Heat of Passion is book two in the Out of Uniform series by Elle Kennedy. It’s been some time since I read the first book in this series and I knew I wanted to come back to it and read more of the series. As usual, it has taken me awhile. I’m so glad, though, because I really loved this second book.
It is the bachelor party for Carson Scott’s best friend and fellow navy seal member, Garrett. Garrett is marrying Shelby, the love of his life. Up until now Carson has been happy living the loose life of a single man. But lately he has been yearning for more, for what his friend Garrett has. At the party, he is approached by a beautiful woman who asks him to dance. One dance leads to the most erotic experience of Carson’s life. But then, directly afterward, the woman just takes off, disappears. In the month following, Carson finally accepts he wants a real relationship, to fall in love. He hasn’t been able to get the woman from the bar off his mind. Until strictly by accident, he came face to face with her again.
Holly Lawson is the baby of the family, but since her mother passed away, she has somehow become the one that is taking care of everyone else. She is constantly getting calls from her siblings or dad to take care of this or that. They depend on her for everything. At the same time, she is trying to go to culinary school and work as a caterer. One night, after being dumped by the man she thought loved her, everything just became too much. She just wanted to be someone else for just one night. And then she saw “him.” The most beautiful man she has ever seen. She has never been the one night stand type. But she needed this, she needed him. It was the most incredible experience of her life. And then she ran.
One month later while catering a wedding she comes face to face with the gorgeous man from a month ago. But now, he wants to date her, he wants a relationship. All she wants or has time for is a fling.

I loved this short book. These two were so perfect for each other and they were most definitely hot, hot, hot! Can Carson convince Holly that she needs him in her life for more than just sex? Can he help her to realize that she needs to practice some tough love with her family? Will she give him a chance? Pick this one up and find out! I can’t wait to read book three, Heat of the Storm, which is Will’s story.

This second short story from the "Out of Uniform" series was another ridiculously hot one, with almost as much steam as the previous one, "Heat of the Moment", where we first met the hero, Navy SEAL Carson Scott.
The story picks up a few months later with Carson now attending a combined Bachelor/Bachelorette party at a San Diego club for his good friends Garrett and Shelby. Seeing how deliriously in love Shelby and Garrett are gets Carson to thinking that maybe after 29 years and a lot of fooling around, he'd like to have a special woman in his life too. The threesomes and the one-night stands are starting to lose their appeal to him--maybe he should try to have a real relationship for once?
No sooner does he think that, when a petite, sexy brunette named Jessica makes her move on him, and they end up in a supply closet(!) rocking each other's world. But something about this encounter feels different to Carson, but before he can get his pants up and say something, "Jessica" thanks him and walks out the door. Huh?
Fast forward one month, and now Carson is the best man at Shelby and Garrett's beachside wedding. Carson notices one of the catering staff looks awfully familiar to him--is that Jessica tugging on her broken bra strap? The same Jessica who walked out on him after their tryst in the supply closet?
Holly Lawson (aka "Jessica") notices the hunky blond in the Navy dress whites--OMG it's Carson, the guy who rocked her world the day after she was dumped by her boyfriend Steve! She hasn't been able to stop thinking about him, but after her disaster with selfish Steve and her demanding family, work, and school obligations, she has no time or desire for another relationship. But after an intimate conversation at the reception, that's exactly what Carson wants. But Holly says "no" to a relationship, but yes to a "fling". Will Carson be okay with just being her "Boy Toy"?
This was a fast, cute, sexy, and very hot read. It was interesting seeing the tables being turned and have the hero pursue the heroine for a "real" relationship while the heroine thinks she just wants a "booty call". I enjoyed seeing Carson fall under Holly's spell and I also enjoyed how he helped her realize that her family was much too dependent on her. I also liked when Holly discovered that it was okay to put herself first, and that she could do that and still have a relationship with the man she was falling for. Carson and Holly's love scenes were steamy and explosive, so be sure to have a cold drink nearby!
If you're looking for a short, hot, very steamy read about a Navy SEAL willing to give up his roaming ways for a very special woman, then you can't go wrong with this one. Looks like this may be a long series because Carson's got plenty of buddies that were mentioned and I'd love to read their stories too.--4 stars.

