“So, have you moved on? Or do you still love her?” Did he? Absolutely. That Sophie shaped hole in his heart that was never filled. The question was, would she let him back in?
When Sophie’s Europe plans are cancelled, she pivots to a job as activity director at Christmas Tree Lodge.
The same lodge where she was proposed to three years earlier.
To a guy who dumped her in a text!
Enter Sam who is there with his four-year-old daughter.
I do love the second chance trope and this book is just that. Sophie and Sam never got over each other so it wasn't too hard for them to fall in love again, once thrown together. Darby was pretty adorable and played the role of matchmaker well.
I was slightly dubious that a secular lodge would put on the nativity for fear of offending non-Christians at the lodge but since this is a Christian lit book, it worked.
Both main characters had moments where they seemed immature but I suppose that was part awkwardness in maneuvering through seeing each other again and part dealing with lingering anger.
Christian themes throughout book No sex, language or violence *I received an ARC of this book through StoryOrigin and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a cute second chance romance. It is a sweet, quick read.
After a trip to Europe for the holidays is cancelled, Sophie takes o a trempoary job as a children's art director at a lodge - the same one where she had received a proposal years earlier.
She is surprised to find her former fiance - and his daughter - as guests at the lodge. Sam is raising his niece and is dedicated to her upbringing.
As Sam and Sophie spend time together, will their feelings for each other resurface?
I really wanted to fall in love with this book, as it had the makings of a great holiday read: a beautiful heroine with a broken heart, a charming protagonist with a daughter and some bad choices in his life, a beautiful setting. Somehow this book just didn’t deliver for me, though. I would’ve needed a bit more less around the bones, I guess. This story had its strong points, too, and Darby was definitely charming. I’m sure many people will find this book a lovely holiday read.
Sophie and Sam fell in love, got engaged, and then... He dumped her via text. Three years later Sophie is working at Lodge, where Sam proposed, as the Children's Activity Coordinator. Sam and his 4 year old daughter are guests. Hurt feelings, learning truths, and trusting God are all a part of this cute sweet novella. I received an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
