Seems like the Swami tried to make his message as simple as possible, so it seems a little dumbed-down. Also, one has to contend with Peter Max's artwork, so you're constantly expecting someone to burst into "Yellow Submarine" or "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," which while not bad, definitely detracts from any depth or insight to the book's message. It's a little like trying to take a philosophical/religious book seriously with illustrations by Keith Haring or Paul Frank - just not easy to do.