This story has almost the same plot as Heat of the Moment, though a little bit more elaborated. Sadly, I didn’t like Holly as much as I liked Shelby.
Carson is amazing, with his persistence for Holly, and his tendency to get distracted by her every time he wants to be serious.
The story is hot enough, yet the steam somehow disappears over the debate of their so-called fling.
While I wished Shelby and Garrett’s story was longer, Heat of Passion was enough for me.
Hope the next one is better.

OMG I am so happy I read this! This short and steamy story was exactly what I needed while I am working! Who knows when would I read it but I decided to scroll through my kindle on mobile and saw this cover and said "why not?".

Heat of Passion is the 2nd book in the Out of Uniform series, and it’s a delightful, engaging, funny and passionate story of the gorgeous and sexy bad boy Seal Carson Scott, who is tired of one night stands….liar liar….what do you call what you did in the club closet with Jessica aka Holly?????
Not that I blame her…I entirely understand….Carson Scott is totally irresistible!!!!!
So, now tired of his slutty ways and dreaming and thinking of “that” night of passion-filled night and realizing he will never see the “girl of his dreams” again, he’s feeling very despondent attending Garrett and Shelby’s wedding (he’s one of the best men…he had to be..Remember he and the bridal couple had one hot threesome some time ago!!!)
But he’s a SEAL….and they never give up once they’ve made their decision!!!! Plus, a man like him……..no way can a woman ever resist him forever. I really enjoyed their interaction. And of course their sexy and sizzling “come-togethers.”
Another thing I am enjoying in this series is the relationship between the members of the Seal Team Fifteen. They have become strong and close friends, who look after each other and naturally play together…at a lot of things!!!! Their banter is absolutely fabulous and so hilarious…..There are so many funny moments and one of them is when Carson is discussing his feelings for Holly with his mate Will -

And another scene that just so did it for me…….Carson is totally “shaken” by seeing Holly (she’s the wedding caterer) and has gone totally into another world…..at the wrong time I think….when the priest asks if there is anyone who objects to Garrett and Shelby’s union……
I was rather surprised that this story ended so quickly. Just when I was kind of engaging with the characters…POW…the end!! I would have liked this story to have been a bit longer, but I am guessing will be seeing more of this couple in the next books.

"She was pretty determined to do the fling thing, man."
"Then change her mind. You're a SEAL, she's a cute little waif. How hard could it be?

Carson and Holly's story was a little boring... I had some serious trouble reading this book but it picked up after a while and it turned out ok. Garrett and Shelby make an appearance, so it's a bonus!

I LOVE THIS NOVELLA!!! Soooo cute! Carson is so perfect! He’s protective, loving, and so damn sweet! Jessica is a girl just trying to find her way, dealing with her family, and trying to achieve her dreams! She just needed a little push!

Kennedy doesn’t disappoint! THIS WAS HOT! Definitely recommend!!

I love hotties in uniform and Elle Kennedy’s heroes from her Out of Uniform series are very sexy navy SEALs who live up to my expectations. Earlier I’ve read the first story in this series, Heat of the Moment, and liked it a lot. Carson made his entrance while enjoying a threesome with his best friend and fellow SEAL John and his lover Shelby. In Heat of Passion John and Shelby are getting married and Carson has a hot encounter with a mystery woman at their bachelor/bachelorette party, in a supply closet! She rocks his world but she immediately disappears after the best sex of his life. Carson realizes that he’s done with the one-night stands and the threesomes of his past. Envying John and Shelby’s love, he wants his own special woman.
One month passes by before he bumps into the mystery woman again. She’s catering at his friends’ wedding. Holly gets the shock of her life when she spots the hot SEAL in his white dress uniform at the wedding she’s working, with whom she had anonymous hot sex a short while ago. It was meant to stay anonymous and now he’s asking her out on a date. No way, she can handle more than a fling. But Carson is persistent – he wants a relationship with her. They settle on great, steamy sex. And steamy it is!
Carson is ridiculously sweet and totally falling for Holly. She still thinks she doesn’t have time for a more serious relation, with her demanding family and her study consuming all of her time. But Carson helps her realize that her family is depending on her too much, only she doesn’t want to admit it and she kicks him out. When she finally can and wants to make up with him, Carson’s been sent off on one of his secret military missions for god knows how long. It makes her reconsider her feelings for him.
Carson and Holly are a lovely couple. They complete each other, a former bad boy and the good girl. Their chemistry is great and the love scenes are explosive and well described. Although Heat of Passion is just a short story (about 70 pages in my ebook version), the characters are vividly and well developed and very, very likeable. Especially Carson is a considerate, attractive, loving and sweet hottie who’s easy to love.
If you’re looking for a fast, cute and steamy story about a sexy as sin navy SEAL and his sweet, sassy girl, I can recommend this one. And it seems as if there’re gonna be a lot more installments in this series, considering the number of hot SEAL buddies of Carson and John that were introduced in this story. A third book has already been published: Heat of the Storm, starring their buddy Will. Yep, gonna want to read that one as well!

