Just because you're chosen doesn't mean you want to be

Four years before Nicolas Percival Carnegie was reluctantly chosen to deliver a message, Auron of Tellmark, the legendary Dawnblade, was lumbered with a task he didn't want.

Going from a life of carefree hero work to having the future of the Guild of Heroes' in his hands, Auron finds himself completely out of his depth.

But he's the Dawnblade. What task can't he excel at?

Maybe he will find out when an old enemy returns, hellbent on ensuring that this future never comes to pass and that everything Auron loves is torn down.

This could be Auron's greatest challenge to date, and he would be much happier facing it alone.

Andrew Claydon has an imagination, one full of variety.

Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's adventurous, sometimes it's shocking, and occasionally it's outright strange...but it's never boring!

Andrew is a UK author who grew up loving fantasy movies such as Conan, Krull, Beastmaster and Willow. The epic worlds and battles of swords and sorcery therein inspired him to create his own fantasy worlds, adding to them his own brand of irreverent humour; because sometimes it's good to chuckle in between sword fights!

He wants to inspire the imagination of others, just as he's been inspired; with dashing heroes, epic quests and vile villains.

So reader beware, you aren't just opening a book, but a doorway into Andrew's imagination. It'll be a strange journey, but an entertaining one!

Auren of Tellmark was the Dawnblade, and he was given a task he didn't want. He was asked by the head of the guild of heroes to train a new group of recruits, and he felt he was out of his depth. Auren liked to fight alone, he was not a team player, and seeing who his pupils were he was astounded. If he took on this quest it would be his greatest challenge yet. Obviously he was not given much choice, so he tried to train the strangest group of heroes ever, they all had a different power but apart from using this, they were totally hopeless. An old enemy returns, he is the only opponent that the Dawnblade had allowed to escape, and to his great chagrin he was still wreaking havoc, as he intended to tear down everything Auren loved. His team of recruits decided to come to his aid against Vargas Quell and the battle did not end well! I love were this prequel novel is going, I love Auren as the hero character, and the original powers given to the recruits which were hilarious, and would dearly love to go on reading further into the series!

Loved getting into this prequel while I rather impatiently await book 7 of the series! Loved getting to know Auron before his ghost, I mean spirit, days and learn more about the Heroes of the realm and how the characters came to know eachother. As always the story is a brilliant mixture of action, wit and humour with some real heart felt emotion on top!

Absolutely loved this prequel. Having read books one and two of the Dawnblade chronicles this is a great addition and a must read. It follows Auron 4 years prior to a Simple Delivery, book 1 of the Dawnblade series. Brilliant read!

Auron is forced to train a group of new recruits - but he feels that being a trainer is insulting to his skill.

Although I wasn't sure about the genre, the character development was excellent.
