With their victory in the Golden Lands, Gareth and his friends turn their eye toward the next goal. The activation of two of the eight ancient weapons designed to destroy the gods has set Acamida on a course for destruction.
Discovering the rest won’t prove itself easy. Acamida is a dangerous place and threats lurk around every corner. Continuing his quest won’t prove as easy as Gareth believes, and his complacency threatens to unravel everything.
As the countdown to disaster continues to tick down Gareth is going to discover a side of himself, he never expected. Only by getting stronger, finding new cards, and most importantly, becoming more goblin, can he save reality.
With their time running short Gareth and his team has'ta hurry to turn on all the Godswords with 2 done and 5 more to go... there isn't time to lallygag. But as they make their way to the next portal, Gareth discovers goblin tracks. As Gareth feel a kinship to goblins he absodamnlutely has'ta follow 'em. What his team find is a huge tribe that needs their help. You'll want to grab this action-driven litRPG adventure to see what happens as they take the quest and gather up even more cards to power-up up their deck. And wow the Godsword!
Ohhhh here's a few quotes:
"With the groblins back at the tower Gareth now had access to goblins at both ends of the societal scale, like putting Fred Flinstone next to George Jetson."
"I guess we should probably deal with this terror-sore or whatever you called it.” “Pterosaur, with a silent P.” “Your home is a weird..."
"It would prove a constant reminder that biologicals weren’t to be underestimated even if they were disgusting."
The story progresses in an interesting new goblin twist as our lovable group finds a suspicious footprint in the jungle, and as always a simple sounding quest ends up as a big mess.
I really enjoyed the path the author chose to take with intelligent card monsters and the way it's going to impact the story going forward.
Other than that, there is some really good character development, world building and awesome card magic fun!
The scattershot punctuation and generally sloppy writing hinders an otherwise inoffensive but underwhelming story. The lack of proofreading has been a problem from the start of this series but it seems to have gotten worse in this installment. There are a number of sentences that either make no sense due to words being absent or auto corrected to the wrong thing. This happens every chapter and in at least one case inverts the intent of what was supposed to be important advice.
Way too many grammatical errors. Also a lot of fluff where things are explained that are firmly established in previous books. I also hated the failure to use the rod of recall when Gareth was injured. Never got rewards from Pharaoh tournament. Uses the word wrinkle a lot.
Another amazing edition to the series. Great characters, plot & worldbuilding. Would 100% recommend to others. Great to have something different in the litrpg category. Grobbit needs to get a deck and join the main characters!!
Books are getting shorter and the series is getting cumbersome. How can the same plot be used again and again (even the broad chapter flows are similar and the start of some phases e.g. abc felt the heat of the desert or xyz was sweating in the jungle's humid weather)
Continues to be a fun, deck-building LitRPG series. I felt this book was less focused than others, but had more worldbuilding, so was a fair trade. Good action and fun.