When she finally can and wants to make up with him, Carson’s been sent off on one of his secret military missions for god knows how long. It makes her reconsider her feelings for him.
Carson and Holly are a lovely couple. They complete each other, a former bad boy and the good girl. Their chemistry is great and the love scenes are explosive and well described. Although Heat of Passion is just a short story (about 70 pages in my ebook version), the characters are vividly and well developed and very, very likeable. Especially Carson is a considerate, attractive, loving and sweet hottie who’s easy to love.
If you’re looking for a fast, cute and steamy story about a sexy as sin navy SEAL and his sweet, sassy girl, I can recommend this one. And it seems as if there’re gonna be a lot more installments in this series, considering the number of hot SEAL buddies of Carson and John that were introduced in this story. A third book has already been published: Heat of the Storm, starring their buddy Will. Yep, gonna want to read that one as well!

So, a third party from a threesome in book 1 got strung out, so now he's on a prowl, but he actually wants a relationship this time and not just one-night sexcapades, so when he happens to be swoon by a little minx and a hawt sex in a supply closet of a club, during the bachelor party of his best friend, it's like all the lights went on in his head and he fucking knew that he wanted smth more with this little siren, but tough luck, before he even caught his own breath, she was gone...
and well, the fate wanted him to be on her path once more, and this time he will convince her to stay and re-consider her stubborn ways of deflecting anything relationship like...
I guess, this SEAL will get a taste of his own medicine after all...
again, cute, sassy, short story, I liked it but nothing much to write home about either

This series continues to get hotter and hotter. This novella is Carson and Holly’s story and its short but incredibly steamy. We met Carson in book one, as he is the best friend of Garrett, and even then I knew his story was going to be good. He is one dirty-talking SEAL. I am so excited to get to the other books in this series, I just want to devour them all at once.

There is not much story and not much character development - because it’s too short. It’s mostly sex or thinking of sex. But I like the author’s writing style. The characters are Carson (Navy SEAL) and Holly (catering business).
THE OUT OF UNIFORM SERIES:
I’ve read 5 books in this series. All of them are about sexy guys, steamy sex, and each guy is totally devoted to one woman (with the exception of #9 - two guys one woman). I am so pleased that the author is not using undesirable plot devices that are used by too many romance authors. What she does NOT use:
1. stupidity
2. the big misunderstanding
3. one person falls in love and decides to break up with the other, because it will hurt too much if they break up in the future.
Yay!!! Thank you Ms. Kennedy for not using these. I can enjoy these stories.

The only reason this didn't get 5 stars from me was because it was too short. I'm not typically one to deduct stars when I go in knowing it's a novella but here I have a reason which I'll get to later.
I really liked it. I thought the guys in it seemed like real guys. I liked the guy tone of their conversations etc. I really liked the hero. I thought it was a lovely thing to read about a regular guy who was ready to settle down. Regular for a hot SEAL any way. He seemed very realistic. She was not as well developed but wasn't bad. She just needed more screen time I think. The story was well written and tightly written. Absolutely nothing there that didn't need to be there for the novella. This is where the missing star comes into play. If this great relationship story had been filled out and combined with some spec ops action I would have been in hog heaven. In my opinion this author judging from this story needs to be writing full length romantic suspense/SEAL romances. I will definitely read more by this author.

Very short novella
Considering the fact that hero and heroine do not know each other at the beginning of the 50 pages, the love story was difficult to buy. And I never really like when the hero falls in love with the first girl who just walks away from him, just for that because all the previous had clung to him like barnacles. It just feels contrived, shallow and not sufficient to my eyes to be long-lasting.

Elle Kennedy did a lot with 86 pages! Hot stuff.
This is my first SEAL hero book and, gotta say, won't be my last. Carson was a hottie with a heart. And I'm glad he put his foot down with Holly and her needy family.
