WARNING: This is an AGE GAP - STUDENT/TEACHER romance where a younger male pursues an older female. If those aren’t your preferred tropes, this may not be the book for you.
Dallis Banks is your typical nineteen-year-old senior. He's smart but seldom pays attention in class. He was going to inherit his father's portion of a multimillion-dollar company, so he didn't see a need for school. There was, however, one class he paid attention to, and that was his history class, though his attention was paid more to his teacher, Ms. Morris.
Colbie Morris is your average twenty-five-year-old. She's a high school history teacher, and it's her first year teaching at a new school after transferring to get away from the woman her ex-fiancé cheated with. She enjoyed her job; it was like any other, with a minor exception.
All Dallis wants to do is show Colbie that age is nothing but a number and that he’s the man for her. Will Colbie give him a chance and see if they can make it work? Or will it all come crumbling down?
EXCERPT:
Colbie couldn't believe what was happening. She was sitting on her kitchen counter; legs parted as her nineteen-year-old student played with her clit. His lips were latched onto her neck as he sucked it hard. She knew he was going to leave a bruise, that he was marking her as his. For some reason, that had her inner sex fiend, GiGi, excited.
She heard the distinct sound of a zipper and knew he was likely freeing himself from his pants. Colbie knew she should have snapped out of it and stopped this. Should have put a stop to it weeks ago, but again her damn body was working against her.
As he thrummed her clit, she felt the head of his dick at her entrance. Lifting his head from her neck, Dallis locked his green eyes onto her brown ones.
"Next time you decide to go out with another man, remember this," Dallis stated, snapping his hips and burying himself to the hilt, causing her to cry out in pleasure. "He can't fuck you like I'm about to."
This is an interracial romance.
TW: Contains strong language, explicit sexual content, mild violence, and an age gap
My mind is a labyrinth of worlds filled with people who are dying to meet you. I spin storylines that drag you in and hold you hostage, but in all honesty, you won't want them to let you go. I enjoy weaving intricate tales that will have you at the edge of your seat, and the compulsion to keep reading, keep turning the page overwhelms you.
Thank you all for visiting my little slice of literary paradise. Each and every review is greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoy the adventures my books take you on and continue to come back and allow each one of them to transport you to a different place.
First, this was an ARC & I am so happy I signed up! I couldn't wait to read Surrender. Dallis & Colbie are adorable and their teasing is combustible. In the classroom, Dallis is the eager student and hangs on to his teacher's words, while Colbie tries not to dissolve at the looks Dallis throws her, but outside the classroom...they are a sexy couple. I love that he takes so much care with her and her love for her job so he gets creative with the dates he takes her on-which was sooo fun to read! Easily one of my favorite couples, and don't even get me started on their romps.. 🔥straight filthy, just the way I like
It took me a couple of tries to read this book. Not because it wasn’t good but because it wasn’t my style but once I really sat down to give it a chance I realized how good it was.
Reverse age gap, although the MMC is 19 and the MFC is 25. So they weren’t far in age difference. Colbie moved to town and was the teacher in one of Dallis’ classes. Low angst and buildup between them, but there are lots of smexy times. Dallis is jealous/ possessive and all about she is MINE!!! Great read!
This book was amazing. I enjoyed reading this book especially from Colbie point of view. The internal conflict she was having with herself was sometime so realistic because we all have those same debate with ourselves. The author portrayed Dallis so well that he had to remind myself of his age.
This age gap story was different which made it interesting. Both protagonists were ok, although I had a soft spot for Dallis. Unfortunately the ending felt unfinished, unless it’s a series. The love story was also too smooth sailing making slightly boring. I would have imagined that at some point they would have had some issues because of the age difference and the position of power she was in. I also thought she was ok with a relationship far too quickly. It felt unrealistic. Lastly everybody around him and her parents were in similar relationships, making it unbelievable.
Too wordy. A lot of unnecessary descriptions that added no value to the story. A lot of unnecessary scenes. I actually couldn’t wait for the story to end. Tended to be boring.
Dallis is a nineteen year old senior in high school, and Colbie is his twenty-five year old history teacher. The age gap, while exciting and brings a different component to the book by being a reverse age gap, isn’t too significant.
When we’re first introduced to Colbie and Dallis, he’s admiring her as she teaches. From there, I already knew that this young man was going to have it bad for Colbie, and I was ready for it. The way he describes and depicts her is genuine and sweet, and it’s no surprise when we discover that he’s been attracted to her for over two months.
