When a man rescues you from imminent danger and you look into his eyes only to discover you have found the other half of your soul. What do you do?
Stephan Grayson was coming home from work when something caught his eye. It was a woman being attacked by a man in her apartment, he did what a normal person would do by calling 911 but the humanity in him could not just sit there and wait for the police to finally show up and for all he knew, he may be her last hope of rescue. The 911 operator frantically trying to get him to stay in his car but he told her I will leave my phone on but I will not sit here and do nothing.
Lena Douglas new transplant to Seattle from Washington DC. She is an editor for a magazine and heads up their new Wine section, she loves her job but that isn't the only reason why she left her home state. Getting away from a man she thought she would marry was her first and only priority but only to fall smack into a assault on her life. As she struggles with her attacker, her rescuer comes in determined to save her and fight off the man. The save was brilliant but the battered and wounded woman in his eyes, he could not ignore or his racing heart in helping knocking out her attacker. As the cops arrive on the scene to arrest the man, they suggest after questioning and her refusal to go to a doctor, to stay at a friend's house or a hotel. Stephan volunteered for her to stay with him.
Here is where it gets interesting because Stephan knows, that he has met his soul mate and doesn't want to let her go. Lena feels safe with him but is leery especially of what is going on in her heart. Stephen believes in love at first site because that is the family history he comes from and was told when he met her, he will know and he has met her and knows. Now all he need to do is convince Lena of the same thing.
As the days progress and they are getting to know one another, they both discover that Lena is still very much in danger. A screw up at the police station where her attacker was being held, has now been released. He is on the loose but we see he is not working alone. The person is determined to destroy her but what the person doesn't count on is her life mate will never let anything happen to her, not on his watch and not ever.
Author LaVerne Thompson does a great justice in telling this story of Stephan and Lena. I loved every bit of it, the story didn't seem forced, the characters had chemistry and the suspense was well done.
LaVerne is one of my favourite authors and I have yet to read a book by her that I did not love. She tells romance stories how I love to read them. She got to me again with this one!
This is Lena and Stephan’s story. The story starts off exactly how I love stories to start, with the action from page 1 and the couple meeting right away. Stephan is a hero in many ways. He saves Lena from danger and plans on never letting her go and keeping her safe. I love this couple but I am particularly in love with Stephan. He wants to protect her and keep her secure. “Come home with me,” he spoke softly. “You’ll be safe”.
The story has violence, mystery, suspense is full of the kind of romance I enjoy. The story is centred around the couple and them getting to know and trust each other. There are other minor characters in the story but it’s mainly about this beautiful relationship that comes about during adverse circumstances.
I loved, loved the story and would highly recommend this book!
This was an instant love story. The female character was fighting to make a life for herself after discovering her fiancés was a not so nice person. The main male character just happened to be driving by as she was being attacked. I loved how even though he was drawn to her, he put her feelings and the need for her to heal first. It was cute. The more I read by this author, the more I enjoy her work!
Stephan saves Lena and falls for her in the amount of time it takes to free her from her attacker. Another love at first sight book and a tad over the top, but the author put those touches on it to make it reasonable. There was a decent amount of suspense. An overall enjoyable read.
It's an instalove story set against a stalking ex backstory. Being in the head of the "bad guy" had me on edge, which I'm guessing was the point. The immediate attraction had me confused considering how they met.
Lena Douglas finds herself in a life threatening situation and just when things seem hopeless, her odds drastically change for the better when out of nowhere a handsome stranger comes to her rescue just in the nick of time. Stephan Grayson doesn’t understand how people can standby and do nothing when they see someone in trouble, so when he sees a woman being attacked he vows to do everything in his power to help her. What he didn’t count on was the fact that once he saved her he would find it next to impossible to let her go. Lena and Stephan’s story is one of romance and suspense that had me hooked from the very first page. These two felt a connection to one another from the beginning that refused to be denied. I really enjoyed their story although I felt that the narration was a little off, but overall it was a suspenseful ride to happily ever after for these two and I loved every moment of the journey.
Hold On is the love story that transpires between Stephan, a software developer, and Lena, a wine enthusiast, who works as an editor for the Seattle Times’ wine section. The two strangers cross paths one fateful night when Stephan is at a traffic light and looks up into an open walkway to see Lena struggling with an assailant. Not one to stand idly by and witness a woman being attacked, Stephan feels a sense of obligation to help her since his mother was killed by a hit and run driver and onlookers failed to come to her aid. Stephan makes it to Lena’s apartment building in enough time to foil her attacker but, of course, there are more twists and turns to the story.
After the assailant is apprehended, Stephan notices that Lena is visibly shaken by her attack and offers her refuge at his condo since her apartment is in disarray. Instead of being put off by the offer, Lena takes him up on it and sparks fly between the two. It’s to be expected when two people who have a mutual attraction to one another are placed in close quarters. Although this was a short story, it’s clear that both Stephan and Lena have strong feelings for one another that they can’t deny.
This was my first time reading Ms. Thompson’s work and I have to say I enjoyed the story overall. Initially, I felt some kind of way about a woman almost being raped and then falling in love with her rescuer. It came across as a bit too cliché. Perhaps, it’s due to the fact that I’m not really into the damsel in distress type of heroine. All of that aside, a lot progressed in a short amount of time, which kind of makes me reluctant to give it more than three stars. I did enjoy Ms. Thompson’s writing style and I can definitely say that I will read more of her work. If you’re looking for a short read with some heat and a mild plot twist, you’ll want to check this out.
I liked it. A heroic act sends two strangers in a fast romance between the two of them. When you know that you love someone at first sight you will do everything in your power to convince the other person to take a chance.
A chance glance has Stephan rescuing Lena from a fate worse than death. It also brought him to the love of his life. Now he just has to convince her that they are meant to be together. All while keeping her safe from bad guys.
I love how Lena and Stephan play off each other. I especially like Lena's strong sense of self-worth and fiery determination. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
The action started almost immediately with the hero rescuing the heroine from an attempted rape and it just gets better though I have to admit as to the obvious nature of the plot. There is chemistry, heat and love.
3.00 stars. Stephan Grayson and Lena Douglas begin their story with Lena being attacked as she enters her apartment building. Stephan sees the attack, calls the police but proceeds to bet up the attacker. New to this city, Lena has no friends or relatives to turn to plus she has this desire to be near Stephan which he reciprocates with his feelings of protectiveness for her; so, he offers to put her up at his place and she accepts. They began a romance and become a couple after a few twists and turns that lead to the capture of the attacker and his employer, the story ends. A well written, bland predictable short story.
I enjoyed the writing and the storyline but I couldn't get on board with the I met you today, went home with you, and loved you by day 2. I just can't feel the love when there is no build up. I did really like the characters and the narration was pretty good too!
