Gemma's a successful architect in London, but her personal life has been a mess since her engagement ended in a very public disaster. She throws herself into work until a chance meeting with an aloof and dominating billionaire at a Christmas party awakens a side of her she never knew she had, a side that wants to let someone else take control for a while.
Cole's got his own painful past relationship which is the reason all his bedroom encounters come with strictly defined terms, not to mention the reason that he hates Christmas. He's not looking for a change, but Gemma's unusual mix of confidence and submission leaves him wanting more.
The two strike a deal to satisfy their mutual attraction, but will their sparks in the bedroom give new warmth to the rest of their lives as well, or is their relationship destined to bloom only for the holidays, just like the mistletoe?
This book contains explicit sexual scenes with mild BDSM elements, including bondage, impact, roleplay, sensation play and breath play.
If you're looking for sweet and steamy romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily, those early stories have never seen the light of day.
Now, I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins.
Such a cute sweet and spicy Christmas time love story!! Gemma and Cole’s “meet cute” is amazing and their chemistry is undeniable. I loved having both POVs throughout the book. The steamy scenes were H-O-T hot! Light BDSM, role play, light dom/sub all amazing but the aftercare moments just melted my heart. This was a great, light but steamy Christmas read and I can’t wait to jump into Holly and Jackson’s story next!!
This read hit the spot. I love holiday romance books and this one did such a great job incorporating aspects of Christmas into the romance. This was steamy and full of emotions and romance at the same time. Both main characters had been burned by exes in the past, one publicly and one in private. Best of all, these characters communicated with each other so freaking well. Minus their initial misunderstanding when they met, which was both awkward and funny. Both characters also have amazing best friends who you'll love.
There was slight ow drama but from someone trying to make things difficult for the hero, not because he wants someone else. He does also have an escort for an event early in the book, but does not bring her back to his hotel or do anything sexual with her. The FMC has residual drama from what happened with her ex, but again, not because of any desire to still be with him.
Mistletoe Mistake was focused on the characters, building their relationship, which starts out purely physical, into something truly romantic. I haven't read the second book in the series, which follows two side characters from this one yet.
Absolutely loved this story! Lets start out by saying that this book is definitely spicy! I thought the scenes were top notch. While some of the things they explored were not my particular thing, I still thought it was really good. I thought the characters of the story were well written. Let's be honest though I am a sucker for our characters doing anything Christmas activity together. It is a sure fire way to get me to love the book. I also thought the book was extremely funny. I loved the awkward situations the characters sometimes found themselves in were great. Overall really thought this one was a winner. If you are looking for a spicy romance, with a little bit of Christmas cheer thrown in. This is the book for you. I would highly recommend.
Wow! This book is freaking fantastic!! I was just expecting another smutty Christmas book with no real plot but boy was I wrong! The plot is just as good as the smut and the smut is amazing!!! Gemma and Cole are perfect! The chemistry! The romance! The character growth and development! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Perfect balance of sweet and spicy, plot and smut. I love how confident Gemma was, she took control of her life! Cole was dominating and intense but feel so hard for Gemma. He was smitten from the start. I love this book. One of the role playing scenes wasn’t for me but everything else was great!
A wonderfully written book with captivating characters that had me emotionally invested in them almost instantly. I'm not a big fan of name each chapter of a book, but with Mistletoe Mistake I loved it. Great read, highly recommend
Okay, where to start? This is absolutely a 5 star read for me! These 2 had me swooning the whole book! The mistake was handled so maturely and their relationship grew so naturally. I’m just in awe by the writing style and the emotions the author was able to make me feel through words. The 2 mc’s handled everything that was thrown at them like adults and I loved every second. 10/10 recommend ❤️
Gemma was supposed to be married this Christmas but her ex-fiancé cheated on her and it came out six months ago. Now her best friend is trying to get her to have fun again. Which includes Santa dresses for their company’s holiday party. Where she meets Cole outside the ballroom and a simple kiss under the mistletoe leads to them both wanting more. Only, Cole thinks she’s an escort and tries to pay her.
Only to learn the next night Gemma’s the head architect for a company he really wants to work with. And he still wants to sleep with her. So a deal is struck - he’ll do the Christmas stuff she wants to do in exchange for nights together. But as their time starts to come to a close, it’s obvious they both care for each other. But he lives in New York and she lives in London. And a pesky ex or two show up as well.
Cole and Gemma get their happy ending in this stand-alone book.
I loved the contrast here is how each of the main characters handled their rejection and cheating exes. Gemma seemed to be more willing to move on while Cole was holding that pain for years. But it seemed like they both had best friends that were awesome support, even if they didn’t hook up too.
