Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.
Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
This a Disney take of some of the classic Jack and the bean stalk story. There is illustrations on every page. There are a lot of words to the page and more of a book to read to a student or for advanced readers to read it.
I don't feel like this is a great story for younger students to read unless they are looking at pictures. They could follow along in with the pictures, but the words are smaller and a lot to a page. This is a fun one for students who enjoy the Disney characters and classic stories.
You could use this book as a read aloud in the classroom. You could also use it to talk about what is nice and not nice and what a classroom community should be like.
Mickey was apprentice to the village blacksmith. He loved!!minor who worked for a baker and lived next door. Mickey and Minnie's lives were horrible so they decided to run away. They walked through the woods and were very tired and hungry. She saw a house made of gingerbread. The owner came out and saw them eating her house. What happened? What did the woman do to them?..Listening/reading is the best way to find out. These stories are actually five minutes long. I was not a believer. I am now.The Disney characters in this story book help to make the story very interesting to the small kiddos. It's a cute set of stories and I'm Glad I read them. I found this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
This book was adorable! It’s great for Mickey and Minnie fans. It retells 4 classic fairytales (Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel) with Disney twists and with Mickey and Minnie as the star characters. While some of the events were ridiculous and so unbelievably unrealistic that it took away from the story, most of the stories were cute and great short reads.
Mickey & his friends star in Disney editions of the classic fairy tales. Most are fairly obvious from their titles which story they are mimicking.
Mickey, Minnie, & the Gingerbread House A Little Red Hen Daisylocks The Prince & the Pauper The City Chipmunk & the Country Chipmunk Little Red Riding Minnie The Princess & the Pea The Gingerbread Man Micky & the Beanstalk Rapunzel The Shoemaker & the Elves Chicken Little

These stories really are each about five minutes long, which I appreciate. Typical fairy tales, but illustrated with Disney characters. F enjoys these, but not quite as much as the 5-Minute Princess Stories book from the same series, which is her real favorite.
So,times the book is supposed to be read in portrait and so,Erika’s it is to be read in landscape. If you choose the wrong display aspect for a particular page, the word gets cut off. Not something that encourages kids to read.
Interesting Disney take on classic fairytales. They have all been changed a bit here and there, but my daughter enjoyed hearing each of the four stories.
My 2 year old loved these stories. He would open the app on his own and waits for me to read to him. He hasn’t asked for too many stories nor sat still for them all.
For what it is, it's good. In the past 2 weeks I've probably read through the whole book at least 3 times, so why not add it to my reading challenge total? I've spent more time with it than my regular books lately. Kids love it. New takes on classic fairy tales with Disney characters. I'm sure I'll end up reading it cover to cover at least 10 times.
I'm sure this is going to be in heavy rotation...my daughter loves Minnie and Mickey. She just turned 2 so the stories are a good length for her right now...and she likes the pictures.
Mickey, Donald, and Goofy eat well after felling the beanstalk and returning the harp. Minnie saves Mickey from an evil witch who wants to eat him. Rapunzel gets rescued by Prince Mickey.
