Better than McDonald's Giants of Strategy, but not sufficiently better to earn a fourth star. Lots and lots of text, but very little actual chess content. Not really for anybody over 1600 rating. The books in this series by other authors (e.g., Crouch, Pritchett) aim at a somewhat higher rating level (perhaps 1800-2000).
