Fast ein Jahr ist seit dem Tod von Marcos Vater vergangen. Doch die Brutalität seines Selbstmordes ist noch immer allgegenwärtig und stellt Marco vor unzählige schmerzhafte Fragen. Ein Tagebuch seines Vaters, das er beim Aufräumen findet, führt ihm nur noch mehr vor Augen, wie wenig die beiden sich gekannt haben. In dieser Situation, auf der Suche nach sich selbst und seinen Wurzeln, scheint seine Freundin Emilie sein einziger Halt zu sein. Doch gerade jetzt verlangt Emilie eine Entscheidung: Sie will ein Kind.

Manu Larcenet beweist auch im dritten Band von "Der alltägliche Kampf" sein feines Gespür für die Einzigartigkeit des Augenblicks. Seine Zeichnungen fördern eine Menschlichkeit zu Tage, die man in Comics nur selten findet, sein Strich scheint noch bedachter, noch reifer geworden zu sein. Und seine lebendig porträtierten Figuren sind einem ohnehin schon ans Herz gewachsen.

Emmanuel "Manu" Larcenet wurde 1969 in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Frankreich, geboren. Nach einem Studium der Grafik und Angewandten Kunst begann er 1994 seine professionelle Comic-Karriere mit Kurzgeschichten für das Magazin "Fluide Glacial". Larcenets enorme Produktivität schlägt sich in mehr als 30 Comic-Alben nieder, die er seither – sowohl allein als auch in Zusammenarbeit mit diversen Autoren und Zeichnern – vorgelegt hat. In Deutschland sind bislang mehrere von Manu Larcenet gezeichnete Alben in den Serien "Die Kosmonauten der Zukunft" und "Donjon Parade" erschienen.

Manu Larcenet (full name: Emmanuel Larcenet) is a French comics writer and artist. He has been working with Fluide Glacial magazine since 1994 and with Spirou magazine since 1997.

This, the third volume of the story of photographer Marco, is an emotional rollercoaster. His girlfriend Emilee, a vet, wants a baby, and he is not convinced, but she wants a decision from him, finally. Then we learn Marco's father is dead, and that, facind dementia, he's killed himself, even as a publisher wants to publish Marco's book of photographs of the factory workers where Marco's father once worked. Marco takes pictures of artifacts from his father after the funeral, his mother gives him a box of memorabilia of his father. And he demands that his shrink maintains his medication for anxiety and depression. So what will happen to Marco, and Emilee, and Marco's mother? What connections might there be between his father and Emilee's urgent wish? Very compelling story of a complicated, angry, anguished, goofy guy. Great comics.

Sarjan kolmannessa(kin) osassa ollaan isojen asioiden äärellä. Marcon isä on tehnyt itsemurhan, ja jäämistöstä löytyneet valokuvat ja päiväkirja saavat miehen pohtimaan: "Kuka oli isäni nahkoihin vangittu ihminen?" Samaan aikaan tyttöystävä riutuu vauvakuumeen kourissa ja vaatii Marcoa tekemään päätöksen...

Sen verran kutkuttavaan kohtaan päättyi tämä albumi, että pakko varata seuraava osa kirjastosta saman tien.

Sarjan kolmas albumi kolahti minuun täysillä. Ehkä pystyin samastumaan niin täysin päähenkilöön, joka sukupolvien puristuksissa joutuu työstämään isänsä dramaattista kuolemaa ja tyttöystävän halua saada lapsi, että tarina todella imaisi mukaansa. Isän mitättömät päiväkirjakirjaukset sekä päähenkilö Marcon paniikkikohtaukset ja sisäiset pohdinnat visualisoidaan hienosti erilaisilla värityksillä. Ainoa pieni miinus lapsentekoasian mielikuvituksettomasta ratkaisusta.

Jusqu'ici, c'est mon tome préfère de la série. J'aime l'évolution de Marco et j'ai trouvé les passages avec le journal de son père plein de poésie. Je lis les tomes petits à petits, car ça reste tout de même une lecture assez "dure", car elle résonne en nous, lecteur, d'une force inattendue.

