An ancient power awakens… A powerful wizard seeks the aid of an old friend… Castin has been an outcast for all his life. Spending the better part of forty years wandering, the half-elf, half-human has been unable to achieve acceptance, mostly due to his ability to manipulate water and earth. But when a vision leads him to an encounter with a woman from Earth, he realizes his druidic powers may not be a curse after all. Perhaps there is a place for Castin in Arconia, if he can live long enough to discover it. Who brought her to Arconia? Why? Driven to find out, Katrina embarks on a journey with a sullen druid and a mysterious barbarian who claims to be leading her to the one person with all of the answers. But before the answers can be revealed, they must overcome assassins, angry mobs, and the attacks of mystical beasts—not to mention the strange connection that Katrina seems to be developing with the fauna around her….
A young woman from Earth is pulled to another world. A young half-elf is separated from all he knows when his traveling party, including his mother, are killed.
Parts of this story remind me of the Dungeon and Dragons novels that my family and I have read and love, so I was immediately hooked when I started reading this and could not put it down.
There are many typical fantasy characters such as dwarves, elves, dragons, etc. but more interesting is the introduction of a new race called a Rrishwer, which is a cat-like creature that can speak and stand on two legs. Good versus evil storyline with plenty of action, mystery, suspense and a touch of romance. The winning point for me is the connection that Katrina, the young woman from Earth, has with animals. I cannot wait to get home tonight to pick up Chasing Demons: Book Two: Mistress of Beasts Saga and find out what happens next!
