While I shelved this volume as contemporary, it took a rather supernatural bend with ghosts and curses as facts. According to the author as a cross over with another series of her that ended recently (at least recently when the Japanese version was published). Personally I enjoyed the stories, a nice difference with earlier volumes while not going into horror and I tend to like the occasional ghost story. I do hope it is more or less a one off though. It did came with some interesting art history and Kyoto facts though that primarily makes the series for me. So, all in all, a good read and addition to the series.
