Abbs Valley #2

Riches to Riches: Part Two

Rate this book
**This book has been professionally edited since its first release**

When I was born, my life was set on a path of destruction, greed, enemies, and certain death. But none of that mattered until them.

Ryder, Gage, Dex, Holden, and Leo are my life, my loves, and in the blink of an eye, it was ripped away from me.

At twenty-two, I rose to power as the first female Boss of the Italian Mafia, and at twenty-five, I almost died because of it. I didn't take the threat of a deranged stalker seriously, and it could cost me and Zane, a former love, our lives and sanity.

With one of my guys’ lives hanging in the balance, my other guys must fight to save him while trying to save me. Will they succeed, or would someone meet their certain death before it’s their time?

Nothing in this life is certain. You don't always get what you want, and you could lose everything you just realized you needed. One thing I was sure of? I knew what I would get after we got out of this hell alive.

Revenge.

**Riches To Riches is Part Two of a duet. It's a reverse harem/polyamorous romance intended for mature readers only. The FMC doesn't choose between love interests and the book contains male/male relationships/content. It's set in a fictional city in California called Abbs Valley and will be the first of this world with more to come. Be sure to check the content/trigger warnings in the front of the book before proceeding.

“Don’t you know by now, Pretty girl? I want everything with you. All of us do.”

i’m such a sucker for this author’s why choose books, so of course i enjoyed this one. i think seeing Alessa having so much support from her men after the trauma her and Zane went through solidified their bonds. i loved Zane’s character development here and they way they all chose to integrate him back into Alessa’s life because they knew he was also what she needed. Gage, Leo and Holden are still my favorites but i really do love everyone and the side characters too though.

“The first time I saw you, I fell in love. I didn’t think I ever had a chance with someone like you, and you proved me wrong. You gave me everything I could have ever wanted and then gave it again. I love you.”

the way i was NOT expecting that whole enemies to lovers arc between Ryder and Zane.. i was truly on the floor and was living for every moment they had. i actually felt proud of Ryder for realizing that he doesn’t always have to be so strong and take everything on himself, he needed that outlet to be softer. Dex calling Alessa on her bullshit was also very needed and i love all the side m/m romances just as much as the main one they all have with Alessa. Jay was such a prick, i was waiting to see him get what he deserved but i do think that part of things wrapped up a little too fast at the end. this also kinda fell off in the last section a bit but i’m just happy to see them happy and together thriving.

Hear me out...the first one was good, long but good. But this one...just felt unnecessary.

The thing about this duet is that the main plot line stays the same throughout both books and it's just not 1100 pages strong. This one we have A LOT more sword crossing, more grammatical errors than the first, and a few plot holes that just made me a little bored throughout it. I don't want to hate on it too much since I did really enjoy the first one, but I think this duet could've easily been one book and better written.

The ‘glue’ that came unstuck

While I liked it, I didn’t love it.

Alessa WAS the glue in the first book, but in this story she just felt like a side character.

I knew this story was going to be poly, and I loved the little side relationships that began in book 1… but this book turned into a sausage fest (apologies for the euphemism) and it felt like any hole would do.

These guys had waited years for Alessa, but within days (for some) were also in love with another… AND then ANOTHER. What happened to you Zane??? We’re you not obsessed with Alessa for 7 years??

Two of the characters really shouldn’t have been in a relationship with Alessa at all, there really wasn’t a believable spark between them and they were really only in the storyline because of the chemistry they shared with the other males (I’m looking at you Leo and Holden).

I wanted more from Dex… I felt he and Alessa shared something special… but then he joined the ‘hot dog parade’ as well even though he was a SA survivor and Alessa had to fight through his mental walls to be able to physically touch him in Book 1. (Any hole will do remember) So his storyline just confused me.

Gage was a shining light just as he was in Book 1 and Ryder definitely had an interesting journey.

I just feel like my girl Alessa got shafted and perhaps some dead weight within the storyline could have been killed off.

please edit

Good storyline, love the characters, amazing 🌶 scenes (my favorite in a long time)
HOWEVER this whole set needs some editing. There’s spelling issues galore, some grammar (wrong words) that would put some people off from finishing the story. The second part has more issues than the first.

Blah .... It was boring.

First one was way better than this. Should have been a standalone instead of duet. There was not enough plot for 2 books.

