Reckless Behavior

Rate this book
After six months with his lover, Cody yearns for monogamy. The threesomes he and Dante engage in are fun, but he needs more from the man he loves. Although Cody longs to tell Dante how he feels, he fears love and fidelity are two words missing from his older lover’s vocabulary.

The discovery of a naked man in Dante’s apartment confirms Cody’s worst fears. The cliché Dante uses as an excuse for his betrayal further clouds the issue at hand. Cody doesn’t know whether to trust the word of a man notorious for screwing around, or believe the worst and walk away from everything he holds dear.

Cody and Dante have been together for six months. Cody is head over heels in love with Dante. Dante is everything he's ever wanted in a man. However, Cody doesn't express his feelings to Dante for fear of scaring the older man off (Cody's young, still in college, and Dante's a bit older, 32 if memory serves). Dante has a reputation for one night stands, and while Cody thinks Dante sees him as more than just a fuck, he's relucant to risk losing the man he loves, so he stays silent.

Dante was Cody's first lover, and he takes upon himself to broaden Cody's experience. Cody's more than an eager participant. One New Year's Eve, Dante suggests they indulge in a threesome. Though Cody's nervous, he's definitely up for trying something new. Since then, Cody and Dante have been indulging in threesomes. They have rules, of course - they both have to agree to the 3rd guy and they only sleep with another guy if they are together. i.e no cheating behind each other's backs. Cody and Dante trust each other, and are secure in the knowledge that at the end of the night, it will be the two of them together.

But after a few months of threesomes, Dante's starting to get restless. He yearns for just Cody in his bed. And Cody, he's starting to tire of their kinky play as well. He loves Dante, and though he likes the heady feeling of being the object of 2 men's desires, he also wants his relationship with Dante to be monogomous. First though, he indulges in one last threesome with Dante while they are on vacation in Palm Springs. And let me tell you, it's a damn hot scene! :D

I know some readers don't get into threesomes, but I think it worked very well in this book. Dante and Cody were first an established pair, they really cared for one another, and the 3rd they selected for any given night was just for pleasure. No softer feelings, and both of them wanted to play. Even when there was a 3rd guy in the scene, you could feel the depth of emotion between Cody and Dante. Plus, Cody's young. Dante was the first guy he had sex with. So having the opportunity to play with other guys (with Dante) served to cement in Cody's mind that Dante was the only man he really wanted to be with. Kinda gave him the opportunity to sow his wild oats, so to speak, while being with Dante.

Anyway, the book is short, so I won't give away the rest of the plot. Needless to say, it ends with a HEA and with Cody and Dante as a monogomous pair (not extra m's at the end).

I really loved this book - it was scorching hot and sweet at the same time. If you're in the mood for some kink, I highly recommend this book.

Note: This book is a sequel to Reckless Seduction. I definitely recommend reading Reckless Seduction first, before reading Reckless Behavior.

Cody is a nineteen year old virgin who met Dante at a costume party and happily had his virginity taken away by the sexy older man. Since Dante was certainly no stranger to sexual exploration he easily agreed to Cody spreading his wings, so to speak, with other men. The only provision was to enjoy the other men together. Now, six months have past of various threesomes and fun, hot sex with random men and both Cody and Dante are tiring of the wild sex. Unfortunately, they won’t simply sit down and express this to each other and thus perpetuate the “big misunderstanding” theme that is used within this short, mostly sex based sequel.

The majority of the story is comprised of sex scenes – which are certainly hot and ranging from double penetration to threesomes and morning sex. Unfortunately all these sex scenes are well over half the book leaving the actual characters with little definition, almost no progression, and the overall story a flat and empty excuse to have some really hot sex between two gorgeous gay guys. Part of the problem with this is the inherent issues with a sequel when the plot is rather thin. Here the actual tension and plot stems from both Cody and Dante wanting monogamy but prefer to believe the other man could never want the same thing. This refusal to actually talk is an annoying device, although likely realistic given the numerous communication problems between couples.

