When you pick up a new book, you never know what to expect. Especially with books that you haven't seen much on the internet yet. But it can be so worth it. This novel was the prove of that. It's classified as a YA novel, but it can honestly be read by any age. This book follows Maya, a 17 year old girl that just had her life turned upside down when she had to switch countries for her fathers work. After a short while though, her life starts getting better already. She meets some amazing new people and starts living again. Until the hardest thing ever happens to her.
This author wrote this book in the most beautiful way. She made sure to make me feel all the emotions. She made me get attached to Maya and all the other amazing characters in this story. A slight note that I loved a little less were the few moments where the author used terms like "argh", but that's just a really personal thing that I don't truly love to read. Besides that though, the writing was really captivating. I was taken with the story. It's also a pretty small book, I was able to finish it in one sitting. On the other hand, that did make me feel sad because I had to leave these characters behind so soon already. All by all, I was really taken with this story, and the author really knew her way around painful, emotional yet lovely scenes and moments. She know her way around words and difficult topics.
My review will contain some spoilers from here on. So Maya meets Marco, the cutest italian guy ever. We then get to see them grow closer and fall in love. I must admit that I would have liked to see a few more of those little cute moments between them before the tragedy. But then it happens. Maya's mom gets sick and eventually dies. We follow her journey throughout all the stages and dive into the depts of her hurt. We discover Marco's hurts too. And Anna's, her new found friend turns out to share much of the pain that Maya is feeling at that time. We travel alongside Maya while she tries to figure out all her emotion. And causes some issues with Marco throughout the whole experience. He is great though and so supportive so I was so glad when they figured out their differences. I got really emotional when Maya's mom had to go to the hopsital. Those final moments where so emotional. I really felt the hurt and pain in them. But also so much love. One of my favorites part of this book though, was seeing Maya figure out to start living again. The story closes with Marco taking her on a magical trip and in that moment, she finally felt whole to me again

Black Ceiling - Life happens and it's okay written by Stefanis Michailidi is a young adult novel that explores thr how life changes for Maya. It talks about relationships, love and how uncertain our lives are.
The book discusses the relationship between Maya and her mother, who is her compass in life.
Simple and sweet, the book is amazing read on life and relationships.
Death isn’t the end for all of us. Fight is all we have.

Her mother is sick, and now Maya is worried about her above all else. She wants to enjoy her new life, but her mother is her compass and she cannot begin to imagine what life would be like without her, or her new love Marco, her her new friend Anna. It’s too much for her and she has to learn how to cope.
This book was so sweet. I lost my mother when I was 14 and it changed the dynamic of my entire life, so I understood what Maya was going through. It’s hard for anyone to imagine losing a parent, but being so young, it’s even worse. Maya has to learn a lot about herself, and I did too, so I really, really enjoyed this book. It’s something everyone should read.
It was refreshing to read a book that touched on themes of cancer that are rarely discussed, while still being entertaining at the same time. Black Ceiling is a really great book. It's inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. I couldn't put it down and was stunned by the emotional depth of this novel. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reading about love and enjoys seeing people fight for what life brings.
For me a good book is a book that I fly through its pages and makes me feel. This book did both for me and I highly recommend reading it. The writing is easy and flows effortlessly and the characters feel very real. Especially the main character really resonated with me on a profound level. Her story reminded me of the time where everything, love, sadness, hope, despair, was felt multiplied by 1000. I can easily see myself peaking this book up when I was 16 and loving it all the same.
