The pictures in this book were magnificent but I found the information to be quite contradictory from every book I have recently read concerning box turtles. Also, it had a bunch of "we don't know" this or that about the box turtle because they have not been "studied" in depth enough. So much so that it made me wonder if the box turtle has ever been studied.

While it's not a bad book, this is one that I wouldn't start with if you are interested in learning about box turtles.

Box Turtles is a nonfiction text intended for children. Lynn M. Stone does a great job informing the reader about special qualities within box turtles and also explains how to care for them as pets if one chooses to do so. With each turn of a page, the reader is presented with large print and a photographed picture of a box turtle.

I would recommend this book. It is an easy read for most students- minus a few factual words specific to the topic. Also, the pictures are not illustrated, instead, they are real-life pictures taken by a person.

This book could be used as a care guide for a student or as a research project resource.

Fascinating introduction to box turtles. I especially appreciated the honesty of the author in stating that while scientists have hypotheses about the hows and whys of box turtles, they don't actually know everything. This is good, honest, scientific writing, at a level perfect for elementary-aged kids looking to do some research/ I know I learned a lot!

This had a lot of information, which we liked. I wish there had been more pictures to depict certain turtles that were discussed. My kids thought it was mostly boring.

I thought that this was a really easy read. It just teaches you all of the basic things that informational books can teach about animals, reptiles and other things like that.
