A STORMY NIGHT. A HANDSOME STRANGER. A BABY ON HER DOORSTEP.
Once Sharon Adams had her future all planned -- only to see it snatched away in a heartbeat, leaving her dreams in the dust. And then she heard two thumps that fateful snowy night. The first brought Cord Branson, an intriguing and irresistible stranger. And the second, brought the baby, the one she'd always dreamed, and long despaired, of finding....
Loner cowboy Cord couldn't say exactly what had brought him to Sharon's door; he knew only that he had to go inside. And when he saw the lovely woman with that beautiful baby in her arms, for one wild and improbable second, he imagined she was his. The baby theirs. And he knew that, whatever it took, somehow he would make it happen....
With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."
The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.
Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.
In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.
When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.
MEH! Yep, overall it was Meh!... I think there are several legal flaws, but they have to be there to make the story fit. I don't think that Grandma can sign away parental rights, but here she can... This is a cowboy story where the characters use darlin' a great deal... I cringed at that the whole way... BUT darlin', Sharon has a broken heart and knows she is done with love. Grandpa has a whole other perspective and knows that she really isn't. Cord is a newly hired hand that comes with some savings and very high dreams. When Cord and Sharon find a baby in the snow, then they take on shared parent roles which requires a marriage, of course.
I found the plot of the story unlikely, but I am a loyal Sherryl Woods reader so I stuck with it. This is the story of Sharon, Cody's daughter. It is another in the series about the Adams family, the next generation.
Sharon Adams had her future and happiness all planned when it ended in tragedy -- leaving her feeling hopeless. And then one snowy night a sexy cowboy and a baby show up at her door.
Cord Branson is not sure what brought him to Sharon's door. It just seems that it was meant to be. Because while he's there they find a baby left out in the snow at the back door to her drug store. Once Sharon sees the baby she has feelings she has longed for but had given up any hope of ever having. When Cord sees the baby in Sharon's arm he will do whatever it takes to make them a family.
Sharon Lynn Adams is barely recovered from the loss of her husband in a crash on their wedding day. But one cold, snowy winter's night changes all that, with cowboy Cord Branson stopping in at Dolan's for a late dinner, and finding an abandoned baby by the diner's back door. With Grandpa Harlan pulling a few strings, Sharon Lynn gets approved as a foster parent, but isn't prepared for Cord to stick around. And all the Adams' have opinions on the matter.
Nice story, but a stray thread about the baby's mother wasn't cleared up. I don't know if it gets taken care of in a later book or not.
This is a sweet story! Sharon Lynn is a woman who is still trying to deal with the loss of her husband of a day. One cold winter night, Cord walks into her store. He instantly was attracted to her. They end up finding a baby girl abandoned and they start to care for her. Add in her family that only wants the best for her but tends to meddle in her life and you have this book.
I don't read a lot of romance and women's fiction books, but I bought this book to pass the time at work. I was surprised at how much I like it. She drew me into the place. I felt as if I was right there (Sharon's best friend) watching everything unfold.
I didnt have anything on my kindle..downloaded this.... :( Very predictable... Sharon Lynn was a crier..every time anything happened ...she cried. We knew she was going to get super attached to that baby. We knew they would end up married "in name only" to Cord. We knew the grandmother was going to do what she did. etc etc etc.... I'm just glad this book was from the early 90's..that explains a lot! This was def not up to Sherryl Woods "today' standards!
I love the strong, sexy, honest, loyal heroes that Sherryl Woods writes! Only a year after the biggest tragedy of her life, the greatest gifts God could give her dropped into Sharon Lynn Adam's life.
I love read about the character in the book it was sad what happen shannon lynn with her first husband but she was able to find love in her heart again for a other love and get two babies at the sametime.
Cord stopped late one icy night at the drug store. He met Sharon Lynn and even later there was a sound outside that they went to check. There was a tiny baby in the icy storm at the back door. It took months before Cord and Sharon Lynn were able to marry and adopt baby Ashley
I'm so glad that Sharon Lynn got another chance at love and family. Cord got what he has been looking for too. Can't wait to read more from this series.
A delightfully touching story that gives a man a home and family he always wanted, a heartbroken woman a reason to go on and an abandoned baby a chance at a life with a caring family.
A really nice enjoyable story with a male character right out of our romantic hearts.
And a heroine resolved never to love again (risk her heart, in her words), after losing her husband at their wedding day due to a drunk driver.
The only thing that did annoy me were the names. Sharon Lynn and Harlon Patrick. Not that the names are bad or a problem in itself, but the woman got called Sharon Lynn by everyone; just like her brother Harlon Patrick. She wasn't just called Sharon or Lynn, it's always Sharon Lynn. It doesn't make the story bad in anyway or really takes away from it, but it did annoy me.
Beautiful story. I loved this one. I loved revisiting this Texas town and hearing how the rest of Sharon’s story played out. I first met her in Natural Born Lawman. I love how Ms. Woods creates memorable characters that I will keep dear to my heart. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy this genre and that enjoy sappy sweet stories with characters that have flaws and holdbacks they have to work through...and a HEA ending.
I enjoyed the story of Bronte and Luca and it was interesting to finally find out what had seperated them since sometimes story lines tend to repeat themselves this one was a new one for me. His medical condition (not what you would think...haha) kept him away as not to hurt the one you love but ended up hurting Bronte by leaving her out of his life. It was a fun read.
This was a good book about a widow having a baby left on her doorstep. A cowboy looking for a job had just come to her diner. They wanted to raise this baby themselves.
