*The Secret of Chimneys*
I'm continuing to explore the world of the great lady in order of publication whenever possible; as you've probably noticed, I'm still at the beginning of this long quest.
So, on this occasion, I discovered Superintendent Battle of Scotland Yard, a relatively marginal character in Agatha Christie's work. Here is a delightful adventure and espionage story, told at breakneck pace. I thoroughly enjoyed this simple, entertaining tale, which has a touch of vaudeville. At times, it's more of a comedy than anything else, but that doesn't stop the plot from being exciting and engaging.
In fact, what surprised me most is that the main character isn't, as one might expect, Superintendent Battle, but Anthony Cade, a mysterious and charismatic adventurer—I won't say any more.
In conclusion, I devoured this novel in less than four days. The chapters follow one another quickly, and Agatha Christie's sense of plot works wonders here.

*The Murder of Roger Ackroyd*
This novel is the most emblematic of Agatha Christie's work and, upon its release, sparked considerable controversy due to its unprecedented narrative structure. It wasn't so much the plot itself that made it incredible, since the murder of Roger Ackroyd one evening in a library, surrounded by several suspects, is hardly revolutionary. No, what made this novel remarkable for its time was simply Agatha's audacity in breaking free from the established conventions of the detective novel, innovating in a clever, straightforward way - a crime of lese-majesty in the eyes of her peers. Seriously, she was right to do so, as it only makes the basic plot all the more compelling.

Agatha was a great story teller. It's a good book if you like mystery and want something to distract from the world and don't think to much. Really nice entertainment. The second story it's really nice!