Unfortunately the insistence on using this theme of misunderstanding, miscommunication, lack of actual conversation, and outright lying leads the characters to be rather empty and their relationship to fall flat. Why Cody and Dante are in love is a mystery as their six month relationship seems to be heavily based on sex, with each other and other men, and very little actual connection. Several times the lack of knowledge about basic facts of each man, such as family, shows not only how little they know about each other, but they never think to ask. Furthermore, both express a great deal of enjoyment within the threesomes that contradicts their internal musings that they are tiring of the sexual antics. Neither Cody nor Dante actually seem to want to stop the threesomes, more so they want emotional reassurance that their feelings are returned.

This contradictory element is repeated throughout the story in the brief scenes of inner contemplation the characters have in between rampant sex and miscommunication. Dante muses that he wants Cody all to himself, yet hopes Cody doesn’t mind sharing Dante’s attention with the mystery Milo (whose identity is revealed but is somewhat of a mild spoiler so I won’t mention specifics). While this dichotomy is explained, it’s an example of the contradictions that were heavily used within the story. Additional factors are ignored such as the age difference with Cody being nineteen to Dante’s thirty-two that could have provided more depth to their relationship if explained or explored. Instead the author choose to stay with the yearning for monogamy in between rampant sex with a resolution to the misunderstanding as quick and easy leading to the one actual conversation these men have at the end of the book.

The writing wasn’t bad even with the editing errors as Young can definitely write a scorching hot sex scene in explicit detail while keeping each one different with a purpose for the book. From showing their glee in the sexual antics to their desire for each other and thankfully a focus on safe sex, none of the scenes are rote although they are clearly fantasy romance. Perhaps the characters are given more depth and definition in the initial book, but even if they had the reason for this sequel still reads thin to me. If you’re looking for an easy book without a lot of depth in the men or plot but super hot sex scenes – this may be it for you.

All right, this book was quite a challenge; I will not give up the story saying that Cody and Dante, the main characters in Reckless Seduction, are now having a good relationship, six months after the end of the previous book, but promiscuous. Here is where the author pushes one of my sorrowful button, I don't like promiscuous relationships... even more since Cody, in the previous book, even if a bit slutty in behavior, it was not so in the reality, he was on the contrary a virgin that practically seduced the much older Dante, a family friend, and at the end of that book I was expecting for them to walk toward the sunset in blissful harmony. And instead here they are, having threesomes like eating candy... and as almost to add weight to my "pink glasses" perspective on love, they are not happy. Since both of them seem to be unable to voice their discomfort, they continue in that path, but Dante is weary and he is begun to "feel" the age he has, and Cody is tired, at the beginning the novelty was nice, but now he would be content enough with only Dante in his bed.

The novella starts with a live threesome, to continue with the memory of the first time Dante proposed to his young lover Cody to "experiment"; probably this serves to the author to prove that Cody had the chance to "taste" everything and so he is now able to consciously decide that he wants only a lover and a monogamous relationship. Deep down I know that this is right, thinking that young and virgin Cody was in a monogamous relationship with Dante since the beginning, and never ever in his life would taste something different, was really a too much "pink glasses" perspective; a relationship like that was fated to fail, since probably Cody, sooner or later, would have questioned if what he had was really what he wanted, and if not maybe outside there was something different and better.

So yes, my gut says that I don't like how the book starts, but my brain says that it's right and I like how it ends. Other than all my speculation on the almost "educational" behavior of Dante in regard of Cody's good, the book is also a way for Amanda Young to write a really naughty book, full of detailed sex scenes (3 long sex scenes in a novella lenght), so, if you like your sex hot, down and dirty, and a bit kinky, you have a reason more to read this one. Plus there is always the factor that this is a sequel, so if you read the first one, and liked it, probably you should read also this one. Be warned the readers with pink glasses like me, and take in account that, in the end, this is not a bad turn in a romantic story, only a temporary derailment ;-)

The second book in this series was a great read. Even though I read this book before the first book in this series (I didn't realize this was the second book until I had already finished it) I was not the least bit confused. The book flowed so well.

This book starts 6 months into the relationship of Cody and Dante, who I both adore. They are wonderful men who have huge hearts. In this book, they are very adventurous with their sex lives by participating in threesomes. They are both tired of sharing but the failed to mention this information to each other. They each think that the other enjoys the threesomes and want to continue them.