I loved this read it hooked me in from the start, the characters are amazing and it’s not corny like some Christmas reads are it has a depth to it and emotions as well I am off to go read book two now
I absolutely loved Cole and Gemma’s story. They were everything that one another needed. The Christmas atmosphere of London was captured perfectly, the ideal setting for Gemma to convert a Christmas hating Cole into loving the holidays and her!
This series might be my favorite holiday read. This specific story about Gemma + Cole started off hilarious with the mixup of professions and just grew from there.
I loved this book! Cole starts out as a bit of a jerk and Gemma's got some confidence issues but as the story progresses, you find out exactly why they both act the way they do and how the dom/sub relationship that develops between them gives them both what they need. I love how they talk to each other and don't overreact when things get tricky.
Loved reading this book...great story and very steamy. Kept me intrigued to keep reading till the very end. Looking forward to Holly and Jackson's story.
Okay so I read this in the middle of spring and it made me want to go buy a Christmas tree and mistletoe and have Christmas year round!! First this book is HOT. All kinds of kinks that were so good I was drooling. It was a cute read that was lighthearted and fun to read and I loved that the angst wasn’t so drawn out and downing. It was the perfect mix of hot while keeping the plot somewhat interesting. Going to be reading this author again for sure.
last few paragraphs contain spoilers fyi — read at your own risk
(no rating bc honestly idk what I just read)
I’m sorry this was not it
Anyway this book features are fmc, Gemma, who owns an architecture company, and our mmc, cole, who owns hotel chains. They meet by accident and are about to hookup, but Gemma realizes that cole thinks she’s a prostitute and is like “nah I’m not like that” and dips (for context she is dressed in a slutty Santa costume wandering around in a hotel lobby)
anyway a few days later, he realizes “oh shit she’s the owner of the architect coming I want to hire to design some of my hotels” and the story begins
looking back I’m realizing there’s a LOT of stuff going on so let’s see if I can remember everything that happens
anyway, cole wants to hire her company but there’s just soooo much sexual tension between the two, so they decide to have one night of sex before they can sign the papers. but cole can’t have non-transactional sex, he can only have sex with prostitutes or as part of a business arrangement. so what’s their arrangement? she’ll force him to go to Christmas related events and then they’ll have sex afterwards (which just sounds like a date but what do I know?)
Why is this the arrangement you may ask? Well Cole is a Christmas hater with a dark past that makes him grumpy, and Gemma is a Christmas lover with a dark past that makes her happy. Typical. They each have ex-fiancé(e)s with ties to the holiday season. sure.
after their one night, they keep going, naturally, having their “transactional” sex of Christmas themed events followed by the ickiest smut scenes I’ve ever read. like idk, one they started having sex, there was a scene every chapter, and they were kinky (nothing wrong with that it just wasn’t fun kink HAHA) and they role play so much I was floored, and their role play scenarios were not it either. idk once they started having sex, we lost the plot of the book.
I was begging for a ftb scene and I LOVE smut but he was clapping cheeks every other sentence he had to be stopped 😭 like I know she’s sore can we NOT
and no author, I don’t forgive you for that one fantasy/roleplay scenario where Gemma dressed up as a slutty misbehaving schoolgirl and cole played her punishing stepfather. yes author, that was weird and made us all uncomfortable.
until the end(ish)
anyway Gemma is the daughter of an earl (did I forget to mention that) and her ex fiancé cheated on her live on British national television with this blondie named Anabel, and at the end of the novel, we’re at this party for earls and nobility(?) and Anabel brings out cole’s ex fiancée to gain fame? why? idk. it doesn’t really lead to drama because they just talk it out like adults (so plus points for no miscommunication)
anyway they decide to be together because their faux transactional sex was just not doing it for them. the book ends with them getting engaged after knowing each other for two weeks so that’s FUN
also Gemma gets pregnant.
yes they did use condoms (except once when they forgot) and she is in birth control (though she missed like 2 days) and yes she did take Plan B. but somehow his sperm is SO POWERFUL that one creampie knocked her up, even after Plan B. sure.
idk why I’m being such a hater, they just gave me the ick.
I loved how open the characters were about exploring their kink together. Not everything they tried was my thing, but I liked the experimentation to learn what worked for them.
I also loved how, for the most part, when something upset one of them, they talked it out. There was no unnecessary drama that could have been resolved if they just talked to each other. Even the 'mistake' that set off the action at the beginning of the book wasn't milked out - Gemma never really took offense to it because she understood that Cole didn't mean it to be offensive.
