And some posses a wisdom and humanity that is an essential part of moving beyond the events of 9/11. This single volume is in effect two books, with two covers, a "before" and an "after," with a separate introduction for each. This was, appropriately, one of my subway books while we were living in New York, (convenient small size, to be kept in purse to be read on subway). Unless you're living in New York, it's really not that interesting. And even if you are, it's still not that interesting. An easy book to read on the subway because you don't mind stopping all the time and reading in bits and pieces.

The front of the book has essays written before 9/11 and the back has essays written after 9/11.
