my first exposure to Hoshino, after being warned that a lot of her work was meh but this one was good, and yes, i liked the stories about the souda family, although i would have preferred it if the uke in the Mr Flower Bride stories didn't CRY ALL THE FRICKIN TIME. on the other hand, i found the two one-shots included with this bland (the bodyguard story) to ick (the imekura one), not so much for shota (although i'm certainly no fan) but for the uke's excessive, pathetic girliness. in fact, why bother drawing yaoi at all? [i realise this is a Hoshino trademark, just saying:]

I brought this book years ago when I was a teen, but read it around 2004 on Livejournal. It's a short very cute BL manga with themes of getting married to someone of the same sex for family traditions or something like that. It's old school so it dodges the a few fact about same sex love and married but mostly older BL mangas do. Still it's cute and a short read and a classic to an old school BL manga reader.

Listen. I know BL mangas of the pass have some elements that are not well received today. However, I am a huge fan of Lily Hoshino's characters and art. And Mr. Flower Bride really gave me that angsty, sweet, insta-love.

Content Warning for possible large age-gap couple.

I like this mangakas work, she follows very specific archtypes, the seme is always masculine and the uke very often feminine but I like her artwork and the stories are usually sweet.

This book is sweet enough that the explicit scenes feel almost out of place. Everyone's so adorable!

A silly setup but endearing characters.

I find the guys generally quite attractive. VERY marked difference between the manly half and the could-pass-for-a-girl half of the pairings, but I liked that the "bride" flipped from one to the other between the first two stories. Similarly, in "Even If It Costs Me My Life," we have the older bodyguard looking younger and more feminine (and, in fact, crying after getting saved by his client). Interesting, although again it really doesn't do much to empower/whatever the presumed uke.

I found "If I Can See You Anytime" distractingly confusing, and one particular, explicit panel actually pulled me so far out of the story that I'm pretty sure I wrinkled my face up in a "hunh?" expression and looked at the logistics rather than the emotions or action.

These tales seemed really quick and a bit shallow. I think part of it is that each story has a small space to accomplish a small task. When I read the impressively ambitious/complex story collection The Day I Become a Butterfly, it emphasized how much I wasn't satisfied with Mr. Flower Bride.

The strongest part of this was the the main story, but the side stories (other than Mr. Flower Groom) seem extraneous and take a disturbing turn into shota, for me. In addition, I found the uke a bit on the wimpy side, and that's saying something. Still, I enjoyed it overall.

Sweet simple stories. Many of them revolve around boys who are part of very affluent families and as such have obligations to both family and business. The main story was sweet and the side stories were very simple. Not a bad quick read.

I really liked this book. I kind of wish they went on a little more into their life after.

Wonderful Story

I liked the story line in general. It was put together well and the artwork was great. There were some boohoo moments.

The first story was cute and i liked it. The other oneshots were a bit boring or really too short to keep me interested.

It's not a bad story idea but as a prior reviewer noted it moves so fast as to be superficial. The two shorter stories are distractions.
