4.5/5

It's such a shame this is physically out of print because it's fantastic. The art is gorgeous and the plot so much richer than many other yaoi mangas. This mangaka is an expert at combining a sweet and sexy romance with a mythologically complex plot. Learning all the different yokai stories is just as satisfying as the central romance. There's also so much humor, making this all the more enjoyable.

Naono Bohra, known for her unique art style and frequent use of "old man/young man" pairings is one of my favourite mangaka. Her fantasy tales, historical or contemporary, are exquisite and entertaining, especially when they contain characters struggling with emotional or physical disabilities.

She simply glows with drama and pathos.

This book, although too short so fairly underdeveloped, is one of the better BL offerings for English readers.

Naono Bohra has a unique style of her own. She has no fear in portraying older men in a sexy style. No fluffy twinks here. This is a fun fantasy with a teenager who is actually a reincarnate of a guy who bonded with a yokai, Koma. And of course the bond requires he feed Koma with sexual energy.

Osami believes he is curse and push people away to not get them hurt. Koma think that Osami is the reincarnation of Oshu, his master. The older man is a Yokai, a Divine creature and swore to protect him.
For some reasons, Akakogachi, Koma’s brother also tag along. Others Yokai get curious and attack Osami. The best way to end the fight is a truce and getting them to all live together in a apartment.

There is some plot about Gods attacking the Yokais in the past and to be honest, I found this too heavy for a stand alone manga.

Some scenes are funny, like the one with the landlord who is an old lady. This is not my favorite from this author, the drawing style is gorgeous, but the story doesn’t make much sense.

ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE FANTASTIC AND I LOVE NAONO BOHRA'S ART, she's just so GREAT, and this is one of my FAVORITES of hers. I just wish I could luxuriate in the antics and love of all the characters for longer than the manga was <3 <3

I want to give this 3.5 stars for having a few shortcomings but a good core.

I'm thinking this may be what Snow refers to as crack, but I'll have to ask her more about that word choice later.

Akakagachi totally reminds me of Uncle Vick from QAF.

I found the book hard to follow in places, particularly near the end, but overall I enjoyed it. Didn't get a strong feel for either of the main characters, but the secondary characters were quirky and fun with lots of personality. I love people who turn into other things or take other forms. I especially want to cuddle their chibis. This story has a good combination of dark action and cute zaniness.

The sex is very explicit on this one. Here we have a character who appears middle aged (but is centuries old) and one who appears to be in his mid-to-late 20s (and is about 18). The age gap is not emphasized, perhaps because Norito Ogami is a reincarnated figure from Koma's past. Not a lot of power play, and although one character feeds from their sexual relations, he is not the sexually dominant one. Also interestingly, the much older man in this tale is the sexual bottom in the relationship. Both of those aspects are sort of unexpected and nice. (Look at the tengu of Black Bird for a rather more imbalanced power dynamic in a straight pairing.)

To be loved by a god is to be hunted by demons and despised by Angels.

I loved this when I could only find scantalations. I love bishies like the next fangirl, but there is something about older men, broken men, non-men that is absolutely fascinating. Ogami is plagued by demons, not attacking him but hurting those who come around him. He is so guilt ridden than he has tried suicide but the attempt failed. Enter Koma, demon hound, who is anything but impressive with feral cats hanging off his head. He claims Ogami is his old master reincarnated and the proof is the blood birthmark on Ogmai's chest. This is the reason why demons are after him.

It could have ended up a bleak story, but there is a balance of humor and danger. My favorite character is the snake, Akakagachi, who is fashionable with his long coats and exotic demands for eggs. There is a review about the chibis. Oh my god, the chibis are to die for.

Text is tiny, but the artwork is wonderful. Buy it.

I love this mangaka's work and have a number of her books. Yokai's Hunger was pretty good, Norito, a student and main character is good looking seme who falls for Koma. Both are attracted to one another, but really come up against it when everyone tries to interfere with their relationship, Koma's siblings and even his archenemy. Honestly, Ms. Bohra's characters in this yaoi are interesting as well as attractive. The plot was simple but intriguing enough to keep my attention until the end.
But, as for the actual book, I found the font a bit on the small side in 80% of the dialogue bubbles, and some of the background dialogue way too small to the point of illegible in spots, and there was enough space to enlarge.

i would read just about anything if it had chibis as good as these. yokai chibis! middle-aged chibis! sometimes both at once! the story felt a little over-complicated for the length and i could have done without the multiple character names, but on the whole was frothy fun. and i do love bohra's older characters.

I love Naono Bohra's work. The drawings were hot and explicit. The story line was interesting and very funny at times, especially the chibi drawings. I have read this several times. I recommend checking it out.

Norito is a high school student and Koma is the middle aged, demon bound to him. This age difference turned me off immediately. Demons attack Norito and Koma protects him, then they go home to have sex. Forgettable and uninteresting.

Yaoi done with actual characters and development. Distinctive character designs. Avoids some of the uke and seme stereotypes. Funny sibling characters.
