got on a whim recently and wanted to squeeze it in during the season of the namesake. kinda reminded me of norwegian wood, but with a more Romantic (era) tone. laid on the imagery/symbolism a bit thick especially with such minimalist style, but was pretty sweet. gonna have to go novel mode after this i think

J’ai lu la traduction en français de ce recueil de nouvelles qui m’a attiré simplement parce que c’était le printemps. C’était ma première incursion dans la littérature chinoise que je ne connaissait pas du tout jusque là et j’ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à sentir les écarts culturels avec l’occident tant au niveau de la culture chinoise mais aussi à cause de l’époque où ce fut écrit et représentées dans les histoires. J’ai bien aimé. Ce fut une découverte intéressante.

Set against the backdrop of the suicide of an elder brother for love, the protagonist seems to be in the autumn of his own love affair during the springtime of his life. He fears the loss. Enjoyable, if quick, read.
