Fountain of life

Rate this book
Eli had heard about Jesus' teachings and miracles, but had never seen Him. The more he heard, the more he was awed. Was Jesus the Messiah who would deliver the Jews from Rome? Could He heal Eli's crippled father? How Eli longed to meet Jesus! Eli never did see Jesus on earth. But long after the dark days of the cross and the tomb, Eli discovered something even more wonderful: that Jesus could be found anywhere, any time, by anyone open to receive Him.

It could've been better. In my opinion it is trying to educate the reader about the Jewish feasts, and months, and way of life so much, that it is sort of too factual, and not very story-like. Or rather not story-like enough to capture the readers attention. So, if you want to know about the Jewish calender etc, read it. But if you want an intriguing story, there is better.

Excellent book taking place during gospel times. We read out loud at bedtime with my 10.5, 8, and 5.5 year olds. Recommended book with one of our homeschool curriculums, Heart of Dakota. Second time I have read it to my kids!
Well developed main character and several minor characters, some were hard for the girls to keep track of. But they were always eager to find out what happened next.

This is an inspiring fictional account of blossoming faith, finding Truth and drinking deeply from the true Fountain of Life. Set in New Testament times. Includes a wealth of information concerning Jewish life and customs. Candace read 5/08....absolutely thorough and thrilling, tons of "connections" made.

Eli kept hearing about Jesus but never had an opportunity to meet Him. What he learned greatly appealed to him. Eli had many questions but deep down he longed to be a follower of the Messiah. This is an interesting story of the Jewish customs of the first century.
