Take a trip to Compass Cove, an enchanted town full of magic and mayhem…

Things are heating up in Compass Cove, there’s a serial arsonist on the loose and it seems their targets aren’t random. A new crime scene appears with a message for the Wick You’re next.

As luck has it there’s more than one frying pan for Zora to hop out of this time. The neighboring mining town of Siskapon is facing paranormal problems of its own. Three people have been reported missing but when Zora and Hudson go to check it out there’s one slight issue—none of the town residents seem to recall the missing people ever living there.

Things only get stranger when Zora gets a free minute to remember that her familiar, Hermes, was recently revealed to be a world-renowned jewel thief. He’s on the run and Magical Crimes Investigation are turning the world upside down to try and find him. A swat team of magical agents in your apartment while you read the morning paper? Just another Monday for Zora.

That’s probably enough in itself to keep Zora’s head spinning, but her adopted teenage daughter has just started high school and keeping adolescent emotions in check might just be the toughest nut to crack out of all of them.

Will Zora survive to see Christmas? Only time will tell.

Our heroine has many problems to juggle right now including arson, missing persons and teenagers. That is enough to drive anyone a bit crazy.

This is book eight of the series, but it does just fine as a standalone. No prior reading is required.

This is a cozy witch mystery with a bakery as the centerpiece. The story is well written, easy to read with a great setting filled with mystery and intrigue. The characters are well done and certainly provide some interesting variety within the story. The mystery is good, with enough twists to it to keep you going up until the end. I loved the zany bits throughout the story as they add a nice touch of humor. Overall, another very fun read and I look forward to more in this series.

Highly recommended.

Missing persons, arson, mind wipes?

There was so much happening and it was up to Zora to figure it all out. I’m absolutely shocked at the arson culprit. Did not see it coming. The mind wiping and the monster, well sort of figured out a very, VERY, small part! LOL! I’m surprised about Hermes and his huge secret. And I really hope Kinkade sticks around. Maybe she could be Harley’s familiar?? They get along great and she sounds adorable! Talkative, but adorable!

great read!

Love this author and series! I just finished them all with a marathon read. I love how Zora is able to work her “magic” as a super sleuth and solve cases for the bumbling police.

Boy was this book FUN! What an imagination! Made me feel like a young girl again, enjoying playing our imaginary games with my sister Peg. In all honesty I have not grown up enough to want to leave it behind and so loved reading this book!

Once again I enjoyed an escape to a world of magic and adventure from that wild imagination evidently the author Mara Webb has.

What a pleasure :)

Thank you, Mara, for brightening up my nightly read and giving me that trek over there to Compass Cove :)

Love it

I really like this series. It's nonsensical enough to be light reading, but the characters are developed well n you can relate to their difficulties n become immersed in their story.
