Quite frankly, I bought this entirely because of the adorableness of this picture. I resisted for a while, because the story sounded so stupid, but...Just look at him! He's sleeping on a tiger, AND he has a little matching stuffed tiger! No human should be expected to resist such a ridiculously cute image.

*cough* So, anyway...as expected, the story was pretty stupid. World famous magician kidnaps boy to save him from the imminent threat of family he didn't know existed trying to kill him to protect inheritance? Um, yeah. Now, I can look past stupid if I like the characters (*cough*Detective Conan*cough*), but, to be honest, I thought the relationship between Shou and the tiger (who had the misfortune to be named Ricardo) was more compelling than the relationship between Shou and Gerard. I mean, they were genuinely cute together, and I could see their growing friendship, unlike the relationship that the book was supposed to be about, which really seemed to just focus around sex. (*yawn*) Also, I'm going to venture a guess that Shou's not going to outlive the tiger by a whole lot, considering that both his mother and father died from cancer at a young age. (Hello, Genetics of Doom.) Incidentally, his grandfather also has cancer, but at least he didn't get it until he'd lived a full life. (Seriously, the author couldn't think of any other causes of death, or what?)