He makes the first move, and naturally, Colbie is skeptical about it. First because of his age, which is put to rest, but also because she’s his teacher. She has this internal struggle and back and forth with her subconscious, even reaching out to a character from another book I’ve read by the author. Which I enjoyed getting to see. Dallis wears her down with promises to take her places where the chances of them being seen together are slim to none, and on their first date, he takes her two hours away to keep his promise.
Dallis is so protective of Colbie to a fault. He isn’t letting anyone come for her without consequences, and we get to see the way he protects and stands up for her several times.
I enjoyed reading about the support their relationship got from his family. The people around him are in similar relationships, and for me, that helped solidify that he wasn’t looking for something short term. He's grown up around the same type of love he was pursuing, and I think seeing that helped show Colbie that he was in it for the long haul and gave her peace of mind that they would have support.
Colbie was such a great character to read. I felt her struggle, the back and forth with whether or not she should give Dallis a chance because she had so much that she could lose, and I felt for her. It’s a hard decision to make, and though she agrees to go out with him the first time, we can see that she’s still a bit skeptical. She still has some doubts and reservations.
I think one of my favorite things about the book was how Colbie didn’t compromise being his teacher while being his girlfriend. Without giving too much away, there is a part where she gives him zeros for several assignments. He gets no special treatment or favoritism, and that says a lot about her integrity and the respect she has for what she does.
She's also very patient because there were two people in the book that I would have had words with long before she did. She tried to be diplomatic, and I would have come out hurting feelings because leave her alone and let her live her life. If it doesn’t concern or hurt you, let her live.
The chemistry she and Dallis have was interesting to read. We got to see the way it transitioned from essentially puppy love to something deeper, and for the most part, unless I was reading something that had to do with the classroom, I often forgot that he was younger than she was. He was very mature, and the author did a great job at capturing that while also not making him seem more mature than Colbie.
The crossovers that we got in this book were so nice, and I always enjoy it when authors tie their works together. There’s more I could say, but then I’d be entering deep spoiler territory.
If you’re interested in reading a reverse age gap with great chemistry, maturity, compromise, an easy to follow storyline, and more. I highly recommend this book.
This was my first reverse age gap read with Dallis being a nineteen-year-old senior, while Colbie is his twenty-five-year-old teacher. Needless to say, the author did not fail me. Their student-teacher dynamic being a bit of a taboo provides an exhilarating aspect.
It is clear, from the beginning, that Dallis holds Colbie in high esteem. While he's undeniably attracted to her, it's evident that he seeks something deeper with her. Something he expresses when he makes his move. His pursuit of Colbie reminded me why seduction is described as art. He is nothing short of smooth, chilvarous, protective and dominating. Colbie is, of course, hesitant - which is no surprise as she is his teacher and is obligated to remain ethical. I loved how her inner conflict was portrayed and how Dallis' actions, his honesty and forthcoming nature helped with eventually giving her a sense of security.
I loved how he respected her enough to ensure that his pursuit of her wouldn't jeopardise her job (that being a contributing factor to her hesitation). This really spoke to his maturity - which was not too far fetched for his age. I felt the author did well with making him mature enough to behave and have the mentality he has without it being unrealistic.
Their moments of conflict tugged at my heartstrings but they managed to get back from those without unnecessary drama. Their development from pure chemistry to a deeper connection was inspiring. They were both catalysts for each other's growth and they proved time and time again that they are equally yoked.
I feel that the support they had, from Dallis' family to Colbie's friend, siblings and father was needed because the odds (their student-teacher dynamic and remnants of Colbie's past) were enough of a challenge. I loved how their loved ones focused on their happiness in the advices they gave. And you know it is a Teir Marks masterpiece because this is a multi-series universe with some faves making a cameo/being name dropped...world-building at its best!
Also, Colbie's inner vixen was a mood because I stayed fanning myself - the manner in which the author intricately writes erotic scenes never fails to leave me stunned.
Now that I've gotten that out, I have to move on to the cons. The con being my inability to insert myself into the book and lay hands on certain menaces in Dallis and Colbie's lives. I do not want to say too much but wow, the enemies of happiness were at work, while also raising my blood pressure. Needless to say, I'll be re-reading!
All in all, this read started off 2023 on a good note, earning it a 5 star rating. If you love reading about Black women being loved, unabashedly without the romance taking her to hell and back, and won't have a freak-attack about the age gap, I recommend you pick up this read.