The ending was very sweet, and while it might not have all been totally realistic, it was a fun escape. I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.
Gemma and Cole`s love story is so sweet. They both had horrible past relationships and break up, but they were both able to find their happiness in each other. Great read with some spice to it all.
I love Christmas books, and I honestly didn’t know much about this book going in other than the hero in the book mistakes the heroine for a lady of the night and then they end up having some sort of professional relationship. Seems like a fun set up for me. Gemma and Cole are both coming off of pretty crappy relationships. Gemma’s is much more fresh and is still taking place in her social circle as well as a pretty healthy dose of public humiliation, which just sucks. Even with that though she is determined too enjoy her first Christmas season alone. Cole on the other hand had a bad relationship and instead of allowing himself to be ever be vulnerable to another woman the only relationships he has are the ones that are “business arrangements”, enter in their meet cute. This book is a lot more spicy than I thought it was going to be. But not in a bad way. I like how the author kind of takes you on a little tour of London at Christmas. I like the relationship dynamics between Gemma and Cole once they decide to have a friends with benefit arrangement. They have fantastic chemistry, but they also just really compliment each other in a way I don’t think either one of them was expecting. Because each one of their dates includes a night out or Christmas activity it keeps the book from being just spice all the time. There isn’t much of an underlying plot point (so don’t look for a mystery or something here), but there are a few minor moments of ex drama, but mostly it’s just a really enjoyable story of how two people came together at Christmas. It was just an enjoyable read. Would read more by the author in the future.
I'm so excited this Christmas series is available on Amazon now! I originally read them on Dreame and absolutely loved them.
This is the first book, Gemma and Cole's story, and I was drawn in right away. Gemma is a hard-working and well-respected professional woman, so when she decides to let her hair down and go for a one-night tryst with the hot guy she's just met under the mistletoe, it's a big deal for her - and then he mistakes her for a hooker! She thinks that's the end of it until they run into each other again and find that both their professional pursuits and private interests line up a lot better than they could have imagined.
The sex scenes (mild BDSM) are HOT and varied and the connection that grows between the two characters feels natural and organic. They complement each other so well, in and out of the bedroom. It's rare that a book this steamy also really makes me fall for the characters, but I was so invested in them by the end that I cried happy tears. Great read.
I loved the characters, I loved the plot, and I love this authors writing. It was extremely mature. At moments when I feared the miscommunication troupe, I was pleasantly surprised to see they figured it out as adults. It was a breath of fresh air.
I’m giving it 4.5 out of 5, only because towards the end it was almost too much sexy time, and I wished for more character development. It lacked in getting to know each character deeply.
But overall I’m not disappointed!! Definitely recommend:)
ABSOLUTELY LOVEDD THIS BOOK SOOO MUCHH!!! I usually don’t write reviews unless I either really enjoyed a book or couldn’t get through it that I had to rant. I really wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did since I came across it on booktok. And the last several recommendations I was interested in were disappointing. This is the first book I’ve read from the author and I will definitely continue with this series as well as any other book she has hopefully they’re just as amazing as this one.
First of all I absolutely loved the main characters! Gemma was wonderful, knowing exactly what she did and didn’t want. And I was immensely delighted with the banter she and Cole had through out the whole book. And Cole was such a sweetheart. I usually don’t take to the hero as immediately as I did with Cole. They had amazing communication and happy to say he didn’t run away or act like a jerk when he started realizing that he might like Gemma more than he thought as any other might have. I kept looking at much I had left to read since there’s always something that makes the main characters separate or have a huge fight towards the end. And surprisingly this story did not have which was great for me if i’m being honest. It was a nice change in what I have been reading lately.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a nice holiday read. I’ll definitely (probably) read this again once the Holidays are here this year.

Thank you melody. It was amazing book, I smiled so much through Gemma and cole story. It was the best mistake for them. Can’t wait to read more books about them both. I still had so many questions What did Gemma think of his apartment, What did everyone think of the baby news and the wedding bells coming up.
Totally worth failing to do anything constructive while I immersed myself in another of this authors brilliant books. Can’t wait to read Holly’s story.
Absolutely loved this story, watching Cole and Gamma go from making a mistake to becoming friends, to lovers, the head all in the span of 2 weeks was so really amazing and well written, I have never read anything by this author before but I think I found someone new to explore her work..
Really loved this quote at the end to: It might have been a mistake that brought us together that night under the mistletoe, but I knew in my heart it was the best mistake we could have ever made.
Even in RL I love when stuff like this plays out!
