictory to themselves, almost changing their personalities suddenly only to change back again later. I still don’t know why Killian suddenly decided to pull away from her. Too many plot details were left out so it often was confusing. There wasn’t enough background information about either main character. While I really liked both Lux and Killian, I never really felt much chemistry between them. As for the end, I didn’t understand most of what happened nor how everything was resolved. A lot was either vague or didn’t make sense and I think some of the pages are missing. Im not even sure if they got the bad guys or not. All in all the book was a big disappointment when it had such promise at the start. Oh well. Maybe her next book will be better.

Thoughts:
Raven Hush delivers yet another powerful work with Purge, a poignant novella. Hush creates a raw, emotional, breath stealing and unflinching journey of reclamation and healing. Hush demonstrates an excellent understanding of PTSD and trauma responses, portraying them with authenticity and respect, instead of stereotypical tropes. She dives into the FMC’s internal world of fear, hypervigilance, guilt, survival and a fractured sense of self. Along with her harrowing journey of healing and empowerment. The MMC can be maddeningly obtuse with his toxic masculinity but sheds some of this identity to give Lux what she needs. The chemistry between the main characters crackles with intensity, and when the tension ignites, the result is explosive. Purge is an experience you can’t afford to miss.

Killian manages a BDSM club and is also a Dom where he has eyes on one girl. Lux belongs to no one and plans to keep it that. Well, at least until Killain breaks through her tough exterior.

The BDSM scenes in this book were well planned and thought out, and they held true to what BDSM is supposed to be like. Lux and Killian had realistic moments together, as well as some you'll only ever find in romance novels, so it balanced reality with fantasy nicely.

My one critique is the plot suffered a little because of the steamy content. The story is based around the BDSM community, so its expected to have the steam, but the plot was lacking in action or high points outside of that.

He sent her senses soaring. - Killian has been enamored with Lux for a while, the kangaroo shifter longing for his Little Bird with a soul-deep yearning. Lux is skittish at the best of times, the ostrich-emu mix haunted by past betrayals that took so much more than her ability to trust. She feels the pull to Killian as well, even if she can't bring herself to be with anyone fully. Her trust will be hard won, his body the price he will pay as he defends her from those who would destroy her. But it's worth it when his Little Bird succumbs so sweetly to his touch alone. A steamy but still somehow sweet shorty with all the feels.

This was the second title I have read in the Club Fray series by Raven Hush and as a BDSM shifter romance I enjoyed it right from the start.
The main characters, Lux, an emu shifter and bartender and Killian, a kangaroo shifter, Dom and Lux's boss, are engaging and their chemistry and interactions are explored with skill showing the personal and traumatic issues Lux overcomes with Killian's patience and experience.
As steamy short read the author manages to pack in quite a lot to give you a spicy, emotionally intense paranormal romance and I was hooked to the very end for their HEA.

This book was a surprise to me, but a pleasant one. a shifter story and BDSM in one of my favorite genres in one. Killian and Lux's story is great she doesn't commit to anyone and is a free woman and Killian is a Dom and the manager of the club and only wants one thing and that is Lux. Will he manage to catch Lux?
This is a hot and steamy story with a touch of suspense, if you like both genres then this book is definitely recommended and well worth reading.

It Was Time He Get His Girl

He’d lusted after her for months but keeping his distance wasn’t happening anymore!

He was obsessed with her but would she take her collar of for him and wear his collar instead so he could claim her as his?

He could be the hero she always dreamed of but first she had to let go of her issues and learn to trust the one person who could with her everything.

A hot steamy read with a wonderful emotional ending!.

I really enjoyed this story of the shifter's BDSM club Fray. The story is about Liz and Killian. This is a good BDSM book and has some action, danger, intrigue and really steamy scenes. Liz and Killian are great characters and I enjoyed their journey to a happy ending. I can't wait to read more from this author. She's a new one for me.

I really wanted to love this book but some parts made it very hard. The way Killian and Lux’s relationship developed was kind of strange. I also didn’t really like Lux that much. Also, the end up this book was confusing for me and I genuinely did not understand a single thing that happened. I liked Killian more than Lux but I still wasn’t a huge fan. The plot wasn’t very good and I’m still confused at what the conflict even was and how it was resolved.

Poor Lux was a survivor of racism and physical abuse/torture. Killian was the man who loved her from the shadows. He knew nothing of her past until it returned with a vengeance. Through it all Lux showed so much strength. That's why I said she's a survivor and not a victim. Killian and Lux eventually found a safe loving place in each other's arms.

Book 3 takes you deeper into the BDSM and shifter world in Australia. Club Fray is a safe haven for all shifters. Killian is one of the managers of the club and always keeps a close eye on Lux the bartender. Secrets keep Lux from committing to any relationship and Killian is ready to break down the walls she’s erected. Great series n.

Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley and Evernight Publishing. This book is different than my usual reads. I stepped out of my comfort zone to review this shifter romance. The Australian setting seemed to fit perfectly with the book. Raven Hush created great character and scene build-up of the BDSM shifter experience.

Lux and Killian

Lux works at a shifter bar where she tries to avoid people by wearing her own collar. She's not looking to be in a relationship. However, Killian offers to be her Dom and give her a collar. She has some issues from her past that she needs to work through in order for her to accept what he's offering.

Killian and Lux feature in this steamy and sexy shifter romance. A darker read with BSDM themes, the kangaroo and emu shifters find a way to smooth each others edges without ruffling too many feathers. A great read.

Personally, I thought this book was ok. It was a little too fast paced for me. The plot seemed to jump and some of the descriptions confused me. The spice was decent. Killian and Lux are an interesting couple. it was a quick read and finished it in a couple hours. It seems like an interesting series.

The shifters all being Australian animals was something new for me. Living in a different country my previous shifter experiences were with shifters from my area. The MMC and FMC developing their relationship was well written and showed the respect they had for eachother in their roles.

This book was tough to get through to be honest. I found myself almost DNFing it. The story was painfully slow. It had so much filler in it. The spice level was a 1 out of 5 . The plot was 3 out of 5.