Let me start by saying this is the first age gap novel I’ve read where the male was younger than the female, and for a first, I wasn’t disappointed. Dallis and Colbie were such likable characters, and they complimented one another well. Another reviewer said they often forgot he was younger than her when they weren’t in the classroom, and honestly, same. The way he was written was mature, but not overly so that it was unbelievable. It wasn’t like we were reading the personality of a sixty-year-old in a young adult body. I appreciated that.
The dates they went on were so thought out and well-planned; spoiler alert, their waterfall date, though simple, was probably my favorite because they spent it making crafts and talking, which was another thing I enjoyed. Their communication was so good. Even when they disagreed, they were able to come back together and fix things.
With it being a student/teacher romance, I was worried that someone or something was going to expose them and her job was going to be at risk, but I liked that we got other tense moments that added drama to the story in lieu of that because I might have cried if Colbie lost her job. Though Max did try to shoot his shot which got immediately rejected, he just couldn’t leave well enough alone and had to step to Colbie in front of Dallis. I bet he won’t be doing that again. There was also Will, who was getting on my everlasting nerve. Sir, jump off a cliff, please. I’m noticing this writer is good at writing characters that we can all collectively hate, and for some reason, I like that. It means I’m not alone in my dislike, lol.
The fact that Dallis took steps to assure her job would be safe after graduation was sweet of him. It showed that even though he was finished with school and their relationship wasn’t subject to scrutiny anymore, he wanted to know that Colbie would be all right.
I also enjoyed that this wasn’t an instalove story like a lot of forbidden novels tend to be. We got to see their chemistry grow and their relationship develop, change, and progress. While we expect his parents to be supportive because they’d be hypocrites if they weren’t, shoutout to Colbie’s siblings and dad for understanding that she was happy in her relationship and Dallis treated her well.
The teacher was being schooled in the art of love by her student and I was all in for this lesson😉. This was another hit for Mrs. Tier Marks.
Dallis may be young but he’s more a man than many who claim to be. He’s always known when he found his lady she would be it for him and Colbie was the one😍. Some of the things he says and the boldness in his actions amazed and thrilled me, like whoa😮😙. Colbie was right to be concerned with Dallis’s advances. As his teacher she needed to keep thing professional yet everything in her was screaming to give into her desire and my goodness did Dallis put it down🥵😈🥵. I appreciated that Dallis kept in mind the sensitivty of their relationship being secret to not jeopardize Colbie’s career and appreciated the thoughtful ways they spent time together. The family drama was interesting and it was nice that everyone accepted and supported the couple with the exception of Denise who most definitely needed to back off and go kick rocks with Will😏. GiGi definitely had me laughing and I was 100% on her side😉👍🏾
The age gap romances I tend to read have young MC in their 30’s so this was way out of that range but I really enjoyed this couple🥰. It’s another sign that age doesn’t matter as much as maturity and Dallis definitely had it. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read about the other young lads in this series😚.
First time reading a reverse age gap and it was okay. It left me wanted and i found myself skimming through alot.
What i didn’t like was it was too wordy. I mean all their actions were written out. I understand that’s necessary sometimes but it was either inner monologue or just writing about what’s going on. I didn’t get the feels because they barely said anything to each other. She denied him like twice. Their first date it was no more than a handful of sentences spoken. Just inner monologue. So I couldn’t really connect because i’m just reading ‘oh she’s walking trying to find which ride for us to go on.’ It was just lacking to me. For her to be a adult she let him make most of the decisions. Again not alot of words exchanged. He would talk and she would go on a inner monologue. I thought all the main adults being in life having reverse age gap was overkill. I felt he was impulsive at times forcing her hand to tell him things or handle a situation and if not he would handle it which would put them at risk for being exposed. She would just do it. Alot of times i felt he was selfish and not even taking into consideration how these situations would make her feel. I’m not going say because he was younger he couldn’t be dominant but it came off to me as childish because he wanted things his way. So wasn’t thrilled about this read.
DNF 47%. Very interesting premise, especially with the "Taboo" aspect while being safe enough as the relationship is quite legal and she actually isn't that much older than him. However, the heroine Colbie is as bland as unbuttered bread. She honestly has no detectable personality or hobbies and besides from being attractive, I'm not sure what Dallis wants with her. Speaking of, all the adults in his life are so hypersexual that it's just weird. Like, please don't performing sex acts at the dinner table with your children and nephews right there!
The author's writing style is also very list-like and includes mundane, unnecessary details. "She woke up. She yawned. She walked down the hall to the bathroom and brushed her teeth." And while tiring, I could push through it for the sake of story but honestly, there's no investment for me, so why bother. While Dallis is interesting and has more personality and things going for him, hobbies and so on, Colie is just too bland to carry her half of the story.
