Bryce Thompson, a family physician, has his whole life upended by a serial killer. When the legal establishment seems more interested in protecting the civil rights of the killer than the rights of the victims, Bryce is forced to begin his own investigation. Realizing that the killer has an in-depth understanding of medicine, he identifies the killer but then must do what the police force cannot. This twisted tale of murder and betrayal, with a killer who's always one step ahead, will haunt even the most hardened reader.
Local author. Really liked his first book, Last flight for Whisky Mike. This one had a lot of medical jargon that I felt I needed to skim over, other than that, good plot and menacing characters. Not sure if I’d doctor with him now though; lol
This book feels like two different authors. The first half is a choppy writing style with a strange mix of unnecessarily large/complex words interspersed with explanation of the most basic medical terminology that moves very slowly. If you stick with it, the second half is an interesting medical psychological thriller. It’s fairly easy to predict what’s coming next as you go, but the end was a little surprising.
Started it. Couldn't put it down. Finished in like 2 days. Only docked a star because I was expecting a major plot twist at the end. The ending was still VERY GOOD and VERY SADISTIC. Also, fair warning, if you're turned off by medical jargon then this will be a tough read.
