Very informative, beautiful spreads, equal focus on other works than just waterlilies (not my favorite). I love monet's skies and trees. It's like you can feel the sun and the breeze. There are many examples in this book and the text is informative and interesting Our copy was destroyed in the move and I miss it- it was a great cure for winter blahs. :) We will replace our copy eventually.

I never knew what struggles he went through to achieve such beautiful works. The depression, the obsession, the time away from his family. Even until the end he never thought his work was good enough. One can see changes from when he first drew those caricatures, his classical training to his impressionist years. A very detailed book.

This is a coffee table book and who reads those? I was fascinated by Monet and wanted to understand his art. This really helped. I saw a Monet exhibit a few months after I read this and was able to appreciate it on a level that wouldn't have been possible without reading this book.
