Safety is an illusion. When the world crumbles into chaos, only a chosen few can afford the luxury of life in towers built to soar far above the pollution and destruction on the ground. Life up in the air is full of beautiful things and beautiful people. What happens when you-re not one of them? What happens when everything you believed about the world turns out to be a lie?
a solid sequel to the first, although it does seem like the rules keep changing throughout the first two thirds of the novel. then, near the end, a new and unforeshadowed threat! with a cliche solution! and a romance storyline that seems practically forced, despite the intense likeability of both parties. HOWEVER, the character development and the way in which the twins' relationship builds left me quite frankly tearful in the middle of the night as i finished it. which was pretty intense. overall i did enjoy this book, even if it didn't quite live up to the first.
