1. Book summary, in your own words (3 pts)
Reptiles is a true and false book on common ideas on snakes, dinosaurs, turtles, lizards, etc. It gives the common ideas on reptiles and then tells whether it is a true or false statement and why. It is a very interesting book and has some great pictures in it.
2. Grade level, interest level, lexile (1 pt)
This would be a good book for students in the 2nd to 5th grade. It is very interesting to read and moderately easy to read.
3. Appropriate classroom use (subject area) (1 pt)
I would use this book during the reading part of the class or when we would learn about reptiles.
4. Individual students who might benefit from reading (1 pt)
Students interested in reptiles would love this book.
5. Small group use (literature circles) (1 pt)
I do not think I would use this in small groups.
6. Whole class use (read aloud) (1 pt)
I think it would be fun to read this book aloud to the class. I could have the students guess whether each statement is true or false and then read and explain why.
7. Related books in genre/subject or content area (1 pt)
Scholastic True or False: Amphibians by Melvin Berger
Scholastic True or False: Pets by Melvin Berger
8. Multimedia connections (audio books, movie) available (1 pt)
There are no multimedia connections to this book.

This book approaches the information in the form of true and false questions. The reason I love this idea is because it allows students to dig into their minds for past experiences, learned behaviors and prior information they have on reptiles and amphibians. It could be read either at the beginning of the unit, and would just be students recalling information they know from prior to the class to hook their interest. It could also be used at the end of the lesson to gauge what the students all learned during the reptile and amphibian lessons. This book has great pictures and the text is larger than normal and colorful. A fact is given on the page, followed with “true or false?” and the answers are given once you turn the page. Its pictures and text will be comfortable for my lower level readers and build their reading confidence. At the same time, the pictures and content are interesting enough to keep the attention of my higher level thinkers.

This book is full of fun, amazingly colored pictures and also includes fun true and false questions about reptiles. Children can read this both before and after their lesson on reptiles to see what the knew before compared to how much they know after the lesson is completed.

This is an informational book about reptiles. This book makes a statement then asks true or false. On the following page, it tells whether the statement was true or false and then explains why to that answer.

1. n/a
2. Kindergarten-2nd grade.
3. This book is based off of questions that are true or false. As students read the book the author ask questions and the answers are on the back of the page. Along with the answers comes a fun or interesting fact about the reptile. This book counts real photography which is beneficial to some young students ho have never seen one in person.
4. The book is in question form which helps the teacher assess the student as they read or while being read to. It's a page turner because children will be asked a question and want to instantly know if they're answer was true or false.
5. I would create an anchor chart based off of this book to take note of important content. Then from the anchor chart I would have the children work in groups and attempt to draw some of the reptiles the observed in the book.

This was pretty cool. I liked the true or false concept--that would make it good for reading to a group of kids.
