RAF Saga #3

Spiralling Down

Rate this book
Spiralling Down is the third novel in Alan Savage’s RAF series, continuing the saga of the Bayley family.

Max Bayley is among Germany’s leading fighter pilots – even though he abhors much of the Nazi philosophy. In the spring of 1941, Max and his wing are transferred from the Channel coast to Eastern Europe, where they find themselves taking part in Operation Barbarossa. For the Germans, this is a summer of continuous success and triumph in the air.

Meanwhile, his English half-brother John, a successful Spitfire pilot in the RAF, is shot down over France and has to make the long journey home as an Evader. On his return he is transferred to fly the new, top-secret Mosquito, the fastest aircraft in existence.

Are the two brothers destined to remain on opposite sides, or will their family bonds reunite them at last?

Written with great attention to detail, Spiralling Down will please not only those who enjoy family sagas, but also readers with an interest in aviation and World War II.

Alan Savage is one of several pseudonyms used by the popular and prolific British writer Christopher Nicole, who has written more than 200 novels and non-fiction works. Nicole was born in Guyana, and now lives on Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands.

A better ending this time

As it was not so abrupt. I’m looking forward to the next segment. These books should be read in order although they can be considered stand alone but you would definitely not get the continuity of the story and the development of the character that make the series so good.

Soft porn novel or WW2 Flying?

I had forgotten about this series for a while and got a "recommendation" continue this series pop-up on Kindle. Darn it I keep hoping a war story would eventually dominate the book series....still waiting.

Action packed story of the air war in Europe.

The author has written a remarkable story of bravery and how it lead to the survival of both a German and English fighter pilot. A fast paced and action packed story that is very enjoyable and entertaining reading.

retribution in the air

This was an exciting story. Brother against brother in the air. This is a fast paced saga. It’s also a good summary of the air war in Europe.

Yet again full of factual errors and appalling editing.

Full review of the four book series will follow when I have read the final book.

A good story line

It was overtaken by too much sexual activity. Females and males have been mating since the beginning of time; however, too much in this novel.
