This is a great book to introduce the concept of time in the first grade. I say this because it talks about how a minute is a unit to measure time on the clock. It is a great read, and the illustrations are wonderful. It provides real life examples of things you can do in a minute such as wash your hands, do jumping jacks, etc. Also, it talks about the minutes on the clock are in increments of 5, which helps the students begin to count by 5. It gives examples of elasped time. This book also provides a minute activity as well as a glossary for math terms at the end of the book. I can use this book in the classroom to do time activities such as guess that time, the students can write or draw some things they can do in a minute, etc.

This series has nice illustrations and great examples of the math concept. In the back of the book, there are glossaries and an index. There are also activities for students. This would be a really nice addition to a concept introduction for elementary students.
