I don't understand why writers in this genre just don't trust their readers. Again, way too much overexplanation and repetition. It makes for mostly annoying reading. However, Brenda Jackson is a lot better than most other "ghetto drama" writers. I'll at least give her that.
One word to describe this book:TYPICAL. I received this book from my significant other's family because they knew I like to read. However, I did not enjoy reading this book. Call it judging a book by it's cover but I COULD tell by just looking at the title and the cover, featuring what appears to be an attractive man in the buff, what this book was going to be like. It went a little something like this (give or take some minor details): 1) Guy & Girl met once upon a time and had sex. 2) The sex was good and they had it on their minds to get some more of it the next time Guy & Girl came in contact. 3) Guy or Girl is somehow "not in the position/place" to fall in love so they avidly deny themselves while still indulging in good sex. 4) Guy or Girl caves. This good sex is like no one else's, so it's gotta be love, right? 5) Within a period of less than a year (sometimes as short as six weeks), this lust-at-first-fuck couple gets married and lives in married bliss. THE END. Maybe I expect too much from these authors but urban romance novels lack depth compared to other romance/erotic novels. They sacrifice character or sex, if not both. I tried to come in with an open mind but this was a rather painful read.

I still feel like I’ve read it before though and it carried the same heat. Thank you Brenda for capturing so many moments I felt like I was there sometimes and enjoying those moments as my own! I can’t wait for the next heated conversation 🌹