This book was actually a good feel good story with a little bit of a twist. It was sweet, romantic and very cute 😊. Dallas was all around a man. He was thoughtful, very mature and responsible. And Colbie was also all that but annoying as well (well at the beginning) and somewhat boring. Actually Dallis made the book not being boring. I thought I was going to be offended about this taboo subject but when you think how it’s ok if it was a younger female to an older man, this wasn’t so bad at all. Dylan, Joyce, Drew, and the extended family were awsome. Wonder what happened to Max as well as coach Parker. So far this is my second book from this author and I am loving it.
I really enjoyed this story! The amount of times I thought they would get caught by psycho Will had me on edge. As far as her mom, throw the whole woman away... I'm a bit surprised that we never hear more about the coach, I thought he would pop up again or Max and the other players on the team would be meddling more or even Harper wanting to come for them! But it was such a good read and I know I will keep coming back to it! Also love love love the addition of some fan faves hey Marco and Yani!! I hope we can get books for Hayden and Arsyn!
I fall in love with Dallas & Colbie, this was a very great romance. When I find a great read, if I every say I’m re-reading it, which I do 2 or 3 times, then it’s a awesome read. First I was thinking wow this boy is to young but the more I read, it turned into wow that’s so true. Will was a idiot, it was all about him, made me think of my ex, he’s 59 will be 60 in 8 months and still hasn’t grown up. I kept thinking I could help him or it was my fault, it was none of the above. I can’t wait to see the other 2 cousins of Dallis get there women.
When Dallis first meets his European History teacher, he was immediately in love. The only obstacles was his age and that whole teacher thing😳. Colbie was impressed by his maturity and resolve but liking him could lead to major trouble. Ms Marks gives us a believable story with some taboo elements and not everyone was on their side. I wished for some more explanation as to why her mother kept pushing her ex Will at Colbie….maybe he and mom had a fling🤪. Great story. Now I have to backtrack and read the Captive series.
You have quickly become one of my favorite authors & this one didn't disappoint. Age gap romances when the woman is older aren't usually my thing, one I can't imagine being attracted to someone younger than me in real life & two, that "cougar" thing books do makes me cringe. I was pleasantly surprised how good this is, not only is the characters & story believable, it's also hot, romantic & funny. The inner dialog Colbie had with with gigi was relatable & hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed this, im hoping we'll getting books with dallis friends.
I first stumbled upon this story on Wattpad a fee years ago and liked it enough. I fell off on it because of slow updates. When the author started to publish her works I put finishing it off until it became published. Once she finally put this out on Amazon I bought it. There were some changes from the Wattpad version but overall still the same. I enjoyed it enough but the drama being saved for the end was really lackluster imo. It should've been resolved earlier. Besides that I liked this taboo(student/teacher) book.
This was such a lovely book. The double standard of age gap will always be looked strangely by others but if you believe in your love and all that it has benefitted both partners, what could possibly go wrong? That's literally what this book is about and I highly recommend it. Though I would like to have some spicy smut throughout the entirety of the book, because I'm quite curious to know what went down for Colbie's birthday.
This one has one of my fav trope- age gap, so I HAD to read it. This was a low-tension/no-real-drama story which is nice to read every once in a while. Our mains, Colbie and Dallis, got together and stayed together with few hiccups along the way. Some nice 🔞 scenes added much-needed spice. My only gripe was that our couple had no real problems when it came to their relationship ie someone finding out and blackmailing or threatening them. Still, it was a nice read.
This book wasn’t what I expected. I don’t mind age gap stories, but usually it’s the male that is older. The way Dallis is written, it’s not hard to believe that he would be mature enough to land an older woman. I really liked the family dynamics with Dallis’s family. Not a fan of Colbie’s mother one bit! I hope that I can follow up on Dallis’s friends and their pursuit of their women.
I found it an interesting story, getting over the age difference was hard, with her being his teache. It would have been easier for me to get past it if she was just an older woman. But her being his educator, was just tough to get over. Though I did like the book, once he graduated. Dallis was a good guy, and Colbie was sweet natured. I would recommend this book to any romantic at heart.
You Alpha Male indeed! Dallis knew what he wanted from the get go and put a plan together, and Colbie let go of her fears of society’s reaction to them being together we get to see two people who truly make each other happy.
Surrender is Book 1 of Young Alpha Males and my introduction to Teir Marks. Great storyline, and the H/h Colbie and Dallis pulled me in from the beginning. Some of the secondary characters have stories of their own. Can't wait to read them. Check out this author. 👍🏽
