Ingerul alb (The White Angel) is the third of a series of 3 detective novels, comprising the "White trilogy" (aka Trilogia in alb). The novels were initially published separately, between 1964-1969.
Main character is charismatic detective, Alexandru Tudor.
Constantin Chirita was born in a family of teachers and he was a well known fiction writer, his books were targeted to the younger readers.
He was a student at the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, after which he dedicated all his time to literature and journalistic.
He came into the literature world in 1949. He also was a good essay writer. In his novels he presented the image of the university and technocrat world.
Constantin Chirita is the author of a well known series of novels called: Ciresarii. They were transformed in the 80 into a television show and enjoyed a great success.
The third and best of the trilogy (this is one I've reread the most - at least 5-6 times, maybe more - across the 40 years since the original read- one of the best mysteries I've ever read, both for its scope (for once this is an international mystery that starts from a brutal kidnapping-murder and 5 million dollar heist in the USA) and for the parody of main figures of mystery literature (Achille Pommot = Hercule Poirot, George Graisset = Maigret, Larry King Jr = Ellery Queen) who are all shown up by the local master detective, Dr Alexandru Tudor, who is called at the scene when the yacht where the mystery resolution is supposed to take place (only to be derailed by a few strategic murders of course) is made to fail in Romanian waters on the mastermind criminal known as the Angel belief that the locals will be cowed by the reputation of the three detectives and go with their conclusions that seem to wrap all quite nicely with justice seemingly served...
