Portrait #3

A Portrait of Andrew

Rate this book
A Holly Jolly Christmas is all that artist and part-time psychic, Peter Brandon and his husband, private investigator, Jeff Stevens expect when they visit their friends, Andrew Connor and David Angelo who had moved to New York City, one year earlier.

All that changes when a party guest is murdered and Andrew is considered the prime suspect! It’s up to Jeff and a sympathetic NYPD detective, Nick Fallon, to try and clear Andrew’s name. They are, in turn, aided and hindered by Peter’s erratic psychic abilities ― or disabilities as he calls them ― leading them to a powerful and unexpected showdown when the real killer is exposed.

Along the way, new friendships are made and tested, and one is irrevocably destroyed by lies and betrayal.

J.P. Bowie was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. He wrote his first (unpublished) novel – a science fiction tale of brawny men and brawnier women that made him a little suspect in the eyes of his family for a while.

Leaving home at age eighteen for the bright lights of London, he found himself in the midst of a “diverse and creative crowd” that eventually led him to the performing arts. For the next twelve years he sang, danced and acted his way around the theatres of London and the provinces, appearing in shows with many famous British singers, actors and comedians.

After immigrating to the US and living for many years in Las Vegas where he worked for that incomparable duo, Siegfried and Roy, J.P. found himself entranced by the fair city of San Diego where he currently lives with his partner, Phil.

J.P. loves to hear from his readers and can be contacted at jpbowie@cox.net

This is the third in the portrait series and my favorite thus far! Peter and Jeff decide to visit their friends in NYC and the last thing they expected was to be entangled in a murder mystery where Andrew is a suspect. Andrew, is trying to make the best of David's and his home in NYC, but he misses his friends and the warmth of California. Andrew only friend so far, is Morgan, a woman who has become his best bud and confidant. Morgan is married to Jeremy, a man who hits on and have tryst with any man not attached to an oxygen tube. Morgan has turned a blind eye because he loves Jeremy and although she's rich, she feels Jeremy ( who is younger) is her last chance. Of course, Jeremy the schemer, doesn't like the closeness of Morgan's and Andrew's friendship so he sets up a diabolical plan to bust it up. Also, Jeremy blames Morgan for an accident that proved fatal for the only man he truly loved. Is it really any shock that Jeremy ends up bludgeon to death, the only surprise is that Andrew, who found him is on a list of suspects. Into that realm we meet Nick Fallon, a homicide detective who believes Andrew innocent. Nick , is handsome
, intelligent, and suffering from a broken heart. We soon meet Eric, a paramedic that might be the one who will soften the harden detective. Oh, before we forget, we do have a murder most foul to investigate! Is Morgan hiding something, is she more then the"grieving" widow. Why is she so willing to cast doubts about Andrew's character. Why does Peter feel nauseous when Morgan is near Andrew.? Oh this is a fun read! So take some time and get comfy and read this book!***Such a really good read! I would say I'm sad for what happens to Morgan, but she deserves everything she gets after what she tried to do to Andrew.2/24/16.

YAY Nick and Eric!!!111

I've been waiting for them to make an appearance and finally they did it! I loved seeing Nick working with the police and how he and Eric met and started their relationship - it's just so romantic and touching and lovely *happy sigh*

Great meeting Andrew and David, I missed them and I'm happy with them moving back from New York and how David decided to do it for Andrew is really touching and sweet :)

Jeff and Peter are awesome as always :) Loved Peter's little bout of jealousy of Nick and Jeff and how sweet Jeff's reassurances were.

Jeremy was a scumbag, but still I felt sorry for him when he lost Kavin. Morgan's interesting and complex character too, I felt sorry for her in some moments, but at the end - what a bitch!

Loved-loved-loved this book! :)

Continuing the 'Portrait' series it is nice to have returning characters from Portrait of Philip. Here we see Andrew being railroaded and accused, and he is such a sweetheart too. Although I enjoyed the first in the series, this one, although entertaining, didn't quite wow me as much, I think annoyance at Andrew being maligned interfered. But it's a good tale that slowly builds and builds, this author is always one to enjoy.

This is a great addition to the series. I seriously adore these men. However, I wanted to shake Andrew for not seeing what was right in front of him.

No, Andrew is not the person who needs to be smacked. If you read the book, you'll figure out who it is immediately.

Love this series. The characters are interesting though some times cliche. It has humor, it's sexy and although the mysteries were kind of easy to figure out I enjoyed the ride immensely. I love books that have characters you both love and hate, like Morgan

I am really enjoying this series. I love how the author writes all kinds of mystery and intrigue but doesn't draw it out too long before moving on to the next step. These characters are great - sexy, entertaining and fascinating.

Third book in a series--best one so far just started number 4--the books do have some explicit m/m sex, but they also have good mysteries and very likeable characters
