Award-winning original fiction for learners of English. At seven levels, from Starter to Advanced, this impressive selection of carefully graded readers offers exciting reading for every student's capabilities. On a hot August night in Milwaukee in the USA, a young artist and a gang leader's girlfriend are shot in the street, a woman dies mysteriously in the Mercy Hospital emergency room, and a famous artist is killed at the opening of an exhibition of his work. Dr Maxine Cassidy feels sure there must be a connection between these events and sets out to find it. Contains a paperback and 3 Audio CDs with complete text recordings from the book.
In my opinion, I appreciate that the book tries to be interesting and mysterious, but I found it a little bit boring. As someone who likes reading, I think the story is too simple and doesn’t have enough development. The characters aren’t poor described, so it’s difficult to connect with them or feel anything for the story. Moreover, I think that the story is very predictable. Most of the time, you already know what is going to happen next, which makes it less exciting. However, I must say that the book is easy and fast to read. Because of that, I think it’s a good option for English learners. Also, I have to say that this was the first book I read completely in English, and it helped me learn new vocabulary. In conclusion, I would not recommend Murder by Art to people who read a lot and want a deep, complex story. But for learners who want to practice English with an easy book, it could be a good choice.