Dante is afraid that he is too old for Cody (he's 32 and Cody is 19) and he is scared that Cody will lose interest in him and seek younger men. Cody, on the other hand is afraid to tell Dante that he is in love with him and scare him away. Dante has a reputation for being a player and that his relationship with Cody is fleeting.

We obviously know what is going to happen, however, the journey to get to their realizations is a wild ride and most entertaining. Again, my only complaint, as with the first book, is that the book just was not long enough. They are such teasers. I want more Dante and Cody.

Cody and Dante want the same things only they don't know it. By giving into their fears and not talking they drag out thier insecurities. This leads to misunderstandings and more confusion.

Hopefully this is not the last we see of Cody and Dante. It was left with a HFN feel that could use some resolution...even if just a short story to show them communicating better and living/thinking as a unit.

Following the norm of sequels, this book did not to live up to the expectations of the previous book. The story itself is not too bad but a little on the thin side. There's a number of threesome scenes that would have been quite titillating to read if they weren't written back to back.

Frankly, I found the "I love him and want to be exclusive, but I can't tell him" aspect of these two lovers extremely irritating to read.

I got around to reading the rest of the Reckless series that is currently out: Reckless Behavior, Reckless Passion, and Reckless Heart.

This is the continuation of the first story, and it's been long enough since I read the first book that I didn't remember it, but it wasn't really necessary. The stories are short. The main issue in this one is that Cody knows that Dante is keeping things from him, and when he's confronted with one of them, Cody jumps to conclusions. They work it out, of course.

3 stars.

Amanda Young is always able to push my boundaries. I am not a huge fan of threesome but the way she writes it here ... Gosh, darn it, it's so freaking HOT! The description of that hotness alone makes this book deserves 4 stars :p. This story is a sequel of "Reckless Seduction". Six months into their relationship, Dante and Cody are lovers who also practice threesome. Unknown to the other man, each actually long to have monogamous relationship. One word, guys, communication!! *g*. I think both are adorable and I enjoy the ending.

This book is a sequel to Reckless Seduction. I liked this story better than the first. It could stand on its own, but works better if the previous story is read first. It is mostly hot sex including threesomes and double penetration. It has a hopeful HEA. Hopeful in that the two need to learn to communicate more, but the ending shows a start of that. It could have used an epilogue or another story showing them communicating better. I would suggest reading the other reviews before buying this book.

When you are getting everything that you want ... or at least you think you want ... and then you want something different. Oh and throw a brother into the mix. Then you get a lot of "what is going on?" Cody and Dante get to try and figure out what type of relationship works best for them. I really enjoyed both of the characters. I would recommend this book if you enjoyed the first one. Happy Reading!

I can not believe I am saying this, but too much sex. Was it too much to ask to actually get to know the characters better?

You know what communication means? NO unnecessary DRAAAAAMA!

Seriously though. I was looking forward to the sequel, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

Cody and Dante are six months into their relationship and things are hot in the bedroom as they pick up guys to have sex with. Privately though each one is tired of the game but afraid to say so. Boy did these two need a lesson in communicating (most especially Dante). Still it was a cute story and I'll be reading the third story at some point.

This is the second book in Young’s Reckless series and it’s just as hot and steamy as the first, even though I’m not usually fond of threesomes. There’s hot sex, some angst, a few misunderstandings, and need I mention the cover on this one is just as hot as the first? I didn’t think so. ^_^

While I didn't like that these two men (who hooked up in the first book of the series) now had threesomes on a regular basis, these threesomes were the catalyst for the good parts of the story -- both men secretly don't want to share the other, but neither thinks the other will go for giving up the third stranger.

Not nearly as good as the first but okay. The lack of communication was ridiculous between Cody and Dante and even though they had an 'agreement' regarding the threesomes it still seemed overly dramatic when Cody found Milo in Dante's apartment. But it ended well, albeit quickly. I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book Cody gets hot headed and thinks the worst when a sexy young man opens the door to his loves apartment. Oh boy how things can go wrong but I pleased to say that after some cooling down time and speaking with his Uncle things get sorted so that this amazing couple can get on with their lives.
Would I recommend this book YES

Read it three years ago, I re-read it these days. It's not a work of art, it's rather simple but it's comforting and enjoyable. And it's hot.
