This six-session Scripture guide will help readers explore the surprising-and often challenging-dimensions of six of Jesus' parables. Each chapter includes the full Scripture text of the parable, a short commentary, and questions that will help readers to deepen their understanding of the story and reflect on its meaning for their own lives. Short In the Spotlight sections supplement the commentary with fascinating historical details, explanations of the Greek root words used in the original Gospels, and quotations from church fathers, saints, and contemporary Catholic writers.
I read this book in a group setting. It was very worthwhile because we discovered new ideas in the Biblical parables. There were six parables in the book. My favorite was the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Each section contained the parable, a discussion of it, how it pertains to the reader's life, other Scripture verses to reflect on, and what the reader can do in response to the parable. It also offers readings from other commentators on the parables and many items are spotlighted that highlight what is in the parable. This was a very worthwhile book.