A lot of it was dramatic and cringy af, especially the nicknames..... like, "bright eyes" who calls that during sex? "Sweet boy"? The man was way too older the other guy so this name creepy for them.

Alessa was the center of attention at first, in this one she got sidelined. Also, this was not reverse harem with mm scenes sometimes, no this was poly. I understand Gage and Leo's relationship and same with Ryder and Holden. ..... But, Zane? He made no sense. He unnecessary occupied too much space in this. All of which should have been given to Dex and Leo who was almost forgotten in this. I didn't like that Zane (who hated criminals) got along that easily with the guys without any issues with what they do and ended up in relationship with two of them, when in the first book Leo spent so much time actually bonding with the guys before he became a part of the family.

As much as the sex scenes with mm were hot, with 6 guys who were bi and also interested in each other. What's the coincidence? It didn't seem realistic at all. It was like some erotic fantasy or something. Anyways, I think book got spoilt with Zane there. I wish it was 5 of them with Dex getting more time.

Alessa didn't at all sound like Mafia Queen other than at the beginning of the series.

Overall, it was one time read.

This book was ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTING. I think it legit took me months to get through it. Started it back in September and wanted to have it removed from my KU books.

Waay too long, plot was stretched out for what it was. There was no reason for this to be 400+ pages long, cmon dude! and of course....once again so many spelling mistakes and typos, whose the editor?? The author needs one STAT.

However the smut is incredible and theres LOTS of it, which i appreciate. ALWAYS, Im a fast burn kinda gal who enjoys RH with lots of erotica/smut in it.

Now while I love mm....i have to admit that theres TOOOO MUCH of it, not too much sex... but TOO MANY relationships within the relationship, as much as i like mm in a group I always want it to be about the FMC and want it to happen while the FMC is present. Although i understand that Alessa's character is about letting the guys be free to do anything and wtvr they want sexually within the group, but by doing that, it becomes a free for all!

And all of the mm relationships just dont happen organically..?? They feel forced, i dont see Zane and Dex being bisexual and suddenly they were ALLL bisexual, like obviously every single character in her next books are clearly about to suddenly be bisexual, realistically there arent this many bisexual in mafias....JUSSS SAYIN.... *EYEROLL*

But i get it, this was a plot device for them to be having orgies and to make sure everyone was fucking eachother, i wish the author kept it to just gage x leo and ryder x holden, without any other sword crossing, it would have been more believable. Altho even ryder x holden felt *completely* outta the blue, the book started explaining that Ryder had always looked out for Holden...ummmm when??? Howw?? Atleast with Gage x Leo, Gage was very openly flirting with him which blossomed into more, but i also didnt feel like their chemistry was explosive, Ryder and Zane had better chemistry. Once again not very shelled out properly, and dont get me started on the cutesie nicknames....*barf* im just over it, there needs to be some kind of justice done to ban cutesie nicknames that each character gives other character.

Would like to circle back to our FMC, Alessa, this book LOVES telling me how badass our FMC is, but all she does is weep like a little bitch and my god theres a lot of giggling and preciousness, your the badass leader of the italian mob, and giggling and weeping is how you assert your dominance? Yeah just didnt believe it...

Dont know if ill be reading more in the series, but the smut that is to be expected makes it tempting.

We shall see...

Full disclosure, reverse harem is not one of my favorite genres. They can be hit or miss for me. But “Riches to Riches” was EVERYTHING I want in a RH. Not only was it a reverse harem but it was a RH with MM relationships!! 🥵Alessa and her men were off the charts! 🔥🔥🔥 This is for sure one of my fave RH stories ever! It was one huge sexy, steamy, crazy, wild, unpredictable, and emotional ride! I can’t rave about this book enough! I’m obsessed with all of the characters! Alessa was an amazing female lead. She was a total bad ass. She was the perfect balance of strong and confident but also soft. I loved seeing her embrace her role as head of the mafia and also finding her vulnerable side and allowing love into her heart. The guys were all amazing! Holden, Ryder, Dex, Zane, Gage, and Leo stole my heart. I loved how they loved on Alessa and also found love and camaraderie amongst eachother. Ames Mills did an amazing job developing these very complex characters and their unconventional relationships.

I highly highly recommend you read this duet. I will definitely be checking out more from this author!

I can’t express how much I enjoy reading these books. This book was the perfect mix of story, spice and character development so that you feel like you are moving forward with the story.