4.5* This series has gotten better, more tender. It's a deep exploration of masculinity and the human condition, what it means to be an adult, how to deal with the death of parent.
Really makes you think about the conditions and evolution of employment prospects for working class people over the last 30-40 years - especially white people/les "français de souche"

Plus on avance dans la série, et plus les personnages s'étoffent, les relations se complexifient, et plus on s'attache à Marco et à ses faiblesses.
Larcenet a vraiment du talent pour donner de l'authenticité à ses personnages et au monde dans lequel ils habitent. Des petits détails qui donnent l'impression d'être en terrain connu.

Tome le plus compliqué et le plus intéressant à lire.
Il fait vibrer des cordes très précises de ma sensibilité. Ici, le personnage de Marco s'efface au profit de la découverte de son propre père. L'enrichissant par la même occasion

Toujours aussi bon, toujours aussi authentique et réaliste, avec des personnages plus vrais que nature, des sujets plus ou moins importants qu'on aborde tous dans nos vies un jour ou l'autre (ici la mort, le deuil, l'héritage qu'on laisse et les enfants, et encore et toujours la santé mentale).

I got hooked on this books/ this author, I think everything this guy does is really personal and I really like that.

I'll have to write the same review for the 3 volumes I already read because I cannot differentiate anymore what belongs to where.

So this is the story of a guy that is a photographer completely overwhelmed in the city, taking anti depressants and going to therapy that decides that is more to life than living in constant fear of his own mind/ emotions so he decides to move to the country side, a very small village in the middle of nowhere.

The character I enjoy the most (apart from the main one actually) is the neighbor, this old man with a lot of mysticism surrounding him. They build a very nice relationship but at the end it takes a turn that I am still waiting to see fixed.

I loved that he photographed this workers that worked at his father's last job and the meaningful conversations he had with one of them.

His dad discovers he suffers from Alzheimer and this whole interaction with his dad until the end is very emotional and beautiful.

He met a very nice girl and their relationship develops to high levels.

I cannot wait to put my hands on volume 4!!

Manu Larcenetin "Pieniä voittoja 3 : Millä on väliä" (WSOY, 2008) on likipitäen hienointa käännettyä ranskalaista nykysarjakuvaa. Kolmikymppinen valokuvaaja Marco jatkaa ponnisteluaan läpi elämän, välillä terapiaan ja paniikkihäiriötä torjuviin lääkkeisiin turvautuen.

Sarjan kolmannessa osassa Marcon alzheimeria sairastanut isä on tehnyt itsemurhan, ja poika joutuu käymään läpi suhdetaan menneisyyteen lukemalla vanhaa päiväkirjaa, joka tuntuu sisältävän vain merkityksettömiä huomioita arkipäivästä. Kuoleman lisäksi myös elämä ja potentiaalinen syntymä aiheuttavat paineita: eläinlääkärinä työskentelevä tyttöystävä kun tahtoisi saada lapsen, mikä kammoksuttaa Marcoa melkoisesti.

Sarjakuva on koskettavasti käsikirjoitettu tarina, joka kestää ja itse asiassa vaatiikin useampia lukukertoja auetakseen täydellisesti. Larcenetin piirrosjälki on myös totutun tasokasta: pottunokkaiset ihmishahmot sulautuvat vaivatta kauniisti piirrettyihin maalais- ja kaupunkilaismaisemiin.

¡Al fin! ¡Al fin un tomo que no termina con una muerte! Es más, para compensar los otros finales este termina con el anuncio de una futura vida. Y por lo que llevo leído del tomo 4, se ve que finalmente las cosas comienzan a cambiar para bien. No se arreglan, no es todo perfecto ni rosa, pero comienza a haber luz al final del túnel. Supongo que cuando me termine el 4 veré si hago una review del integral o si lo dejo para cuando haga una lectura íntegra de corrido, pero seguro que el promedio de la obra completa va a ser superior a la suma de sus partes.

Marco s'oppose à sa vétérinaire qui veut un enfant. Il photographie l'atelier de son père (thème des illustrations noir & blanc de l'album).
Un éditeur veut faire un livre de ses photos de l'Atelier 22.

Comme l'indique le titre, c'est le combat ordinaire d'un homme ordinaire, qui lutte pour donner un sens à son existence.
À noter l'ancrage des albums dans l'actualité de l'époque, l'élection présidentielle avec une femme candidate, etc.

Probably the best graphic novels I've ever read. Funny, touching, and beautifully illustrated. Nothing explicit or "inappropriate," but these are grown up books with adult themes.
