This adorable book set in rhyme teaches children that sometimes a good friend can make it easier to overcome fears.
As hard as he tries, Sharkie never seems to be able to overcome being scared of the world around him. He decides to run away. Luckily, a new friend named Lily follows Sharkie and the two play together for hours--until they find themselves lost. Can Sharkie overcome his fears, comfort Lily, and help get them home safely?
I've written numerous children's books, including the Pirate School series and the Catkid series. I'm also the author of several novels: Pure Sunshine; Tomorrow, Maybe; Perfect World; Dirty Liar; Thief; Zombie Blondes; The Heights.
Sharkie is scared of ships and whales, seals and eels until the day he needs to be brave . . . for someone else. The artwork is cute, but it seems as though I've heard this story before.
This was my second read aloud to my pre-schoolers today. I like to pick books that have deep meaning of emotions to show that it is okay to feel them. This book does exactly that! In the beginning sharkie is very scared of everything and everyone. Then He meets a little fish named Lily that helps him overcome his fears but Sharkie helped her overcome hers fears as well. This is a great book about being scared and leading us to bravery.
This was all time favorite book when I was in elements school. I got it at a school book fair and read it over and over again.i love this book. I even remember what the back of the book said.
Under the sea, where the fish played, sharpie the shark was always afraid. What good is a shark who is always afraid. I'll go far away we're no one will notice. Lilly the fish saw him leave and followed his lead....
The shark was afraid of everything you could ever imagine. Until one day he came upon another little fish who was scared also, it was Sharkie's job to protect the fish. It was at that moment he realised he wasn't so scary afterall.
Everyone is afraid of something. This book is a good choice to use if you want to have a discussion with children about being afraid of things and what would they do when they are feeling afraid. I would also use this to help students with recognizing rhyming words.