Hot and steamy doesn’t cover some of the scenes in this book. Heart wrenching doesn’t cover it either. I loved every page and Alessa and the guys truly deserve a happy ever after.

I can’t think the author enough for bringing these books into my life. Did I mention there’s a lot of spice? If there isn’t something in this book that turns you on, you might check for a pulse. 😉

Only thing with the second book - Alessa was the center of attention in the first book but I feel like in this one she got sidelined. Also, this was not reverse harem with mm scenes sometimes, no this was poly. I understand Gage and Leo's relationship and same with Ryder and Holden. ..... But, Zane? He made no sense. That’s why I don’t rate it as high as the first book!

Great 2nd book,,,
This one read much faster and the relationship building between everyone was just perfect.

What I loved about the s book is that everything in this story came to an ending with no questions hanging in the air,,,, except for one couple that will get their own story.

DNF 50% I tried to finish this duet at least, but I finally gave up halfway through the second. See my review for Part One:

I really wished I could’ve liked this more because it has some of my favorite tropes like female mafia bosses and RH with MM… but this writing rubbed me the wrong way.

I was a huge fan of Hades series by Tate James, which is a similar RH female mafia boss book, and I think there’s things this book does better than Hades, and there’s things Hades did better.

I liked that this book embraced MM and bisexuality wholeheartedly. I loved the bi awakenings, the journey, the polyamory… all awesome. That was my biggest complaint about Hades. We always need more bi boys in life, including in RH.

But as for the book’s weaknesses…

-I think Les could have been a little more ice queen as a mafia boss. She’s supposed to be the most powerful gang member in the country/world(?) but she mainly acts like a regular young gal in converse and shorts.

-When Les does don her badass boss uniform and go to work she acts like Gage, the unhinged talkative psycho. She’s supposed to be a stoic boss, but she acts like more loose-cannon renegade that everyone just obeys.

-She giggles SO. MUCH. Can you let her chuckle now and then instead? Again, this is supposed to be the most powerful in-control mafia boss. But she kinda has a childish Harley Quinn vibe about her.

-This is supposed to be an erotic romance rather than just erotica I think, meaning there’s a substantial plot moving along at the same time. But this plot takes FOREVER to move. 250 pages in, no big mafia problem has happened. The charity gala could’ve happened 200 pages earlier than it did.

-And I didn’t know I could say this, but I think there’s too many sex scenes. It’s feels like there’s 30! You have this powerful mafia boss lady, but so little is happening for so long. It would still be a very spicy book even if you took out half of the sex scenes. That’s still like 15 sex scenes in one book! You can make your readers earn those scenes a little!

-Also I might need a diagram for how some of those scenes worked with that many people involved, especially for Book 2.

-The characters snapping at each other feels… off. Like they never argue, they just say one thing mean, shout “fuck!” then run off and punch a wall or something. The fighting doesn’t feel organic, it feels forced to be too short or too superfluous.

-This takes place next to LA in Southern California, a famously diverse place in every way. How is EVERYONE white? Even the Perez family members have light eyes. I get that Les is Italian, but even the non-Italian team members are white. I think it would’ve been really neat to feature more of SoCal diversity in her gang.

-I love long books. But this book was too long for that little amount of plot to happen. (600+ pages!) Either more plot or less pages please.

Anyways, I still really like this writer’s ideas for stories, so I wish her luck in future writing. The potential is there.

Spice: 6/5 (this book taught me that’s possible.)

Damn... Book #1 was spicy but this some how topped that. And Jesus, Chapter 20… 🔥🤤 I hope that’s what heaven is like. Not only did I love seeing Les' relationship grow with her guys but also the development of some of the guys within the group. Which was hot AF. And like Les, I refuse to choose a favorite. They all brought something different to the table, and when any one of them showed vulnerability I just swooned. And outside of their relationship, I enjoyed the storyline and how things played out as well. Even though this is the end of Les & her guys being the focus, I can’t wait to see what comes next for the other characters we’ve met along the way.

P.S I love their pet names for one another. and based on their pet names, the Playlist at the end is perfect!

▪️DEX Calls her Baby Girl.
▪️HOLDEN Calls her Bright Eyes.
▪️LEO Calls her Baby.
▪️GAGE Calls her Pretty Girl and Leo Pretty Boy.
▪️ZANE Calls her Beautiful. She calls him Tesoro (treasure.) He calls Ryder Love and Holden Sweet Boy.
▪️RYDER Calls her Il Mio Sole (my sun,) and Holden Bello (handsome.) plus Zane = Sir. 🥵

Holden, Zane and Ryder are also together as well as Gage and Leo. There's an agreement that they can all be with anyone within the group and its sooo hot when it all happens. 🔥 🤤

I don’t really think you can classify these duets are RH anymore. Don’t get me wrong, the heroine has numerous male love interests - but the relationships between all members of the harem get complex. So it’s definitely something different than traditional RH. The spice level is high for this book, and awesome. The reason this book isn’t rated five stars is because I frontline Les and her guys kept making boneheaded mistakes. For her being this great, and smart leader - she really took a long time to figure some things out. Secondly, one of the blossoming relationships between her guy kinda came out of left field and didn’t ring as true to me. Then there was the icky pet name of “pretty boy”. It just felt juvenile and a bit like grooming, not my thing. Overall, it’s a good book and there’s plenty to enjoy. I can’t wait to move into the next duet in this world. I’m hoping in the future we get some books with mostly characters in their 30s.

I am writing this review a month after I read it because I just needed more of the world and jumped right into the next book at 2am so mafia drama yes t’was there and fuck you Viktor but againnnnn I’m here for the relationships and these are just so well done. I was itching for more Van and Micha I couldn’t wait for even a nap.

Loved… BUT

I truly enjoyed this book for what it unapologetically is. lol

However, if you want to really enjoy it, you’ll have to suspend all your belief for this ESPECIALLY the dynamics after Zane joined this crazy cast of people. Was it hot? A 10000% but was it believable? Eehhhh… but that’s not we are here for right? So I rolled right on with it and I must say I had a great time! 🤸🏾‍♀️

This time I want to start with the bad cause holy fuck... The editing was even worse this time around. There were commas where there shouldn't be and none where there should've been. Some sentences at times didn't make any sense but didn't take away much from me enjoying the book.

Again, this is a MAFIA book and Les being the boss but acting like that didn't sit right with me. She literally broke down every 5 seconds, acted like a brat a lot and I didn't see any of badass shit that I was expecting from this book. The argument of "I can take care of myself" "no you cant you, have us for a reason" happened so many times it got old very quick. Jay's and Viktor's deaths were almost laughable and not at all torturous after all the shit they did.

Um, for being "one of the most powerful families in the world" it sure as shit didn't seem like cause they weren't scary at all other than shooting up shit then getting mad when every single time one of them got hurt. They made it seem like they barely had 100 people on their side and barely any resources.

Now to the good shit, I cannot express enough how much I loved big daddy Zane and his dominant ass self. The way he integrated so good to the family was hot as fuck. I loved how easy he fit in. I loved his relationship with Holden and Ryder but seriously everytime he dominated and calmed Ryder was sooooo hot. He made him feel so protected and it was cute as shit. Him never giving up on Les while he was literally being tortured gained my respect from the very beginning.

Evander and Micah have me curious asf for the next book and I can't wait to read about them.

Rocco not accepting of their relationship was honestly one of the few realisic things about this book and I'm glad that was included because at the end of the day, not everyone is gonna be accepting. I loved how they all came together to support Ryder throughout all that.

As for Dex, I wish Zane would've had the relationship he had with Ryder with him instead. Cause even though he gave in, we still didn't see as much from Dex as I would've liked.

Overall great read. Wish it would've been one book though.

It wasn’t bad but with all the hype around those books, I was expecting much better. I

It’s very rare for me to feel like this for a RH story but maybe she should have written a gay harem instead of adding the FMC in there. Her relationships with the guys and character development were far from being the focus or a priority in the story.

Also, this duet was a lot of telling you shit but not showing you anything, especially when it came to the FMC. She’s supposed to be a badass ice queen, mafia leader, yet she cries and whines about everything and she needs the MMCs to push her to do things (like starting this whole poly relationship). She’s too insecure to be described as she was, and the author kept telling us how strong she was but not showing us. The writing was a bit… meh. Book one was def 200 pages too long and I got bored a few times during book two too.

With all of that said, I’m excited to read her uncle’s and Leo’s brother book since the author seems better at writting MM (the spice, the feelings, the character development, the relationships and dynamic were all done better and with more care when it came to the main MMs couples.)

EDIT : never mind, I just re read the blurb for the next book and it’s also a RH with a FMC. Not sure I’m going to read it 🫠
